Can I name indie bands in this thread? If so-- Quasi, Elliot Smith, Pavement, and a lot of other bands would fit. I'm not mentioning bands like Modest Mouse, Spoon, Neutral Milk Hotel, and The Decemberists because they already receive media attention.

I feel that this is far better than NIN's original version.

I guess you're shopping at the wrong stores? I know quite a few that I've purchased and they've lasted years. Mainly J. Crew, Northface and Banana Republic. Also, it totally depends on the brand. Brands like Abercrombie may last less than Target brand stuff, but some Levi's high-end stuff (Levi's Vintage Collection jeans go for $210 a pair) will be passed on to your children.

I could never get into the mindset that by rejecting things that my peers liked, I could become cool. I'm seeing a lot of it in this thread. Also, people who say things like "rap sucks" and "getting high is stupid" when they haven't experienced any rap besides current mainstream, and theyve only tried weed. On a less critical note, movies. I like them, but I don't really feel it's worth going to theaters or paying money for them.

Honestly, I consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur of music, and I honestly can't recall a single song in which I've heard a rapper tell me to make out with my girlfriend in between classes. I live in the California Bay Area, near Oakland, one of the places most notorious for gang-related violence. Guess what race is behind most of that gang violence? It's even more depressing because the people who make these things don't even think that they'll become popular. I can't even tell you how shocked I was when I got a chain letter I had composed in my inbox a few months after I had first sent it. (Said letter was basically the same thing as the OP; bad grammar, stupid plot, misspellings)

While I don't agree with the ruling here, I believe that the people who are charging him have the same mentality as the people who want to ban violent videogames. They believe that if some kills (or has sex with minors, in this case) in a video game (or manga), they will do it in real life. I, personally, believe the opposite, that these people live their desires in these mediums, so they do not exhibit these illegal/taboo behaviors in real life. Just my $0.02.

Just saw B.B. King at the Fox Theater in Oakland, and man, that guy just not lose his voice. He's 83, and he had evident trouble walking, and stuff, and his guitar wasn't the same, but damn, his voice is as good as ever.

Because they spend their money differently than you do? Because thay have that sort of money to waste! In my family that money would go towards food and bills, not some stupid clothes! It's throwing away money when there are cheaper alternatives. Some people can't appreciate that the money they can waste on non-essentials (big plasma screen TV anyone? New PS3 and a stack of Blue Ray DVDs?), is the sort of money that people would die for... So, you're mad at people who make more money than you? That's jealousy, my friend. Anyways, if you want to know what "styles" there are, just go to school, and notice what everyone wears. Once you can divide them up into groups by what they wear, you've separated the styles. As for people who say expensive clothes are a waste, so is every other luxury, including computers, add-ons to computers, video games, etc. Seriously, don't hate because some people have jobs, unlike you middle schoolers.
