  1. The first instrument I learned was the Viola, which I quit after about 2.5 years due to an awful instructor. I have been playing percussion for about five years now, though I have only had a set for the last year. I am first chair percussion at my junior high and I play quads in my school's marching band. I'm trying out for snare line at my high school for next year, though I am a bit nervous seeing as the auditions are in two days >.>. I've never played in a band aside from school concert and marching bands, though. My newest instrument is my bass that I got last week. I don't really know too much about it obviously, seeing as I've only had it for a week, but I am looking to start in lessons over the summer. Eventually, I want to learn the electric guitar, relearn viola, and possibly the flute.
  2. Yeah, though I wouldn't say it is right.
  3. Good list, I like most of the stuff I've heard off there, and at least heard of most of the bands. I'll probably be checking out some of the ones I haven't heard, though for some reason My Bloody Valentine doesn't really do anything for me, so I'm a bit hesitant about the shoegaze.
  4. mewithoutYou - It's All Crazy! It's All False! It's All a Dream! It's All Right (album) Though I didn't like "Every Thought a Thought of You" at first, this album's been growing on me a lot and is one of the better things I've heard this year. They got a bit more obviously christian though. I don't really mind it too much, but a lot of other people might. "The King Beetle of the Coconut Estate" is the best song on here, imo.
  5. Try out Lo-fi Scorpio. They are a really good but not too well known Industrial band from Michigan in the 90's. The drum work is particularly good, and you can legally download their discography here. I recommend starting with Noir.
  6. I believe the final season is going to air this summer. Yeah, that;s what I was referring to wth the second part, sorry if I was unclear.
  7. The last season of Monk was awful, and the show really needs to end soon. Thankfully, the writers seem to realize this.
  8. awesome i like the first 1 more tbh ummm how about Avenged sevenfold - Dear god Eh, the only Avenged Sevenfold I like is their City of Evil album. If you like them however, perhaps try
  9. You should try out Say Anything, probably one of the best pop-punk bands out there. Their double album In Defense of the Genre is especially good, probably my favorite pop-punk album aside from maybe some of Brand new's stuff (which is another band you should listen to, by the way). Say Anything - Brand New -
  10. Perhaps try listening to the Smiths? I just acquired The Queen is Dead recently, and it is incredibly good. Besides, you probably should give them a listen sometime; they are an influence to all sorts of Indie bands. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2e4V3Xh17w
  11. Really? [hide=Spoiler]I hated the Adam and Eve ending. Bleh, they could have tried to be more original...[/hide]
  12. Well, going by that, try Aa. They are a pretty good noise-rock band (i think they're noise-rock. Not too familiar with the genre).

  14. My library is predominantly metal, but I am not a metalhead. Though I do much enjoy the genre, I also like many subgenres of rock as well as some electronic music, hip-hop/rap, and a bit of Punk. I am wiling to try anything, though. the only genres I haven't really tried are Blues, jazz, and classical, mainly because I don't know where to start (though I do listen to Stevie Ray Vaughan and John Zorn already).

    Rap

For fans of Del tha Funkee Homosapien, he has a new album out for free that was released recently. Haven't listened yet though. http://delthefunkyhomosapien.bandcamp.com/ I've been getting into underground rap a lot more. Lately I've been listening to rap more than metal o.O. My favorite rappers / groups: [hide=List]Atmosphere Brother Ali CunninLynguists Cypress Hill Dalek Del tha Funkee Homosapien / Deltron 3030 Elemental Zazen Eminem GZA Jurassic 5 Madvillain Nas Pharoahe Monch Public Enemy Sage Francis Wu-Tang Clan[/hide] Most of you have probably heard stuff by most of these. However, I strongly recommend looking into Elemental Zazen's album The Glass Should be Full if you like Sage Francis.
  16. You definitely should check out Pain of Salvation then, but Dream Theater is pretty boring live, even moreso than on album. Practically nothing but 45 minute guitar solos.
  17. They are doing a US tour with Enslaved in May though.

    DUBSTEP.

I really like Burial's Untrue album, though I haven't heard any other dubstep (or any other artists in the genre).

    Rap

Yeah, I've just been getting into Sage Francis lately as well. The only album I have by him is A Healthy Distrust, and it is really good (and it contains "Escape Artist"). Also, "Makeshift Patriot" is one of my favorite rap songs ever.
  20. Progressive Nation 2008 was an amazing tour at the time I saw it. However, Pain of Salvation is the only band in the US lineup that holds my interest, as Dream Theater is so incredibly boring live...I have other bands I'd rather see.

    Metal

It's technical as ever and more much more progressive, but the concept is just bad and "The Czar" is boring imo. Still a pretty good album, not as good as Leviathan though.

    Rap

Necro, awesome post, though I was a bit surprised at the lack of Atmosphere for some reason.

    Punk!

I don't listen to much punk, mainly because I haven't had too much inclination. I do, however, like Propoghandi and some Emo bands a lot though, as well as Dead Kennedys.
