  1. Scar Symmetry - Holographic Universe (album)
  2. The only Black Metal albums I have are Emperor's Into The Nightside Eclipse, Burzum's Hvis Lysett Tar Oss, Bathory's Blood Fire Death, Summoning's Minas Morgul, and Agollach's Ashes Against the Grain, and I love all of them. I find that I have to be in a certain mood to listen to it though, and I'm not in that kind of mood very often. There are still quite a few bands I've been meaning to check out within the genre, mainly Darkthrone, Mayhem, Ulver, Sacramentum, and Dissection.
  3. Track 7: Lover, You Should Have Come Over I've been meaning to listen to this for a long time, but never got around to it. Sheesh, I wish I would have done so earlier, it is incredible.
  4. I've heard many more 2008 albums now. The ones I liked (no particular order): Thrice - The Alchemy Index Vol. III and IV Cynic - Traced in Air Protest the Hero - Fortress Guns N Roses - Chinese Democracy (surprisingly good) Steven Wilson - Insurgentes Rise Against - Appeal to reason Fall Out Boy - Folie a Deux (make fun of me all you want, it actually was really good) Misery Signals - Controller Draconian - Turning Season Within The Fall of troy - Phantom on the Horizon Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago Amon Amarth - Twilight of the Thunder God The Killers - Day and Age Meshuggah - ObZen Underoath - Lost in the Sound of Separation Overall, I'd say it was a pretty good year, though there were some things that were absolutely horrible (new Metallica (though it was expected), Bullet for my Valentine (ugh, I wish i never listened...)). I have yet to hear the new Unearth, Sigur Ros, and Cult of Luna albums. I also am interested in the Gojira album.
  5. Infected Mushroom - I am the Supervisor (album) Everyone posting about them here got me interested, and I quite like what I'm hearing.
  6. That's not an instrumental. I really like Octavarium by Dream Theater. That isn't an instrumental either... But on the topic of Dream Theater epics, A Change of Seasons is dramatically better. And speaking of Dream Theater instrumentals, Ytse Jam is great. ...and speaking of Dream Theater instrumentals....Octavarium and A Change of Seasons aren't instrumentals lol.(But they are really good songs. But yeah, Dream Theater has... -Ytse Jam -Eve -Erotomania -Hell's Kitchen -Overture 1928 -Dance Of Eternity -6 Degree's Overture -Stream of Conciousness I never said that A Change of Seasons was instrumental, only that it is an epic.
  7. Ah another ATR fan! Good to know that i'm not the only one here. Overcome was probably the best release imo. Trivium seems to be going down hill, they need to get back to the way they used to sound. Shogun was a decent album at best. And GNR will never be "great" again  Chinese Democracy was nowhere near as horrible as Overcome. Overcome wasnt horrible, It was just different to the other albums. I know it isnt thier best album but its still really good. And i also though Scream, Aim, Fire by Bullet for my valentine was a very good album this year. Chiron was the only good song on Overcome imo. Everything else was just bad, probably due to the new producer. The new drummer isn't as interesting as their last one. Also, the effects on Phil's voice is horrible. He never gets any of the power in his growls that he sometimes had on The Fall of Ideals. The guitar riffs all sound samey too, but that's too be expected from them. I think the album easily classifies as a dud. Scream Aim Fire was probably the worst thing I've heard this year. Matt Tuck's vocals somehow got even worse, the rest of the band still is incredibly boring as well, and almost all of the songs sound like bad Metallica B-sides. Sorry, not trying to start a flame war. I'll stop hijacking the thread.

  10. Hmm... Try Converge. "Jane Doe" is probably the best place to start. You'll probably need to give the vocals time to grow, but they have to be one of the best metalcore bands ever.
  11. if you like some good Bass, try Indestructible-by Disturbed.... pretty good bass. that is, if you like metal. "can I have some Cool Jazz or something with good beats." :wall: I have no idea what you like so ill post a few good bands. Between The Buried And Me, Tool, Warship, Black Houses, and Maximum the Hormone Try Protest the Hero's Fortress.
  12. Oh wow, that reminds me I need to get some Autopsy. Probably Mental Funeral... Awaiting the Suffering by Festering Saliva - A truely awesome Brutal Death Metal band. No offence, but I always think Death Metal bands have semi cheesy names, like Festering Saliva, for instance (I only use that cause it's right here) sounds like a poser name. Ofc, I can't talk cause I listen to MCR,. Bleeding Mascara -Atreyu Lip Gloss And Black -Atreyu (OH MY GOD!!! The last 30 seconds are so awesome, it's an orgasm for my ears. The video is also epic.) The Crimson -Atreyu I've been in an Atreyu mood for the past two months. Also, I can't say I've heard Tool before, what type of music is it? Those names are supposed to be cheesy to appeal to the humor pf people like Cyco. If you like Atreyu...listen to new Underoath or Between the Buried and Me or Unearth or Converge or something. Those are all much better bands of the same genre (well Between the Buried and Me isn't really, but most fans of metalcore seem to like them). Tool is Progressive Rock/Metal (It is debatable). On topic: Today, I've listened to (all albums): 1. Massive Attack - Mezzanine (amazing) 2. Becoming the Archetype - The Physics of Fire (wasn't bad, and certainly was good for metalcore, but they seem overhyped. Maybe it has to grow). 3. Underoath - Lost in the Sound of Separation (excellent) 4. Rise Against - The Sufferer and the Witness (amazing, of course)
  13. imo "this darkened heart" is their best cd, overcome was a waste of cash tbh The idea is to recommend an artist to the person above... So here's a recommendation for both Ultimania and O2l: Throbbing Gristle, a very interesting band... I know that you like Cynic, so if you haven't already, check out Gordian Knot. It's a side project by Sean Malone and Sean Reinart from Cynic, and they include a lot of other musicians (i.e. John Myung, the drummer from Yes, and other members of Cynic) playing Instrumental Prog metal/Fusion.
  14. I would have put in a line break to make it more clear that you weren't implying that those bands screamed. Whatever, I'm not going to keep arguing this.
  15. They're a great band live. Look out for moshpits :P I didn't go moshing but it still was the best concert I've ever been to. Rise Against was just incredible, as were Thrice and the Gaslight anthem. The Gaslight Anthem is one of my new favorites at the moment, actually. The only thing I disliked about the show was the existence of the Alkaline Trio. Ugh.
  16. I know a ton of instrumental songs I really like. However, my favorite instrumental song is "Sail on Soothsayer (In Memory of Aunt Suzie 1932-2007)" by Buckethead. It's just so incredibly emotional...Everyone should hear it IMO. [hide=List of other Good Instrumentals]Rush - YYZ Dream Theater - The Dance of Eternity Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists to the Sky like Antennas to Heaven (album) Joe Satriani - Surfing with the Alien Liquid Tension Experiment - Acid rain, Paradigm Shift Yngwie Malmsteen - Caprici Di Diablo Buckethead - Decoding the Tomb of Bansheebot (album)[/hide]
  17. I have At the Drive-in's Relationship of Command, I really like it. I haven't listened to it in a long time though. I also have the Mars Volta's De-Loused in the Comatorium, but for some reason I've never listened to it. I probably should.

    Rock Band II

I have about 200 songs of DLC, and I pretty much agree with runescapeloser on this one. Also, though Screaming For Vengeance is a good album to listen to, it is boring as hell on drums, though I never played it on any other instruments. If you are a drummer, I would only suggest Take These Chains. Speaking of Drums, nearly the entire foo fighters album is fun on them. I would highly recommend "Chiron" and "This Calling" by All That remains as well. They are my two favorites to play on guitar, though I am not particularly good. I think that "This Calling" is really fun on drums as well, though many people would disagree with me. I enjoyed "Laid to Rest" by Lamb of God on guitar as well, though on expert drums the lack of a double bass part made it play awkwardly. Aside from these, I would recommend the two Soundgarden songs, they're really fun on everything I've tried them on.

I think the Wii version is going to get DLC this time, I can't give a source though. Caprici di Diablo is freaking hard on guitar...didn't have enough money to get the rest of the pack though. I also can't pass Jesus Christ Pose drums for the life of me. Last week as a whole was incredible though. Now I'm pissed at this weeks DLC. Nickelodian music...Seriously? The other songs aren't too good either. Aside from that, this month would have been my favorite month of DLC.
  20. I'm just hyper, and straight edge... I might see job for a cowboy soon. Facepalm... If you want to learn to scream, then you might want to listen to REAL screaming, none of that emo garbage. Go listen to some real hardcore punk like Orchid, Siege, Dead Kennedys, Circle Jerks etc. I was not aware that Dead Kennedys used any screaming whatsoever?
