  1. Oh god yes. When I went to prog Nation, 3 and Opeth were so freaking incredible live that it made up for missing half of between the buried and me's set (was getting my 3 cd signed :D) and the utter boringness that was Dream theater. Aside from Prog Nation, I've seen Foo Fighters w/Serj tankian and Against Me! Opening (the foo fighters put on the best show of my life, Dave Grohl is hilarious! Serj wasn't too bad either), three days grace/breaking Benjamin co-headlining (they actually put on good shows, though I don't care for their music much any more), Thousand Foot Krutch with some other crappy bands, and...Nickelback >.> (I was in 5th grade...) I'm going to see Nightwish w/ Sonata Arctica in september, I can't wait! I might also be seeing Rise Against w/ Alkaline Trio, thrice, and The Gaslight Anthem in November, but that's still a long way away.
  2. Progressive Metal? Try (I think the video is only meant to be listened to, not watched, didn't watch it after I made sure the song played). Their Remedy lane album is particularly incredible (it's the one with the song in that video). Description of taste is on page 2.
  3. "Welcome Home" by Coheed and Cambria
  4. Yep! That's my favorite Porcupine Tree Song, followed by Anesthetize.
  5. I ordered a set of cups in elementary school. I never really got into it to the point of timing myself, but it was a bit of fun while it lasted.
  6. MLBfan: the song is "Alive and Kicking" by Nonpoint. The only song I know by them, lol. [hide=This should be easy...]Train set and match spied under the blind Shiny and contoured the railway winds And I've heard the sound from my cousin's bed The hiss of the train at the railway head Always the summers are slipping away A 60 ton angel falls to the earth A pile of old metal, a radiant blur Scars in the country, the summer and her Always the summers are slipping away Find me a way for making it stay When I hear the engine pass I'm kissing you wide The hissing subsides I'm in love When the evening reaches here You're tying me up I'm dying of love It's OK[/hide]
  7. Sorry, forgot to mention that the Flo-rida song is the Travis Barker remix or whatever. No, it was actually confirmed. Source (It's toward the bottom). The reason why I don't like there being multiple songs b the same artist on the disc is because they intend on releasing DLC. I would much rather have a slot used for a duplicate by one artist used for another band to expand the variety of the setlist, and release the other song as DLC so people who like the second song can still play it. Sorta like what Rock Band is doing. You can still have multiple songs by an artist, but people who don't like the band don't have to go through two of their songs. Oh, and I can't freaking wait for thursday so I can play Constant Motion, though I will probably get raped on expert guitar XD.
  8. Strapping Young Lad - "Room 429" I just started listening to these guys, Devin Townsend is freaking incredible.
  9. lockopener, try out some Thrice, in particular their album The Artist in the Ambulance. They are my favorite post-hardcore band (actually the only one I like), I have a feeling that you'll like them as well. Oh, and who doesn't know Holiday in Cambodia? :P. It is far from having anything to do with metal, though. As always, description of my taste is on page 2.
  10. I believe that Crystal Castles is classified as Synth-pop, never heard of the other band.
  11. @jaerkd00d: Since you like Between the Buried and Me, try Opeth, in particular the Ghost reveries or Blackwater Park albums. @Powman: Didn't I recommend you All that Remains? It isn't screaming vocals that I can't stand, it's the singing voices of Matt Tuck and whatever the guy's name is from Atreyu that turn me off from them. I did used to really like Bullet though. Description of taste is on the second page.
  12. Intriguiging, Try out Pain of Salvation, in particular their album Remedy Lane. One of my favorite prog metal bands, and they don't really go into [bleep] mode like DT and people. Did you like Nevermore? My description of taste is on the second page, i think.
  13. Hell if they can take the cover of Rolling Stone.... I about shat my pants when I saw those 3 tools were on the front of RS last month. What a waste of money in my subscription. That cover convinced me not to subscribe to rolling stone after this current subscription runs out.
  14. Apparently they've given that up. At least IV will have it, as the system will be an in-game shop. TBH, I'm going for Guitar Hero World Tour, hands down. RB2's setlist is very good, yes, but GH's is shaping up to be pretty awesome too and they've only released 23 of the songs. Plus, I still have a problem with the square notes of RB, and the generally easy guitar parts. If there is one thing Guitar Hero won't change with IV, it's the excellent charting. The GHWT setlist looks terrible so far, I think. Low by Flo-rida? Two linkin park songs? Double songs by any artist is bad enough on the game disc, and they have confirmed like four artists that will have two songs on the disc, and tool is rumored to have three. That's probably because they are too lazy to actually make a good amount of dlc. Their choice of Metallica song baffles me as well. Why the heck would they pick Trapped under Ice? About easy guitar parts: Thrasher says hello. Though I admit, most songs aren't as hard as guitar hero charts, at least they aren't overcharted to Neptune and back. On a side note, I'm really excited about the Dream theater and Machine head from this weeks dlc. I probably won't be able to pass them on drums at all XD.
  15. Isn't that the same logic you are using to defend Nevermind against Ten?
  16. Completly different they were at eachothers throats all the time. yet both of them claimed to be the father (sole father) of grunge still Nirvana's like 50 billion times better  . no exageration. especially Nevermind. I think you exaggerated greatly. Ten is a much better album than Nevermind. though, it is also the only Pearl Jam album I own. There are way better grunge bands out there though. Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, and Stone Temple Pilots are all MUCH better than either of the aforementioned bands, if only judging by their biggest releases (Siamese Dream, Superunknown, and Purple, respectively.
  17. Most of their stuff sucks. I'd get Killers and Somewhere In Time and leave the rest be. Number of the Beast has some highlights as well, namely, Run to the Hills, the title track, and Hallowed be thy Name.
  18. ou guys realize that this is just a parody of the other vs threads, right? I don't like broccoli very much.
  19. Definately Iron Maiden; I only like Painkiller and screaming for vengeance (Albums) by Judas priest.
  20. The Strum bar was never said to be clicky, they just said it would be less mushy. But, yeah, I really am getting impatient to see how the charts look, at least (grr temporary 360 exclusive). I'm most interested in how Painkiller was charted, as well as Panic Attack. Oh, and the wii version is supposed to have DLC and online play this time.
  21. As far as BtBaM goes, I actually think I like Alaska more than Colors, but I've heard that Colors needs a lot of time to grow, and I haven't listened to it much. I'll have to do a couple of these, as I can't decide on my favorite band, it switches a lot between four: Band: Dream theater Album: Images and Words Still favorite: I have a very hard time determining if Images and Words is better than Scenes or not, so it's tied. Band: Opeth Album: Deliverance Still favorite: No, Blackwater Park blows it out of the water, as well as Ghost Reveries. It is a great album, though. Band: Pain of Salvation Album: The Perfect Element Still Favorite: No, I prefer Remedy Lane. Band: Porcupine tree Album: In Absentia Still favorite: Definitely, though their other albums are amazing as well.
  22. I love how jadeist didn't answer any of my questions that could debunk his claim. And when you're using a synthesizer, it is not like you push a button that says "beat". Similarly to a keyboard, it is extremely difficult to use if you want to sound good.
