Most pures train range so they can get mage defence from black dragon hide armour, and while they train range, they get ranger boots/ robin hat for the bonuses, and as a status symbol, to show that they aren't some poor little newbie. I see it a lot when I train range on my pure. Thats also why most pures have trimmed mage robes.

99 Rcing because of that logic. And then with 99 mage (from rcing), you could tele-grab items, high alch for gold (easy money ftw : ), then teleport everywhere you want to, freeze people...The possibilitys are endless... Bank robbery with mage would pwn too, lioke someone else said.
