  1. Very nicely explained Hardly There are only 2 points in there that would be good evidence: The flaming/phoenix rising from his tomb, and "Fawkes? - "I am not going to answer about the role in the next books, which probably gives you a big clue, and [Fawkes] has never been owned by anyone but Dumbledore." - JKR". Everything else is just inference/crap. He has a phoenix, phoenix's are held in high esteem in the magical world, etc. This proves nothing. Just because he was the transfiguration teacher, doesn't mean he was an animagus. He was probably just as well qualified to teach any subject. Transfiguration is also one of the most difficult subject - Dumbledore is really good. This was, for some reason, put under "Dumbledore as an Animagus". I have no idea why, as it proves nothing towards him being an animagus. Exactly. Now he's dead. That just provides support for him not being an Animagus, and that he is dead. When exactly do we see Jame's patronus? Dumbledore is Dumbledore, he's insane good. If anyone could domesticate a phoenix, he could. Also, I beleive that Pettigrew became a rat because he had an affinity for them. Not the other way around. Phoenixes reanimate from their ashes. Nowhere is it mentioned that wizards could have this power. They would have ensured that no flames would touch his body? The hell? Phoenixes, when they burn, basically spontaneously combust. They're not set on fire. K.. that helps prove that he's an animagus. Yup. I feel obliged to use  here, sorry.  Yeah, he looked like death because he just drank some freaking potion from Voldemort. Doesn't help prove that he's an Animagus whatsoever. Where does it say this? Where does it imply this? Just because he creates a ring of fire from his wand doesn't mean he "has an affinity towards fire" or "has a lot of control over it". For all we know that's a standard spell that any wizard could do. Also, where does it ever say or imply that phoenixes have control over fire? Unless it's something from the Care of Magical Creatures book, which I've admittedly not read.
  2. Actually, the battery itself doesn't store any information, it allows minor electronics to remain powered so that your settings can be saved on them.
  3. crucified- that was somone else's case choice, and the people who criticized BTTF's case choice are not the people that "flamed" you. Not to mention that we didn't say "don't worry about the case", we just said "rethink your choice".
  4. Never heard of a virus or anything speeding up the clock. Most likely your internal clock is just buggered somewhere. Do you have the atomic clock synchronization on? If not, try that. If the built-in windows synchronization doesn't work, which it didn't for me for the longest time, there are a slew of freeware and shareware atomic clock synchronizers out there. Just google it.
  5. I think the video card cooler is pointless. It'll add to your noise level and pull power. I have a 6800 GT and have no heat problems whatsoever. The cold cathode kit Newegg might have. The fans I know Newegg will have. Probably for better price. Did you see my advice about the lights? Also, you really need to go for quieter fans there. I think you'll be seriously unhappy with 2 fans going at 45.6db each..
  6. What is it exactly that you're trying to do? Why do you want to dual boot? I guess I'm not understanding that..
  7. As EugenyG said, rethink your case and HDD choices, seriously. Now, your CPU fan is Socket 754/940. You're getting a socket 939. I'm not sure if 940 is similar enough to 939 for that to work, but definitely look into that. If your case comes with 2 80mm fans, those will be fine, you're not going to do any overclocking.. at least not without a better cpu cooler at least. If your case doesn't come with the 80mm fans you need, don't get the ones you have picked out. You can get them cheaper, and those are almost 50 db. That's really loud. Depending on your case, the 120 mm fan will probably be in the back. If you're going to have your computer somewhere where the back won't be visible or reflective light won't be visible, don't waste money on the LED fan. I would advise against getting the 5.1 speakers now. Just get a 2 or 2.1 system to start with. Then you can save up or use your "reserves". Unless you really feel you want them. You could spend the money you save there on a better mouse/keyboard or a slightly higher processor or.. or.. Now.. aside from that... have you looked elsewhere? I've used newegg.com for a long time and I think you may be able to find some better prices there. EDIT: Also... head down to your local radio shack or whatever and buy an antistatic wrist-strap. They're around or under $10 and are a good safeguard against static. Also.. have you ever built a computer before? Do you have somone there to help you or are you going to be doing it yourself? Do you have a general idea of what you're doing...? 90% of it is fairly easy and straightforward, but, for instance, if you install the cpu/heatsink wrong you could bugger yourself royally.. Not that doing that is that hard, but you have to have an idea what you're doing..
  8. Definitely doesn't look like a vector. If you had made it using vector tools in Photoshop, you wouldbe able to make it 10x that size and have no quality loss. Show me that or I'm not going to beleive it's actuall a vector. You could call it vector-style, though.. in which case it's not bad, but rather busy for my taste.
  9. First term I have: World History AP Economy AP English AP Calculus Web-Design AP Physics World History is gonna be a breeze, I only have it because of a scheduling conflict my sophomore year didn't allow me to have it then. I'm seriously hoping that web-design will be theory-based and not just useless busywork in random Adobe programs that I'll never use again.. Next term I have all the same but World History and Web-Design. In their place I'll have gym (ugh..) and something else, dunno what. Third term I have all the AP courses I have now except for Econ, which will be replaced by Philosophy. If I don't have anymore required classes, I'll probably just have nothing, take it easy..
  10. degauss doesn't work, Matt I just realized that I have my iPod right under that monitor.. but it's right under the other monitor too, and this thing only happens if my monitor has been off for a while and I turn it back on.. Also, now along with the white lines, the screen grows.. so as the lines go away it shrinks back to normal
  11. Most likely a php script. It looks your name up using the highscores, pulls your levels out of the page, and inserts them into that image..
  12. So when're you going to end this, Ryan?
  13. If you actually did draw it, very nice job. It looks rather like it was a pic put through a PS filter, though. But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Looks good. :)
  14. It's not really minimal... Not bad, though.
  15. or maybe it's a dumb idea because it creates rifts and animosity? I can't beleive a "not ___ fan one was even made". That kind of thing isn't allowed here. Remove it from the list, and please, nobody use it. I'm not even sure if the "__ fan" ones should be allowed.
  16. C'mon, guys! It doesn't take that long!
  17. I rather liked what Rob(Futurama) did with the texturing on his pop art stuff, so, I used something similar. 'S also an entry for a graphics battle I'm doing on RSC. Updated a bit: Originals: http://img390.imageshack.us/img390/3042/monkey0up.jpg 2 http://img371.imageshack.us/img371/701/monkey6xn.jpg 1
  18. Not to mention that these things have been out for several years. Much longer in non-retail areas. The government hasn't switched to them. That, to me, means that they're worthless. Not that the government should be followed in everything, but, you have to admit they're good at being secure.
  19. Nice to see something different around here for once..
  20. Perspective is definitely off. Looks like a fish at the moment. Also, the teeth are nice, but extremely symbolic (IE - not realistic). I think you could do better on that. I also think the text placement could be a bit better, throws it off balance at the moment. CoRnMaN- There are basically 2 types of digital art. Raster graphics and vector graphics. Raster graphics are made up of grids of colored squares - pixels. Vector graphics are made up of mathematically defined lines - vectors. These vectors can be fully scaled up and down without any loss in quality, something which raster graphics can come nowhere near. Technically this is actually a raster graphic, but since it was built using vectors, and since you can't really do actual vectors on the web (quite yet.. we're close, evidently), it's called a vector.
  21. Actually the models aren't that great, sorry. Try some more complex things. You'd be surprised what boolean modeling can do. :)
  22. UPS is an Uninterruptable Power Supply, basically a battery-backup system. I wouldn't recommend one unless your power goes out often. They can be $50 - $200 or so, depending on what capacity you need, and it's rather a waste of money unless it'll have a good use. If your power doesn't go out much, just get a surge protector, they're cheap and will protect your stuff from power surges. Oh, also, xyrec, all UPS' (at least all the ones I've seen), have a surge-protector built in.
  23. I downloaded it and have 2 problems with it which will probably keep me from ever playing: -You have to have a username/password -There's a messed-up server system, and it's impossible to get in 'cause they're always full, or something.. It does look interesting, though. It's a shame I couldn't even play it.
  24. Furthermore, the subject of this topic is "Best looking websites". True, but he was arguing that flash was "good design", so.. Looks like a ripoff of phpbb.com to me.. phpbb.com is a good site, though.
  25. . Anyways, the moniter, I would do what runesmithie said. Hmm.. I would do what hannibal said, you know, see if it is the moniter or something else, but eh, thats a problem  . Thank you, Nadril, for your never-ending assistance and insight.
