Another PS3-related question.
Afaik, the newer PS3s aren't backwards compatible with old PS1/2 games. Personally, I'd go for the one with the bigger hard drive and stick to the PS2 for your old stuff.

Stuck at "Loaded update list" when loading Runescape?
Try the advice given, and if that does please post some more info including computer specs. Without these we're limited to what advice we can give.

Basic GIF animating tools
I'd second getting the GIMP. It's an excellent free alternative to most of the pay for programs like photoshop.

Runescape on GPass
It isn't worth the risk. The solution is always to negotiate if possible; he'll just have to convince his parents to unblock RS (assuming that's what they've done).

Our Generation
It's been said many times before and it'll be said many times again. Not all of us are like the stereotypes you posted though.

My computer sucks.
Make sure all the drivers are updated, and that you're not running any unnecessary background software. And upgrade/new pc is really the only way to go though.

average java cpu usage while on runescape
It depends. What are your specs, what's your net speed and what else are you running? As a comparison my average CPU usage was above 50%, with things running in the background, but the game was fine with no lag issues. Some more information about your PC would be useful if you want a definite answer/solution to your problem ;)

Graphic Card Help
The 8200M should perform much better for older games and HD than said Intel chip.

Worlds #1 Sport?
I'd say football (the one you yanks call soccer) is the most popular worldwide. I'd go so far to say that for the really big and popular games, you could easily have 1 Billion people watching. As for watching, I don't really have a favourite.

Runescape on a netbook...
It depends what you mean by run. My brother's laptop can run HD to a certain extent , but I never have played it for long periods of time because the laptop gets extremely hot. It has an Intel GMA945 with 225MB memory, and will run the game full screen with most things turned on. However, after prolonged periods of time the laptop heats up to dangerous temperatures (about 70°C/158°F). It's slightly better when playing in a small window, but it still gets quite hot. So, yes it runs it, but because of the temperature issues I tended to stick to SD.

Best Wallpapers
MY last few have been a variety of pictures I took when I went to South Africa at new year. Before that I used a couple of fractals that I drew/generated in the GIMP. Apologies as this is thread hijacking, but does anyone know of a program which I can use on Windows XP to rotate the backgrounds?

[TF2] It's MANN Vs. Machine!
Just try out all the classes until you find one that you like. You'll get a reasonable idea what to do after a few games, watching other players can help too :)

Laptop advice
Thanks for all the advice so far guys  @Laura: I'm using GB£ as opposed to US$, as I stated originally ;) Although hardware prices are more expensive here, I will be able to get more for £750 than $750. @OldJoe: Just what I was looking for :D All I'd need to go with that would be an OS. Cheapest version of windows vista home premium to go with that I found: http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/product ... P32O&af=50 I don't suppose anyone would know if I could get it cheaper than that?

Uhhh....?
What's your budget? This thread lists several gaming builds that come in at just under $400, though you'll need to buy things like mouse, keyboard and screen separately.

Laptop advice
To cut a long story short, I might be getting a laptop for Christmas so long as I can decide on which one to get. Anyway, I'm looking for something that will be good for working on, and will be able to play modern games on a moderate setting. Since all my previous computers have been Dells I've taken a look round their website to get some ideas. I've got a gut feeling though I could get better value for money, though I don't know where to look :wall:. If anyone has any suggestions, my price range is £500 - £750, and I'd prefer something with an Intel CPU and Nvidia graphics if possible. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks. :D

Because people are ignorant and don't know any better. I'd say the US has typically been a right wing country (and to an extent the UK too). I get the impression that a lot of people in the US attribute socialism to communism, which links back to the cold war and how people were 'educated' to believe that the system of communism run in the USSR was 'evil'.. The collapse of the USSR hasn't helped this much, and simply it's too soon after that for people to 'accept' what the truth really is. I think the political compass sums it up best. (Horizontal scale is economical, Vertical scale is social) Notable persona in the the recent US election: Comparison of other notable figures: People assume that socialism will be similar to the ideas of Stalin (Authoritarian), so therefore will turn against it; when infact it is really at the different end of the social scale (vertical).
