  1. Orange Box Hours of fun in that.
  2. Bad thing to try first, I would only do this unless YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. Undesirable things can happen to your computer; I found this out the hard way. Anyway, some specs would be useful, as would that antiviralware that you've tried. I'd recommend running HijackThis and posting the log on here. No doubt someone will take a look and find if there's any malware on there. You did say Firefox 3 was open when the crashing occured. Does this only happen when you have Firefox open or not? It's possible if you've installed an addon recently that it's causing problems. Try running Firefox in safe mode and see if the problem persists. If not, then it's going to be a case of re-enabling the addons one by one until the offender is found.
  3. It would help if the sticky was there in first place. Seems to have gone awol as far as I can tell :/. It also depends what type of net connection you have. Most people have broadband now, but you could have problems if you're trying to play using a 56K connection. Some specs would be useful though even if that's not the case.
  4. I'd second getting Ccleaner. It's helped me remove a lot of junk Norton left behind (stuff that even the brute force removal tool missed :?) and lots of other old files/registry entries that were no longer needed.
  5. Link fix't: As said, this needs to go here
  6. Depends. If I've got lots of work I may not play at all, but during the holidays I can play up to 5+ hours a day (with breaks).
  7. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/7681914.stm Is this good or bad? Personally I support this since I've always been an atheist and it's my opinion that religion only gets in the way, but I'm guessing some people would take offence to that. Anyway, discuss.
  8. Contrary to what the adverts say, symantec is anything but security. I had many problems with Norton Internet Security. It hogged resources. It missed things. The firewall caused many problems. The tech support was rubbish. (And for all that it cost money.) Put simply, Norton was good back when my parents got their first computer in 1998, but now it's just useless to the point of becoming malware itself. Anyway, I don't mine the adds. Avira Antivir's better detection rates and speed more than make up for it.
  9. Tetris. Enough has been said.
  10. Pretty sure the OP means internet browser tabs ;) You need to upgrade to IE7 if you want tabs, as I'm guessing you've still got IE6. (Or, you could get Firefox, which also has tabs)
  11. Okay, some things to do that could help: [*] Make sure all your software is up to date. [*] Try with a different browser, see if you get the same problem. If you don't, it's possible that you've got an addon which is causing you problems. To resolve this, you'll need to start firefox in safe mode and then re-enable your addons one by one until you find the culprit. [*] Make sure you haven't got a firewall/filtering software which is restricting your access to RS. [*] Run HijackThis, and post the log on here. That should show if you have any malware at all.
  12. More info please. What browser are you using? What version of java are you using? Have you got other applications running in the background using the internet? Have you virus scanned? Have you got he latest updates for your software? Who's yours ISP, and are you sure it's not a fault on their part? Sorry, but there is a sticky, so please read it.
  13. I use process explorer myself, mainly because I prefer it to task manager. However as Clare said, if you're having problems like that with task manager itself, you really need to find out what's wrong and sort things out.
  14. How about simply using middle mouse to open 'free users' then using the original tab for normal browsing?
  15. I didn't get any software with the phone :/ The manual just said to switch usb settings to 'memory card' mode and the drivers should install themselves. That gave me said problem, and downloading official drivers off motorola's website hasn't helped. Anyway, I'm going to contact Motorola support. Thanks anyway though.
  16. It really bugs me that there's a sticky about this and yet so many people seem to ignore it :/. Perhaps putting the title in capitals? There is little we can do to help at the moment, as Devnull said, because we NEED more information? What version of Java do you have? What version of Firefox do you have? What are your computers specifications (Go to Run and type 'dxdiag')? More information please :!:
  17. Might also be worthwhile to add whereabouts you are. No good all of us trying to get together if half of us have massive latency :/. Anyway, all my info is over there <---
  18. I wonder how he escaped from the hospital...
  19. Hmm, I'd suggest having a look at the two following threads I found. Might be of some use to you. (Both links are safe) http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/Windows- ... 59033.html http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/Lost-XP- ... l&hl=theme
  20. When you say theme selection doesn't work what actually happens? Do the Windows XP themes not appear when you go Right click (desktop > Properties > Appearances > Windows and Buttons > Windows XP style; or can you not even get that far?
  21. I'm having a little trouble connecting my KRZR mobile phone up to my computer. I have followed the instructions and downloaded the correct drivers off the Motorola website, and when I connect my phone up to the computer it appears as Removable disk (F:). However, when I click on it I get the error message "Please insert a disk into drive F:". I am confused as to why this is happening. My computer normally connects up to usb sticks and my brothers iPod fine. The only other issue I have which might be related to this is that I have a 'ghost' G: drive. Any ideas what could be the problem? Many thanks :)
  22. It was, but not so much now. When vista came out the problem was that most cheaper laptops only just met the requirements of vista; or that ones bough with windows vista capable sticker were only good enough to run home basic, and people were putting premium and ultimate on them. If you buy a decent laptop now it should run vista fine. The only exceptions I can think to this are really small cheap ones such as the Asus Eee,
  23. Hmm, are you always trying the same world or different ones? I doubt it's something to do with the server but you never know. Do you have any other programs running in the background that might affect your connection? Things like MSN, IRC, Steam, Updater programs etc. They shouldn't have an effect, but it might be worth looking in to.
  24. I have only ever been sent one of these 4 years ago, and I ignored it. Haven't had another since.
