  1. There was one, I can remember, but I'm not sure if we lost it or not. Anyway mine's not very fast, I get about 520kbit/s download and 220kbit/s upload. Should be upgrading to 10x that soon though :)
  2. And the graphics card? I'm assuming it's good enough, but it might be worth while updating the drivers and such. I'd also try clearing out your browsers cookies and cache. You can do this in IE by going to Tools options and deleting 'Temporary Internet Files' and 'Cookies'.
  3. Some things to do: [*:1ptihr4e]Update your Java [*:1ptihr4e]Update your graphics drivers [*:1ptihr4e]Update to the latest (sub)version of your browser [*:1ptihr4e]Defragment your hard drive [*:1ptihr4e]Clear your browsers cache and cookies and try again [*:1ptihr4e]Clear the Jagex cache If this fails, some system specs would be useful.

Elder scrolls 4: Oblivion is supposed to be very good, not tried it myself though.
  5. Personally I prefer Avira over AVG, as I found it to be slightly quicker and it has a better detection rate, and Avira has rootkit scan as standard in the free version. If you don't mind paying for something then NOD32 is supposed to be good too. I'll second Adblock plus for Firefox, it's a great add-on which removes nearly all slow loading and annoying flash adverts.
  6. I'm sorry, but full stops please? I'd try and help but I'm having a tough time trying to understand what you're on about. :|
  7. Who said he was talking about steam... theres the Orange box on Consoles you know. He posted on the steam thread so I think it's fair to say he has the PC version
  8. I'd suggest using the TIF steam community thread for discussion about Half Life and Portal :)
  9. I was until very recently using Norton and it gave me nothing but trouble. It's slow, misses things, and to add to that, the customer support is rubbish. Anyway, I'm confused by what you're saying. Did you try logging from school or home? If you did the former, then it's little wonder your password was stolen.
  10. People being kicked for saying s*** by typing; but an admin being ignored when saying oh f*** yes. >_>
  11. I've been using custom themes on Firefox 2 and 3 for a while now, and have no problems at all running Rs. I even tried AeroFox and it still worked fine. I doubt it's that. I know you've probably been told this already, but try the following: [*:23jlb4jk]Updating your graphics drivers [*:23jlb4jk]Updating to the latest version of Java [*:23jlb4jk]Updating to the latest 'sub version' of Firefox. 2.0.0.17 or 3.0.3, depending on which main version you happen to be using. [*:23jlb4jk]If necessary doing a reinstall of all of the above. [*:23jlb4jk]Clearing out the JaGex cache. [*:23jlb4jk]Try disabling all of your addons. It could be one of them is causing a problem, so if you disable them all and re-enable them one by one you can find it. If not, some system specs would be useful :)
  12. A simple google search would have told you that it's a portable media player -.- What exactly have you tried? I'd say the easiest way would be to avoid any software that comes with it when plugging it into your computer. Assuming you're on Windows, go to My Computer, and it should appear as an external drive. If you open that, the should pictures be stored in there, or a subfolder.
  13. They did it to the PS1, so I'd give it a 99.99% chance they'd stop making games for the PS2 at some point. It'll be a gradual thing though, you'll probably still be able to buy new games for a year or two yet.
  14. Okay, I installed Spybot S&D yesterday, and all seems to working fine when I did. I've had a seperate issue with internet, but that's not because of this. I also decided to stick to the windows firewall. I haven't really got anything that important stored on this PC anyway, and what is is backed up on a regular basis. Thanks for the advice though everyone :)
  15. I'd recommend VLC. It's been improved quite a bit since about a year ago. The interface is better (volume is no longer a progress bar :P), and several features now work much better than they did before. It doens't hog nearly as much memory as WMP does either. As for CCCP, I haven't used this, so I can't compare.
  16. I've been using Avira AntiVir free now as a replacement for Norton now and it's worked great. No more memory hoggage, and it's found stuff that Norton didn't. However, I'm now looking to find a free replacement for anti-spy/adware. I have been using Ad-Aware SE for a while now but it's aging and I really want to find something new. Is Ad-Aware 2008 the way to go or is Spybot S&D better? I've heard some good things and bad things about each, but I'm unsure which is the best. Also, I'm unsure about firewalls. I've been told that because I use a router, I don't need one. Is this true? I haven't configured it in any way to port forward anything, so I am safe? And one final question, is it worth spending money on buying an all-in-one 'anti' package or sticking to using free versions for each thing? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :).
  17. Lego! \ Used to have bucket loads of the stuff. I even had the train and the film studio sets.
  18. Getting the latest drivers is an absolute MUST! I'd make sure you update yours on a regular basis, checking once a month for new releases is a good idea.
  19. Has she tried getting a HijackThis log, and getting someone to take a look at it? Aside from Virus/Malware scans that's all I can think of.
  20. How about answering the guy's original question? Sure GIMP is better, but sometimes MS Paint is all you want. Also, there are a multitude of free programs that are of equal quality to photoshop if not better. Easiest way to crop: Ctrl A to select everything. Move the top left corner of the image you want to the top left corner of the canvas. Then, click on the small square by the edge of the canvas on the bottom right corner. Drag this until the image is the size you want it to be.
  21. Isn't there a version included on the disk? Most games usually include a fairly recent version of the latest directx, but maybe spore doesn't. Anyway, what you're looking for: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en This should contain the latest version.
  22. +1 to the BSOD screensaver :)
  23. I missed this completely :/ * - Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Electronics A - English Lang, English Lit, Geography, Biology (being remarked, close to *) B - Music, German (Also being remarked, close to A) Fairly pleased with that, and it's enough to do Physics at a decent University \

Payload in Team Fortress 2 and Onslaught in UT2004. Both are original and great fun to play :D.
  25. Use an IE theme and if possible, an addon which changes the Mozilla Firefox to Windows Internet Explorer. Firesomething did this, but it doesn't work on version 3. Most likely they won't be able to tell the difference :P
