Post your Speedtest.net results!
My speed always seems to better when I connect to American servers :P I'm looking to switch ISP soon, though the maximum I can get where I live is 6Mb dl speed.

java.exe
RuneScape is very CPU heavy, always has been. It's perfectly normal, so there's no need to worry :)

What games could this laptop run?
Should have gone in tech and computers really. As said, what video card? If it's got integrated you'll be lucky to run any newer games.

Overclocking
I guess I need a new computer then  Cheers for the advice guys, I see now that it's not really worth doing given there's a high chance I might break something.

WMP -.-
Equalizer: Sets the sound levels of different things. I think in WMP it's listed as Graphic Equalizer or something like that Codecs: The files that WMP needs to decode the information on the DVD into pictures and sound. VLC: Free open source media player that plays just about every type of media file under the sun.

Overclocking
I've been thinking about this for a while now, but I've got a couple of question before I go ahead and do (break) anything. So PC Specs first: Dell 9100 375W PSU  Stock Dell/Intel Mobo, as far as I know Intel Pentium 4 HT 3.2Ghz 3GB DDR2 Ram, 2x512MB PC2-3200 & 2x1GB PC2-5200 Nvidia 8600GT 512MB GPU (afaik, this is the DDR2 version) Would it possible to overclock any of this? My only real concern is the PSU, since it's a prebuilt. I've seen several applications on the internet which supposedly allow for easy overclocking for a variety of different CPUs/GPUs but are these any good, or are they best avoided? If I could overclock it, how much change in performance would I notice? Currently I can play 'orange box' source games on near highest settings and get about 30fps. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks :)

The White Crayon
I thought this was going to be about race too :P I always used it for blending, haven't done art for ages though now.

IP addresses and their effects in runescape
That still doesn't give any reason for them to do it. Why go to the effort of inserting the code in if it's only going to make the game worse for a small minority of people and not affect anyone else? You're a physics undergraduate and yet you can't be bothered to look it up on Google? So, moderating a forum makes someone an expert on the subject on whatever the forum is about? And also, one result isn't really enough to support this. Yes other people are complaing about this too, but have you compared other things whilst trialling it out? Have you tested connection speed? Are you always running exactly the same internet-using programs each time? Sure people can test it out, but how can we tell if the results are reliable or not? Especially when the theory says that it should have no effect what so ever. Posting a link to the forum of what could be a photo-shopped image with a lot of people saying 'lol' does not support your point in the slightest. My first comment was perfectly reasonable. Like I said, common sense and 'the theory' states that there should be no effect as I pointed out.

IP addresses and their effects in runescape
*Sigh* You don't get it do you. It's like the so called Xbox 360 towel trick. The theory behind that is if you put a towel round a 360 with a red ring, it will supposedly overheat and remelt the solder. This isn't the case, as a physics undergraduate you probably know that solder generally melts at temperatures of 180oC or higher which you can't get just by wrapping the towel round the console. This is the same. It's a 'myth' as such. The effect you described is either just down to chance, or varying internet speeds. Why would JaGex insert any code in the game at all to produce this effect? They need your money after all to maintain a profitable business. Why would they want to do this if they knew it would put some people off playing the game? What about IPv6? I'd like to see some source to back this up please. Has this been posted anywhere else, or did you just rip it straight off the Rsof? What research have you done? What so called 'experts' are you on about here? I'm sorry, but I doubt you'll get very far on these forums if you just come in here making claims like this. EDIT: Quick find code: 25-26-674-58121060 - Page 4.

IP addresses and their effects in runescape
Where on earth did you read this? I'm afraid to say you are wrong; despite your claims of 'tried and tested', it's quite clearly a load of bunk. Having a lower number on the fourth part of your IP does not make the game respond to your click faster. Your IP has nothing to do with priorities in game.

What Game(s) Did You Last Get and What Are You Playing?
Just got Fable: Lost Chapters and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. : Clear Sky. Was part of a bargain deal at game, and I wanted to get an RPG of some sort.

Guess the Game
It was [Linley's] Dungeon Crawl, yes. Also, that is definitely is the The Hidden: Source. The HUD is the same. See: http://www.infinitumresearch.com/main.php?page=4#617

McAfee
As I said before No. Just because a lot of people use it and it's 'bigged up' by the company who makes it doesn't make it one of the best. McAfee is bloated, misses things and is relatively slow. There are many free alternatives that will give better protection, though if you want to pay NOD32 will outstrip McAfee by a long way.

Left 4 Dead
There are actually a lot of different models in the game (especially compared to other games by Valve like Half-Life :P). Also, hHave you considered that People need to be able to identify the special infected easily? It's all very well having different models and such, but it'd make the game a lot more harder if there were like 20 different types of smoker, which can be quite hard to make out from the other zombies at a distance. To add to that tanks are powerful enough anyway on advanced and expert. Having ones which would be faster/stronger would just be too difficult, because it'd be hard to work out any kind of strategy you'd need when dealing with them.

Video games and time
Do you regret the time you lost playing video games? Nope. Taking the past 2 weeks for example (According to steam, 74 hours!), I've been on the christmas break, have had pretty much no work to do, and the temperature is really cold outside. Why not? I've had many a good game, enjoyed myself and it's a rare opportunity that doesn't come around very often. What videogame have you clocked the most hours on RuneScape. Which game do you keep on playing occasionally? TF2, L4D, CnC: Red Alert 3 and Tetris. Will you introduce your kids to video games or will you let them spend their time elsewhere? Yes. I wouldn't let them play excessively of course, but I wouldn't stop them altogether. Why do you spend upwards of 10 hours on videogames in a week? Because it's fun. 10 hours isn't a huge amount of time anyway; like Nadril said people watch a lot more TV than that, so why not play games instead? Are/were your parents right?, Are videogames a waste of time? My parents never see it as a waste of time, provided I get all the important things like work done and keep good grades; and I've pretty much always agreed with them.

[HijackThis] Please look [Still Unsolved]
Have you considered the possibility you might not have one? :P Might be best to run HijackThis though, and post the log on here so someone can check for you. McAfee isn't a very good AV anyway. Try something else like Avira (free) or NOD32 (pay for).

"Reported Attack Site!"
Use a different image host like tinypic? Looks more a like an issue that's being caused by a faulty/bugged DNS.
-
Recommend an antivirus?
Ad-aware is anti spyware, not anti virus ;) Still worth having though.

Recommend an antivirus?
Avira is an excellent free one (outstrips AVG by a long way) or if you don't mind paying NOD32 is good too.
