  1. During my routine weekly scan on Avira something came up which I'm a bit concerned about: I did a Google search for this [Dc6[Caution: Executable File]] and it's apparently a backdoor trojan. I had a look in C:\RECYCLER, and apparently the total size size of said folder is 0mb, any google info says the virus in question should be about 170Mb or so. I also haven't noticed any of the problems associated with said trojan which came up on the google results; I've had no browser popups (I'm using ABP on Fx 3.1b2 if this makes any difference) and I haven't noticed/logged any random processes running. Apart from a few tracking cookies, I haven't had anything come up on this computer since I first installed Avira and it found all the things that Norton didn't, and this is the first time I've seen this warning. Need I be worried? Here's a HJT log if you need it: What should I do?
  2. Sounds like a net problem of some sort. Are you using wireless? If so, have you tried connecting directly to the homehub using a wire and seeing if problem persists? Also, what other programs are you running when on RS that use the internet?
  3. +1. More information! Is this RS? What OS are you using, windows or something else?
  4. Which developer is 'they'? Crytek? It'll happen soon enough though.
  5. I never really like WW2 games or the CoD series that much to be honest. The only real reason I got CoD 4 in the first place was because it wasn't set in WW2, and the PC multiplayer kind of sucked because there were no prestiges. Got boring too fast.
  6. So much could happen between now and 100 years in the future it's impossible to say. There might not even be humans around then for all we know.
  7. Couple of things, you're running a low resolution. Most reviews tend to be done at higher ones such 1680x1050 or 1920x1200, which is more twice the number of pixels on your screen. Also, review sites nearly always use the benchmarking tool. This deliberately stresses your PC by showing the game's maximum capabilities, meaning the fps rate they get will be a lot lower than the one you'll actually get when playing.
  8. Just found an old copy of pokemon gold recently, I've managed to beat the third gym so far. Any recommendations on what pokemon I should get? :P I've only got 3 at the moment, Level 20 somethings Weepinbell and Quilava, and the level 5 Togepi from the egg. Also, how well does the time capsule work using the wireless connection on the Gameboy colour? I've got some pokemon on red I'd quite like to trade over.
  9. I'm looking for a new FPS for the PC, one with a decent single player campaign. I was thinking of maybe getting Far Cry (1, it's quite cheap now) or Mirror's Edge, any other suggestions though? My specs: P4 HT 3.2Ghz 3GB RAM Nvidia 8600GT 512MB Stuff I've already got: HL2 + Episodes CoD 4 STALKER - Clear Sky
  10. CCleaner may speed it up a bit, though the RAM will be a real bottleneck. My dad's computer has the same specs that you listed and still takes about 3 minutes to boot after I removed a lot of unwanted things from it. The main problems I found were things like internet browsers (Firefox will easy use more than 100Mb of memory), and Antivirus.
  11. Raid the tower in that town for the Flash HM? I worked it out eventually, just beat the third gym and I still only have 3 pokemon, one of them being the lvl 5 Togepi from the egg :P.
  12. Odd how there was nothing on l4d.com (the official site) about that.
  13. All of the sounds in the game are stored in the game folders as .wav, so you can easily edit them if you want :) The default directory is C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\left 4 dead\left4dead\sound . Everything is there, from the gunshots to the tank music. This is assuming you have the PC version though :P
  14. One of the expansions is already out, bloody rip off too. Just found an old copy of Pokemon Gold, can't remember what you're supposed to do after the first gym though.
  15. Nope :o I'll probably stick with the default ones, but I'll have a look anyway.
  16. Never had any problems thankfully
  17. This is a PC and not a laptop right? Might be worth checking how many watts your PSU gives. If it's a prebuilt it will probably only just cover what's inside the PC, a lot of the newer cards can be quite power hungry which is a problem if you want to upgrade. Other than that, a 9600GT will do fine for source engine (orange box) games.

Almost no snow where I live :(, about an inch or two maybe. I'm also doubtful I'll get any time off, my school rarely closes due to bad weather.
  19. It doesn't say anything about graphics cards. Edit to the post below me: Oh that's the graphics card tab? I thought it was system. Anyway its "Intel® 82945G Express Chipset Family" There's your problem. That's an integrated card which isn't powerful enough to run orange box games.
  20. I find system requirement labs is often inaccurate. For example it says my computer will only just run Red Alert 3, when in actually fact it runs it fine on highest with a decent framerate.
  21. Favourite Guides website: I generally don't look at guides unless it's something someone's done on a forum and they want constructive criticism. Favourite Review website: ZP ofc. :P Favourite PC gaming website: Uhm, none really. Favourite Gaming forums: Uh...here? :
  22. Dumbest in what sense? A friend of mine bought Big Rigs: Over the Road the Racing as a joke, and I played it at his house. It was so buggy it made me lol quite a lot.
  23. Are you serious? My 17 year old classmate took to shine his light on the witch "because she was pretty".   I'm 17 and I find that quite funny.

I was using my dad's digital Nikon D80 Camera with a wide angle lens, I don't think it has a filter though I'm not entirely sure. I don't think it was burnt in, I'd taken other pictures with the camera before I took that one and I haven't noticed anything. I even had the camera on a tripod outside, so it isn't caused by windows or anything. I'm going to take some more pictures this evening so I'll see if the camera lens has a filter on it or not. EDIT: Turns out the lens had a UV filter on it. I removed it, and I haven't got any 'ghosts' on my new pictures. Still, I suppose it looked quite cool :P
  25. I read a lot of American books and such, but my school English teachers did penalize on any American spellings, so I've always used British ones. I never usually notice spelling differences anyway, and imo as long as your consistent, neither method of spelling is better.
