2 things that might help. Make sure you haven't got an overzealous firewall/anti virus program which is blocking programs or certain ports on your pc, such as 6667 which is the main one used by many irc servers. You should be able to allow connections through if you tweak the settings on the program. Aside from that, I've had problems with swiftirc when I connect to irc.swiftirc.net. I got round this by connecting to a specific server, lunar.nl.eu.swftirc.net (There's a list of servers on their website, so you can choose the closest) instead.

It's honestly easier to buy more RAM than to use ReadyBoost. I've just upgraded my machine from 1GB to 3GB, and it only cost me £27, which is a similar price to most USB memory sticks.

This really should be locked, no point in it and it's asking for flame. Anyway, no matter what OS you choose, be it Windows, Mac or Linux; each later version will nearly always be more bloated than the last. Seeing as computer power doubles every 2 years, devs will always find new things to include whether you need/want them or not, just because there is the extra power to do so.

So long as you don't install the 'advert' bits on your computer you should be fine. Never have liked Plus though. I use emesene personally.

Heh, I remember playing those back on Windows 95, I think I still have all episodes from 1 to 6 somewhere. My favourite had to be 5, although some of the later levels were really tricky. It caused much s[racist term] I remember because of the way keen clutches his crotch when he dies.

Might want to add, Firefox is more standards compliant that IE (Though Opera beats both), yet both have their own quirks for rendering certain bits of css and suchlike.

I believe the world switcher is still in standard detail. Should tell you what world you're on when the game has loaded, and you just click on it to change. Or you could just go back a page seeing as JaGex have removed the redirect script from the website.

I haven't had any problems with playing Firefox. I haven't used IE for over a year on my computer, and I hope it stays that way.

Backburner > COmpressed air .. CA takes 25 ammo and ammo is very short for pyro and back burner gives +50 hp which is so handy. And the increased chance of a critical hit. With a medic on you, it takes you up to 300hp (iirc), and that's very, very useful considering how powerful the flame thrower is.

I get the jumping back problem, but not very often. My laptop is a completely different make and model, and I'm running a different version of Windows. I'm not sure if it's me catching on the touch pad or something like that, I have done that quite a few times no and I suspect it may be part of the problem. I suspect in RS the problem is a similar thing. I haven't had any problems with minimisation though.

As will be said many, many times; Quality > Quantity. Just because you want a higher post count won't make your information any more useful or believable. A friend of mine put it a good way: "Increasing the size of your post count does not increase the size of your...motherboard." (To be polite. You can probably work out what I mean though ;) ). Back on topic, I'd recommend just upgrading the graphics card, and your pc should be fine. My main pc has similar specs (3.2GHz P4, 1GB RAM, 256MB ATI Radeon X600), and I can run the game fine with all settings turned to high bar Anti-aliasing which is set to 2x. If you want to upgrade your graphics card, but don't want to spend as much, a Nvidia Geforce 8600GT should be fine. Also bear in mind the game will be laggy this week, as it has just been released to f2p, which means there are going to be a few million people downloading the required files.

Have you administrator access on the computer? Some people have had issues being that they can't load the game unless they are logged on as administrator, or an account with admin privileges. Failing that, some system specs would be useful. You can find these by going to run and typing 'dxdiag', assuming you are using windows.
