^Correct If you don't explain why you beat them, they're still as confused if you give them a time out by your reasoning, Vezon. Besides, children cannot reason as well as we do - don't think they can. Also, if you punish them with something they love (you gotta pay attention to what they dislike/like, maybe that's why parents resort to beating because they're too lazy to do this?) it's worse to them than getting beat up.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Uhm... I'm feeling a bit dense at the moment, can you explain what this means to me? I think what he meant to say was.... Anyway as much as I honestly don't care for the show, but I'm starting to like this Pony fad more and more. From what I gather (sorry if I'm wrong) he is saying that it is nice to see some disagreement because no matter how much these people piss and moan, bronies don't feel offended. Instead, these people are being met with "love and tolerance." (Once again, I'm sorry if that isn't what you meant. I don't want to put words in your mouth.) Sort of. I'll admit I worded it pretty badly, but here goes: A lot of people are very dense in thinking on strict guidelines such as "cartoons are for kids/MLP is for girls thus I and every male over the age of 14 shouldn't like this show". But men over the age of 14 DO like the show. Their opinion on what should and shouldn't be right has been challenged and they complain/moan/[bleep] about it but they can never change the world around them because bronies will like ponies and that's that. Period. Bronies are shoving the fact that what he thinks is right/correct isn't universal and he should, frankly, stop complaining/moaning about it. Also I do like that bronies, at least those that follow "love and tolerate you", don't return a massive retribution when someone says "lol ponies sux".

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Teacher's assistant. I don't see anything wrong with it though. You're both roughly the same age, correct? Go for it.

Beliefs, Religion and Faith.
What would be the point of putting us here in the first place if he was just going to do everything for us? Still, he can help us: he's all-powerful. But he doesn't help us. He's an jerk isn't he? Once again: What would be the point? The point of helping us? He's supposed to be a nice guy. But you're saying he isn't. Which is fine. Then I have to question why millions would worship a jerk.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Thank you for saying what I forgot to say. I have no problem if you say "I hate this show, and here is why." One thing that I have noticed is a change in my attitude towards people. When I started into the community, I realized that maybe the world wasn't all about straight white people (me in this case). Since then, I have become more accepting of other types of people (especially gays) that I have always hated in the past. The whole "I'm going to love and tolerate the shit out of you" thing isn't just something we say; it really is the way we live, or at least the way I live. It is sort of the like Boy Scout Oath and Law. It is the basic principle that you should live by. I expect parents to teach this rule, but if a colorful cartoon teaches you then better late than never I say. Another thing I also hope this teaches people is that cartoons are not always for kids, getting us out of this Animation Ghetto as people have dubbed it. Hopefully giving incentives to present and future animators to make shows more for a general audience than the two extremes we have now: kid-humor and adult-humor. But I'm rambling on right now.

I always wondered. If God is all-knowing, all-powerful, all-nice why does he let bad things happen? I understand he doesn't have to give a damn about us, but, if he can stop it and doesn't he is technically an ass. Correct?

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
But why would you go in just to say you dislike it? It can be justified a bit if you explain why, but just stating your negative opinion isn't really polite. I don't go around posting "i h8 ths" in all the threads I don't like. Anyway as much as I honestly don't care for the show, I'm starting to like this Pony fad more and more. It's making people get angry for no reason as if the world finally doesn't revolve around them in their likes/dislikes. Keep up it bronies.

Things that annoy the HELL out of you.
Probably to prove that you were paying attention during the lecture and not just drawing Batman or something? Pretty much. Teachers who have no energy in trying to teach would just put up a powerpoint and make the student copy line per line. I've already got something to say to students as a teach regarding notes: "You've ever seen Law and Order? How the detectives write on their notepad as the witnesses talk? You think they write every single thing said? No. You think they just scribble around? No. But they write enough so lawyers weeks later can convict the murderer to jail."

Talking about toilets, I never liked looking at the lid not being down. I know this is a woman problem, but it always bugged me when a toilet has it's lid up; It looks so much nicer down.

Europa Universallis 3, Victoria 2, Hearts of Iron 3
That Swiss screenshot is actually from my recent game. Gotta love defensive generals + mountains. <3: I would highly recommend Hearts of Iron if you've always dreamt of a more militaristic Victoria campaign.

Europa Universallis 3, Victoria 2, Hearts of Iron 3
Greetings TIF. I decided to combine these three games into one thread, because they will not get enough traffic individually. They are all very similar in concept, but different in design. These three games are grand strategy games covering three distinct eras of history: the age of colonization, the Victorian era, and WW2. These games try to model as realistically as possible and so far I have never seen a strategy game more realistic. These games easily make my top 10 favorite games of all time. So! If you're a strategy player who wants more of a challenge, these games might be for you! If you're tired of constant Zurg charges and want more thought, these games might be for you! If you find annexing an entire country in 1 battle is bullshit, then these games might be for you! What I love about these games is that you can be ABSOLUTELY ANYBODY YOU EVER WANT. Want to transform tiny Luxemburg into a world power? You can - and good luck! Want to be Stalin and crush not only Hitler but Churchill too? You bet! Europa Universalis III (EU3) http://www.europauniversalis3.com/ 1399-1821 Based on the era of colonization and monarchies, you lead your country through greatness. Considered as the easiest of the three to get into, it has a nice balance between militaristic conquest and peaceful exploration/colonization. You can colonize the Americas, marry off your heirs for a chance to inherit another kingdom, or take up arms for the French Revolution! In-game screenshot of a player Sweden expanding his borders. [hide][/hide] Victoria 2 (Vic2/Vicky2) http://www.victoria2.com/ 1836-1936 My favorate out of the three and considered the most hardest to learn out of them. Based on the Victorian era, you lead any country into an age of colonization, nationalism, and economics. Industrialize your country, influence communist revolutions, push for political reforms, kick the French out of Alsace-Lorraine, or start World War 1. A perfect balance of economics and military, this game is damn good at representing the Victorian era as an age of industrialization and militant expansion. In-game screenshot of a communist Switzerland kicking Austrian ass. (It was technically a defeat because they pulled out) [hide][/hide] Victoria 2 (HoI3) http://www.heartsofirongame.com/ 1936-1948 The most militant game of the three and the most accurate in military strategy. Become any nation during WW2 and fight to an unconditional surrender! In this game, being a Nazi isn't as "bad". You command the military and very little of the economic system of your country. If you like WW2 this is a must-game for you. Send forces across the globe, research the ability to produce an atomic bomb, and liberate Poland from the Soviets if you wish! A very fun game if you like to kick ass on a global scale. In-game screenshot of the Polish Invasion of 1939. RIP Poland. [hide][/hide] And those are three of the biggest Paradox games. There are many others, such as a Europa Univerallis of the Roman Empire, Pride of Nations a simplier Victoria 2, and many more. So, TIF. Anybody play these wonderful games? Anybody thinking of playing them? I know these games will suit a few of you. In fact, I believe Dusty actually made an AAR (After-Action Report, which is like a little commentary of your game you publish on forums) on the EU3 game. Discuss or ask questions!
