Bumping this old thread of mine, the method outlined in this thread was found to not work only in 2008, so it should still work, theoretically, for the 2007 server.

Yep, but I think I let them go to waste, since I honestly didn't need any more captains (I have 5 10k captains). I might use them again once I find out what trait missions Pincer has on offer and if they are worth the effort to change them

I don't think so, at the moment trade good voyages are rare! I got my 20th scroll now =D 16 to go =3 then I'll see what I'll choose of the scrimshaws! Yes, but that won't change the fact that somewhere down the line, you will only ever go after trade goods anyway and you won't even care about any other resources because you simply don't need them. On a side note, in case no one knew, the max amount of Life boat you can hold onto, unused, is 1. I had a random earlier this morning and got a life boat, only to get the dreaded "You are holding the maximum number of...." message. Glasses and FotS are still at 3 though. <showoff> With anyluck I should complete my Vampyrism scrimshaw today, and leaving me with 36 scrolls left to get (8 scrimshaws and the soup), probably will go after the mage random elemental damage scrimshaw next, unless someone has better suggestions? :P </showoff>

After my first year in college, even the price of second hand books was enough for me to stop buying any of the large text books recommended by my lecturers. I spent more on 1 text book than I did for the rest of my college career combined. especially considering most of those text books are only 'somewhat' useful during the year they are offered, and then they become reference books. I just borrow them from the library.

In the interest of RS 2007, instead of updating this guide for EoC Barrows, I will now only edit this guide to remove all references (or at least as much as possible) of Items that were available only after Aug 10th 2007. I will be writing a completely new guide for the EoC Barrows These include, but not limited to: Spirit shields Chaotic Equipment Godwars equipment Polypore Equipment Dragon Claws While the editing is in progress, the main method of barrowing in 2007 are: 1. Bolt spells with Chaotic Gauntlets from Family Crest 2. Slayer Dart 3. Blast Spells 4. Black Salamander 5. Verac'ing 6. Ancients Dear Mods: If you are reading this, could you please change the thread title to "Complete 2007 Barrowing guide"? I cannot find the option to do so

I wonder if the ideal crew setup would change if you get to the point where you only go for Trade good voyages, and nothing else.

Yes, but getting a PC that can run the latest releases on the same performance as consoles isn't exactly cheap initial capital, and neither is getting upgrades for the PC. And there is also the expertise in question, you either would have to learn how to do it (and I am sure a lot of people won't go to that length to just play a game), or pay someone else to do it for you, adding even more cost. Did I mention the OS cost? Last, but not the least, the software cost differences between PC and Console pretty much come to 0 if you trade your used games back to the shop (you can never trade back steam games for example, while you do own the game for as long as steam is in business). Consoles are just one big convenience package that the only serious question you ever have to ask yourself is which platform would you prefer, then everything else is done for you without needing any further professional assistance. You have to do your homework for PCs, no matter how little, which an entry level casual gamer would not be very attracted by. They'd probably just want fun straight out of the box.

2007 - Old School RuneScape... You Vote! - [It's Here!]

*Logs on to Proper RS*3 *Sees 1 person out of 200 that I have not seen logging on in years onto 2007* Yep, not going to touch RS 2007, have fun with it all, I am not replaying my RS career again. -
An up to date console is several hundred dollars at best, usually around 200-300 An up to date PC is at least several times worth that. A new console is update for as long as that console is in circulation, which is a good 5 years at least if you buy it during release. A new PC is only up to date for several years, definitely nowhere near the lifespan of a completely new console. The only kinds of people who cannot setup a brand new console properly is probably one who cannot read (and even then he can get by with just hitting things randomly) The only kinds of people who can setup a PC properly (be it self made or bought the whole thing) are ones who have actual experience in doing so. The amount of games available only on Console is more numerous (at least more apparently numerous) than PC The stereotype of PC gamers has not yet been dissappated. PC systems are prone to slow-downs and failure if not maintained properly, console systems do not tend suffer from that problem. With the above arguments of mine, while PC can be powerful graphically, it is still extremely hard for PC to compete properly against other consoles because of practically everything else that make consoles stand out. (Note, these are from a die-hard fan of PC gaming)

All well and true, but there are some crucial points that needs to be taken into account: 1. Setting up a console is absolutely trivial compared to setting up a PC properly, even if the latter is now also very easy thing to do. That allows even the most technophobic people to get started on consoles 2. If the game says "Designed for (insert console name here)", you can expect it to run on that console whether it you bought it yesterday or last decade, that does NOT happen with PC (especially with hardware being obsolete in very short time span nowadays). You need to know your computer's spec to determine whether it is runnable on your PC, and the standards of games after a couple of years will always go up, but never for consoles. 3. There is also the games availability for each platform. There is no point in getting/arguing for a PC if the game you really want to play is not available on it.

You can send one of them off for an xp mission (yes waste, but ok) and the other one will be rerolled to possibly give you a scroll. Still, sucks :S. Sometimes that does not work, I once had two adventurers which gave me two double voyages (for resources and XP IIRC), no single ones. I had to use 2 adventurer rerolls in order to get a scroll mission in the past 3 days, which otherwise would have resulted in none 98% into bowl, should hit pincer when I return home today... about f'ing time

Most console games do not have a PC version, so I wouldn't call it relevant either way. I haven't got a single piece of console since SNES days, and the region locks they put into place for most modern day console pretty much prevents me from ever seriously considering to buy one. I live in Taiwan, but I only ever play games in English whereever possible (I am not used to reading chinese, despite being born a Taiwanese, and I despise the Chinese voice dubbers), which, thanks to all of the region locks, I do not have proper access to. So my only gaming platform is PC. Not much of a loss because the genres I play are mostly available on the PC only (ever tried playing RTS on a console? I'd rather shoot myself than trying to do it again)

88% into Bowl, should be about 90% today, and pincer by next week About f'ing time too... Edit: Just out of curiosity, what's everyone's Scroll and Story added together? Mine is 66 right now.

Why o why is Deathbrand armor light, yet it uses Ebony armor perk....

The beastiary does not have TokHaar-Jad, making me one sad panda, some of the models (most visible on TzTok-Jad) have their polygons separated from each other, and it's bit of an eye sore if you look close :P
-
You are not the only one

Either you haven't been paying attention to guard's rambling, or a mod removed that message for you, or you haven't been living in cities long enough :P

Just got this today, 72% into bowl also.

2007 - Old School RuneScape... You Vote! - [It's Here!]
chenw replied to Ambler's topic in Old School RuneScape
To me it'll just end up as a similar predictament as RSC back in the days... this is no different to the last time. People who played RSC wanted RSC back for nostalgia when RS2 was released (RS2 is basically the RS we all know today, barring EoC update and no resizeable screen), and it ended up being a bot playground and soon nobody cared. I do not see any difference in this case how it would end up. The most fond memories I have of RS is RS 2006, not 2007, and not many of it were actual updates (I was doing barrows very regularly, which by the time I started farming it, it was oldish content). I think RS pretty much started downhill in 2006 when Capes were released, there was practically nothing in 2007 that I remember being particularly nostalgic. In fact, I dont think it was ANY content that made me feel 2006 was nostalgic, I'd pay anything to get the people I knew back then back to RS and into contact, I met some of the greatest people I know on the net from there. Once again: I prefer the people from then coming back, not the game itself. Or rather, the game is pointless without the people that made it enjoyable in the first place. One last thing: I makes me really worried that they don't do full backups of games after every update, and their last complete backup goes back to 2007... -
For levels lower than 10, JoD with 1 Oxhead is better than oxhead, for level 10, they are equal except in speed, which JoD wins. So if speed still has an effect for you, then using 1 jod on that ship loaded with oxheads will be a better choice than just using 5 oxheads. Also, I would not ditch the double stats, because in the end, you will only probably go for trade goods, and they dont show up often, probably not even enough to keep all of your ships occupied, so you won't have the luxury of pick and choosing your trade good voyages (hell you might not even have a choice what zone it comes in...)

Happy Runedate 4000!
-
Makes me wonder if I should ever use the said spices...
-
I have been only doing a handful of voyages everyday since day 1 of port (sometimes as low as 5 voyages), haven't got 4th ship yet, but I am at just under 40% bowl. Scroll progress update: sent out a 75% yesterday (with a merchant snuck on board, don't ask...), if it succeeds, I am 6 scrolls short of having the right side completely lit up :P
-
Trio stories comes in a line as well, and only rewards resources at the end of that line. (I think the line is 2 stories long, maybe 3...) So no, you won't get any trade goods on the trio you just sent out

In which case the accuracy of the staff is the same in melee mode, but the damage will be 0 plus your strength level.
