"Its the End of RuneScape as we know it! and I feel Fine!"
Jagex don't actually take credit cards, they use Worldpay who process the transaction on their behalf, then every 30 days pay the remitence into Jagex's bank account. Worldpay are one of the biggest online payment handling agencys in the world so obviously their checking is not working correctly. Warcraft is an online game and if they can control their finances correctly with 9m paying members why can't jagex? I don't buy the credit card argument, it is very tightly locked down now and the checks worldpay/futurepay do are pretty tight, so if 25% of members are using bots that also use stolen credit cards I do not belive you. So i would say your comments are meritless Also if you were "so in" the banking sector as you state, you would also know that worldpay offer a ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã250 chargeback guarantee "The 'Customer Guarantee' is a transactional guarantee designed to protect subscribed customers against 'third party fraud' related Chargebacks, for example stolen credit cards. When Chargebacks arise as a result of third party fraud, WorldPay will deal with the issues related as part of this service."

Real World Trading gone... A new threat on the horizon?
Powerleveling won't happen in Runescape, what is the point, tell me what advantage you get now from being a high level, for starters it takes too long to get to a high level, and the rewards are so poor. Look at wow for a moment, to get to level 70 power leveled takes approx 20 days playtime, at level 70 the game is transformed and you can then go for the big items, do the big raids and instances, play in the best PVP battlegrounds. There is nothing for a level 126 to do, except say woot im lvl 126 and then carry on cutting logs or fishing. Pking, merchanting gave players the choice to play the game differently, I was a skiller really, nothing in RS never gave me the incentive to get a higher combat level so i left it at 104, I keep checking back to see if there is somthing new for me, but atlas nothing. Since I left RS in Jan, i have leveled 2 toons to 70 in wow, i have grinded REP for diffferent factions, played tons of PVP games and love the goals you can set. One thing in runescape I used to love was that feeling you got while you collected a clue scroll in the wildy, not knowing if someone was stalking you, and the feeling of relief when I got back to a major town with my loot, or sitting upstairs in a wildy castle with my son downstairs as bait luring people to come attack him then jump down to try and kill them but all that has gone overnight. Guys there are plenty of other games out there, and you will be surprised how much you will like them, give wow a try and keep RS on the back burner until they fix the issues that have caused all these problems. Good luck :)

Jagex's Extreme Measures: "Freedom is not Free"
Gerald Ratner wrote; "Above all, we're a games company. We don't want to spend all our time and energy fighting gold-sellers and bots, we want to get on with making the game," says Andrew. Despite having to make this change, 2007 has seen some awesome updates ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ Impetuous Impulses, dark bow, dragonfire shield, God Wars Dungeon, Clan Chat, Grand Exchange ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ but now we're able to focus more on new content, 2008 is shaping up to be our best year yet! We're not waiting long to kick it all off, either, with the release of the Summoning skill in January. And wait until you see some of the other things we've got planned ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ it's far too early to reveal anything, but we're very, very excited about them. " But Andrew, it's no good getting on with a game that no-one wants to play, i want to come back to RS but you are kicking your loyal fans in the nuts, Runescape was different, what made it different was the things you have just removed.

Real World Trading gone... A new threat on the horizon?
Buying accounts is a silly idea, there will never be much money in it because of one fundemental reason, the account is always owned by the person who created it. So if mr x sells his lvl 126 max account for ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã1000 at any time he could get that account back in about 5-10 mins, the creater always owns the account so the risk in buying an account is too high compared to buying gold.

Jagex approval ratings?
Jagex is a private company so there are no shareholders, it can in theory do what ever it wants, if you look at publicly owned games like Warcraft, they play test all the updates first to make sure there is no negitive impact and to avoid issues like we have just seen. I will continue to say it, Jagex is talking out its arse if it thinks RWT was going to kill Runescape, there is other reasons behind this of which we are not being informed. If Blizzard can manage RWT then so can Jagex. I read the diary that Jagex has posted about the reasons, and the lame comments by the Mod's about how bad RWT is getting etc etc, none of it really made any sense, all it says is "we are too lazy to keep fighting this battle and want a quick fix"

What would happen if Jagex *really* let the game go?
I am going to give a prediction here, i noticed a trainee moderator on TIP say Jagex must be wanting people to play a new game. This is all about that, I think once Jagex states they are releasing a new game people are going to want to sell all their stuff ASAP, how many people still played RSC after they released RS2, I imagine they know what the takeup of new game VS continue to play is and have to make some way to stop people selling there stuff for real world money. Jagex has somthing up it's sleeve and it's going to be big, summoning is just a smoke screen, compare summoning to removing PKING/D'arena/drop partys it doesn't make sense. If Jagex released a new game but never curbed GOLD selling then everyone would sell all their RS gold and items and profit from Jagex, they have thought of this "upfront" and put measures in place to stop "the few" rich players in RS making tons of cash in the short term. Expect a new game in the next few weeks.

What would happen if Jagex *really* let the game go?
The same as what's happened for the last 5 years, nothing..... All MMORPGs have RWT, all games have bots, all games gold sellers. Jagex will kill the game before they let gold sellers etc get away with making real money for virtual items. This is where Jagex are making a HUGE mistake, Warcraft is the biggest game in the world, it has gold sellers it has bots, it has spammers, but the game won't change because of it, they bring in some small updates to make it a little harder but thats it. Runescape is changing and I know this update will kill the game. Cheating is going to happen, just ban a few thousand every few months, keep the masses happy and move along but don't change the fundemental part of the game just because a few people buy RS gold. If 9 million wow players can live with it, I am sure a few thousand RS players can. If the economy was being effected and items were costing next to nothing then we might have a problem, but nothing was going wrong with Runescape apart from a few hundred people buying gold, and Jegex didn't like others making money from their game, so this is what happens.. :(

My nearly 100% correct theory. WE set summon prices =D
You are very much correct, Jagex wants to remove RWT, so they will do everything they can to do it. So far they have removed Dual Arena, tried to make trading accountable, sorted out party pete, removed all stuff from Ebay, next stop is the Wildy, gravestones are the start of a WOW based, return to body and keep all items agenda. I bet by New Year the only way you will lose items is from dieing to monsters/bosses and then they will realise people will RWT using KQ etc so they will remove that part too.

Goodbye, my final thoughts on Jagex, RS and where its headed
The reason it's going to the dogs is Jagex is making the game more kid friendly, I played for nearly 2 years but quit in Jan, i still login to TIP though as I like to see what goes on. I seen the grand exchange and thought wow I can shift all my crap so I logged in, subscribed and put all my stuff up for sale, haha none of it sold, so i tried for 3 days in a row, still nothing sold, so i just canceled my sub and will go back to my other game :) Scammers will always be in runescape, people will always buy and sell gold, if Jagex thinks by capping everything it will get better, they are very wrong, all it does is make us older players quit and we get replaced by kids and scammers. I still like Runescape, the idea is great but its just worn out now, it feels like a 1980's ford escort, it still runs but every time you drive it somthing goes wrong. Move with the times Jagex, a new mod comes out for WOW next year, and you know it's going to be a huge event, bring some fun into Runescape, do anything but make it worth playing.

The New Year Update
Well i stopped playing RS in jan and now play WOW so I am thinking they need to bring the people in from WOW back to RS. I can see them increasing the size of the screen as being a big update but can Java cope with that? I would say a new version will be released which is client side and uses an exsiting 3d engine like Warcraft, I love runescape but time has come for it to be ramped up, java was fine a few years ago so "the masses" could play the game on any pc, but the cost of pc's now are so cheap that a pure java game is just medieval < notice the pun :) Imagine a warcraft style runescape, it would be perfect and would move Jagex up a gear and allow them to start making mega bucks, i would imagine they have lost a massive number of people in the last year, I have stopped paying for 5 accounts and know of 3 others who now play WOW too. We can only hope, but i still visit tip.it every few days to see whats going on, and am just waiting for that big magnet to pull me back into runescape. Oh and just to say, in runescape i played for over a year and as you can see my level was "ok". In warcraft i already have a lvl 70 and am enjoying raiding and all the end game stuff, Runescape lost its apeal once I reached a high lvl, I cannot thing of anything else i need to do in it, where as in wow the game is just starting now, and when i get bored i just create a new character.

23 October 2007 - Hallowe'en Event - For ALL
As I play Runescape and WOW can I just say how poor this is for a halloween event, I will explain.. In wow you get about 100+ different items, for all levels, and they concentrated on level 70's by giving you the headless horseman to kill, which takes 5 people to kill. Here are some of the drops I have got so far... 18 slot bag in the shape of a pumpkin Epic helm with echo laugh as emote - lvl 70 Epic Rings 5 different types 5 types of brooms for all levels Wands that turn people into different costumes ie skeleton A level 11 headless guy that flys into town every 4 hours and sets fire to it, you have to put out the fires then you kill him and smash his head he drops loads of cool stuff Pumpkin heads you can throw onto other people for fun Special pets that follow you round Inn keepers who you go round and trick or treat, she/he gives you a good item or turns you into a frog or other wierd thing This is just a small selection of stuff, So come on Jagez, sort it out....

New "hunter bow" scam?
It is so sad to see scamming still going on in RS, I quit in Jan after exactly 1 yr of playing, and started playing a different game, I have never seen a scam in the new game, RS needs Auction Houses, why do they still not have a proper method to sell items after being out for so long. If they made a MOD like Auctionner for wow then when you put your mouse over the item it tells you the rough value, also items are coloured to show the value, these are simple no brainer ideas that will stop scamming overnight, and make the game soo much better it might make some of us quiters come back. The least they could do is use colour coding.

Question: Least-Admirable Skill Cape
How would you know? your not even half way too 99 cooking or fletching....

All discussion here: Jan 2, 2006 - Rule 7 and Rule 9 Updated
The reason people rely on SS so much is due to it turning runescape into a game rather then just a browser, what Jagex and the rest of you haters don't realise is swiftswitch is part of runescape for 1000's of players, without swiftswitch Runescape just becomes a browser based game with little to keep you coming back. When I click my swiftswitch icon on the desktop it's as if I am playing a proper game, typing http://www.runescape.com into a browser just does not feel right, the notepad alone in SS is worth its weight in gold and the stat lookup part is invaluable, alot of people in RS lookup peoples stats as they see them, I know I do, and this is very importent as it gives you somthing else to do which is "nosey" and intriguing. I applaud Jagex for reversing the desision at least untill they can offer an alternative and when they do offer somthing we will all be happy and they won't have a mutiny on their hands...... :) I have also read lots of comments from mods on this thread, and to be honest you are no better then most of the whiners and moaners, get off your high horses and show some respect to the majority instead of trying to sit on the moral high ground..

Question: Least-Admirable Skill Cape
I respect all 99's, I have just got my 99 in cooking and OMG it was a nightmare, it took me roughly 2 weeks of 10hrs a day to get from 85 to 99 and I love it when people say its easy, the only people who think 99 cooking/fletching are easy are the people who have not done it. Every single person who has ever said to me "oh 99 cooking that's easy init" had between 50-70 cooking. It's not hard its just very boring, very time consuming, and pretty expensive...

Player Mods.
If you want to post examples at least make them relevant. That doesn't make any sense whatsoever, quit while your ahead.

Player Mods.
Try and understand player MODs are not Police, Police have years of training and most are upstanding role models of society, player mods are kids who have pressed the report button in a online game more times then normal players or they have posted more times on the runescape forums then others. It maybe your responsibility to read the rules, but its the pmods responsibility to explain them as best they can, that is thier job as far as I can see, and if they players fail to abide by the rules they have a quicker route to getting the player banned etc..

Are female players more likely to be skillers?
Women players tend to be bored housewives who have lots of time on their hands while hubby is at work, so runescape is their little escape from reality, most I chat to are skillers in one way or another, they have the patients to sit there and fish or chop trees where as most men are too gung h0 and just wanna kill stuff (this is just my observations my gf would kill me if she seen this post :) oh and shes currently fletching 100k willows )

Player Mods.
clearly you lack common sense. Just because I dislike people who think they're better than everyone else doesn't mean I wish destruction and turmoil. That's like saying I either support the war on terrorism, or im a terrorist. I know a few p mods, who I wont name, who are just scum. They've scammed, lied, used programs, etc. Half of them try to pk, and flame you, but if you flame back, UH OH, temp mute! I was banned for a week one time because I killed a player mod, and when he flammed me, I flammed back. Yeah, that's fair. There are good ones, but I dont see the point of giving players power. Half them abuse it. Player moderators that abuse their powers get their status removed and are no longer player moderators. Which brings me back to my previous statement. You either support scammers and cheaters, or you support Player Moderators. There is no middle ground. If you hate player moderators YOU are a bad person. Your Logic is so flawed I won't even go into telling you why....

Player Mods.
I did say earlier that Jagex have banned/black marked people for saying certain words "noob" etc. The problem I see is, Jagex does not set out what is acceptable and what is not, someone was given a temp weeks ban for saying "dang" recently, The whole logic behind player MOD's is on reporting people, the better you are at reporting people the more chance you have of becoming a PMOD, now this is dangerous ground as is now being shown all over the forums, as people are getting banned/repromanded for silly things that most people accept as every day chit chat. Even the JMODs do not know what is acceptable and what is not so how the hell is a 13 yr old kid who can click an abuse button every time he see's a suspect word. The game is 12+ according to Jagex, which is not even a ESRB clasification, I would say it falls between E10+ and TEEN which both can contain mild language, I dont want to see people running around shouting sexual swearwords out but I do not mind people swearing when they do somthing wrong, as long as the words are not directed at someone personally. Jagex needs to get the game properly classified so everyone knows the limits, and they can also give the customer service team at Jagex HQ some proper on training on what is acceptable and what is not.

name changes in future
The best way would be like Half-Life games, you all have an ID which is what is linked with your character, when you change you name that name will change but your ID will always stay the same. As to scammers and reporting this would need to be changed so if someone needs to be reported you just right click on there character and choose report, choose offence then send, this will send Jagex the name they are using but the backend will link that name to that RuneID. Messenger programs and Steam ID's have worked like this for years so why can't runescape? If your friends are stupid enough to change there name every day then that's their lookout, get some new firends :)

A fresh start-the Runescape Ladder
They could run a version alongside runescape, like an arcade version ,where you lvl quick like 6 x the xp per action Runescape Classic Runscape 2 Runescape Arcade :)
