Experiences lie, math does not; we are subject to a lot of sampling biases For example, my experiences told me that magic defense affected Korasi sword strength. It does not. To be completely fair, like i mentioned previously - GS have SOME use - maybe like one (TD's if you're too slow at switching whip to be effective). But for all intents and purposes it is effectively never #1 at anything else. It makes sense to think of it as basically useless. Uhm what? This mindset is similar to what the old greek-mathematicans had: "if my experiences don't match the perfect mathematics, my experiences are wrong".. Luckily we've grown out of that mindset, and now we think "if my experiences don't match the perfect mathematics, the perfect mathematics forget to include a certain variable". Experience is always more important than mathematics: mathematical rules are used verify & fine tune the ideas you've gained by doing experiments! Runescape is a "perfect physics world,"(with magic) though. Rhetorical arguments that go down to these levels are just pointless really. The plain and simple fact is that no godsword is ever "useless." You might (possibly) be able to accurately say that after certain levels and items are obtained, then godswords are never the most efficient option, but I seriously doubt that. Also, examples such as tds where the level of attention required can SIGNIFICANTLY affect performance cannot be waived off in that manner reasonably. For example, I know that using a steel titan down there is better AT FULL ATTENTION, but I have tv to be watching, etc. So a unicorn is now the best, yet no statistics/attributes have changed. And just to be utterly annoying, I could "use" a godsword to slay lvl 2 men if I felt like it. Therefore they have at least one "use," and based on empirical evidence are not "useless."

No, I didn't quote the Ancient to avoid excessive pyramidding, and based on the past responses it seemed like what I was referring to could be obvious enough without being quoted.

What they said. I think I'm somewhere around level 50 dung(also f2p, but that is temporary). If you're saying that it is possible(scratch that *practicle*) for ME, to get any chaotic weapon within the next 10 waking hours, then I will respectfully retract my last statement, but considering that I personally have spent well over 10 hours on this skill(granted during the first week or so), and am pretty sure that I don't even have half of the experience required to use any chaotic weapon makes me seriously suspect of that claim. Granted, you could say that getting the 20m(or whatever BGS's are worth now) to get a godsword starting from nothing is also daunting, but I am willing to bet that most of the people with 80 dung have well over 20m(or whatever) in their accounts. Also, if you are willing to take payment for that 500m wager in the form of red masks, that would be fantastic

Is that a joke or willful ignorance to prove your point?

What can't you wait to do in the new Golden Age of Runescape?
I'm looking forward to selling the stash of horribly crashing low rares that I bought before quitting.

Hm...this seems interesting enough to be reposted higher up on the new page...

Nice mentality there. Hooray capitalism! With all the strength boosting crap that exists, just using an ancient staff as a melee weapon would still be probably as viable if not moreso than maging. Back when it was all about godswords, punching goblins/imps were the fastest ways to get KC.

Frozen door (New)
Realistically, I don't think these new items will make older stuff completely obsolete, at least not initially. Just because something is better doesn't automatically make older stuff obsolete, if the new better item's cost is too prohibitive for many people. And since Jagex is touting this boss as the toughest yet (outside of DG), these new items will probably be quite pricey for a while. I just can't imagine them making new spirit shield esque items though...and if they are comparable to current GWD items in the harvesting rate I'm sure they'd be well under 100m(hiltish items) or 50m(armorish items) within a few months....That is assuming that they make hiltish and armorish items, though. Well, as I said in the other topic, making them the same rarity as the other GWD items will still keep the prices well above 100m... Since this boss is guaranteed to be several times more difficult to kill than any of the other GWD bosses. Harder boss that takes longer to kill = rarer items, even if the actual drop rate is the same as other monsters' drops. Well I just said harvesting rate to include any difficulty/killtime/droprate variables in as few words as possible. What I'm most interested in is whether any of this will actually be released this month. That seems like a lot of content to be absorbed in the next 30 days, also how long between when these items are released(as whatever price Jagex suggests will be ignored of course) and when free trade is undiscontinued.

I agree, but if you have them go for it, and everyone should have 96 summoning, and you will get 95 herblore eventually anyway. I'd love to have 96 summoning, but that requires a good bit of money that I don't have. I'd love to be able to get money by MHing with a pro group like OTG, but seeing as I am only 92 herblore and 92 summoning, they'd auto-decline me, even though I have the best gear (except divine SS) and have overloads. See the quandary? Shouldn't it be 94 herb with greenman's m, not even considering that the stew trick(which I'm amazed ahsn't been fixed by now) could put it at 90...or 92 for sanity's sake? Just a thought...

If I was one of the people who was getting taunted about the utter impossibilty of Zaros being involved, I would be tossing around a lot mroe anner nanners and boo boos right about now, but I guess that's just me. Also, everything described in the BTS sounds like it is completely better than what it could potentiall replace and would make the current things obsolete. -More specifically, obsolete xbows/bolts -Obsolete defensive armor Or it could not do that at all...but it could.

3rd Age/Spirit shields/Phats Discussion
No, it's not how it was manipulated before the GE, but since the GE has come out price manipulation has become the only way many people know how to make money. Not to mention the people who run those clans are going to find a way to continue leading mindless hoards of peons in pursuit of easy GP. I can already think of a few ways to do it using the GE system I think Jagex could use, but until we see what the real system is we can never really know if manipulation will work. This is what I was saying. I know that is not how price manipulation worked before the GE, but it's one plausible approach as to how it will work AFTER free trade returns. People definately DID do exactly what you described before the GE in fally w2. Granted they could only maintain it for a couple hours or so, because those groups would only be 4-6 people, but even after they left, people who were around while the prices were inflated and haven't sold their stuff yet will continue with that price and it usually took a few hours for things to normalize again. That is with whips at least which were the only things that I could afford to buy multiples of then... People don't wear hats that say "merchant," and the only way for someone to know by name is for them to have been trading similar items to that person for a long time, which would most likely keep them from being tricked anyway.

But Jagex CAN make up lore to support new content, I don't think discounting anything is very wise really.

3rd Age/Spirit shields/Phats Discussion
I hope they'll make Coinshare-splits based on the highest bid in the GE at that specific time. for example, player A has an offer for a set of D claws for 30m, then group B with 3 players will get splits of 30/3 = 10m each when killing a demon that carries a set of claws. However, if player A is offering 33m, then the same group would receive splits of 33/3 = 11m instead. Would be a doable solution, IMO. *sells claws for 30m in ge* *is on four hour buying/selling limit* *puts in offer for buying claws at 200M* Gl all people who CS claws. Too easily manipulated. You would lose 200m, trade completed. thank you come again. he would be on the 4 hour limit, so no he wouldn't. I agree it would be too easily manipulated. Then they should change how GE handles four hour limit. but all together i think the idea of putting it in the GE for highest bid but giving the player its money right away is flawed. I think my other idea is better. [hide] It wouldn't matter if the price caps were removed from the GE. The recommended price might be under but the market would still be able to function at a much more fluid rate. This is because the GE medium price would no need to match the street price for people to buy and sell at street price. I meant for such activities as Coinshare boss killing. If an item is worth 50 million, but the "medium" price is 35 million. I don't imagine gaps of that amount would be too common at all, but if something like that were to happen, would the players just have to cut it as a 15 million gold loss? Because I'm sure a lot of players would prefer to just coinshare as opposed to getting the drop, selling it, and then splitting it amongst themselves. I am sure they are looking at that. I can think of all kinds of solutions, one of them being like a lent item you must sell before (X time) runs out, if time runs out it is sold for medium to the GE. That way you get a chance trying to sell the item yourself, the item can then be tried to sell on the GE for your price (it wont go lower then [x money] under med so people cant be a D and sell for 1gp) Dunno how to pick the person that gets the privilege of selling the item, maybe the leader? [/hide] Like anyone (anyone vaguely similar to me that is) will care about the loss. Not too many care about the constant 5% losses now, and I seriously doubt that they would care about some intangible price difference between whatever the ge price and generally accepted price is. Don't forget that even the existence of this problem(barring new items) is based on the assumption that Jagex will fail miserably with their median prices(which is completely possible and not altogether unlikely), but that is still an assumption, and I feel like any in depth debate regarding an unconfirmed assumption is....useless. Also, since when does selling affect your buying limit? Or were you just saying that you sold the claws and were already limited because you had bought 10 claws? granted I have not played in a while, but I don't remmeber that. EDIT: Also, that lent item idea would be nice as it would possibly reduce the risk of carrying coins and decrease the number of times that losers get excited and ditch, and I doubt that Jagex would allow one player to potentially lose millions for others by them dying...so I doubt that an idea like that in either of those two forms at least would be implemented.

certainly not(people have to understand that street price means little in terms of real value). So...are elysians not-crashing or are disks crashing? Or...both?

Just because you think a price is stupid, that does not mean that someone else is not willing to pay it(be it possible or not). and if someone is willing to pay your price, then the price is right. RIP Bob Barker.

You can't vote 'no'. Yes, but if you read it, they will count all the people who didn't vote as a "No", which is not good at all...I'm scared You do realize anyone can put anyone's account name down and click the vote button? To remove an uncertanty from the outcome.

One aspect yet unconsidered...
You know .. not everyone who doesn't want to experience this [cabbage] again is a "post-trade update product" There are so many interesting forms of descrimination in runescape. I seriously doubt that the Corp entrance will be left as is though, that update was not created with human pkers in mind.

Ge will still exist and it still will be the standard way to buy generally traded items like logs, herbs, ores, and bones. If there is a herb update and the demand for herbs increases people will street buy until the ge matches, and then go back to using the ge. Its not a hard concept, the items that would be affected would be things like divine shields of party hats which pretty much are street traded anyways now. Ge and free trade CAN coexist just fine, I dont understand why people dont understand this Well the GE is mroe than just a convenience store for some, it is also very useful for lazy people to exploit for a bit of extra free coins, and do YOU want to be the one to tell those poor starving lazy epople that they won't be able to afford Christmas ham because you were too greedy to allow them to continue exploiting the ge? Honestly I don't know what I'm doing on here anymore it's almost 6am and I don't even play this game...

One aspect yet unconsidered...
They made it so other people could not see your drops from monster-caused deaths a good while before they ended free trade didn't they? Bit fuzzy on that...but I don't see why they would also undo that change. I'd assume that the grave mechanic would remain as is, there are no graves in pvp currently right?

That is the most blatantly fake fake that I've ever seen faked. I really wish that these fakers would take some faking time to make some good fakes so we could have some faking distractions to keep us interested for fake's sake. (Yes, I know that that was hilarious)
