Halo Discussion thread
I haven't really play any real Halo in a few weeks, all I've really played is Forge, Rocket Race, and then a few of the head-to-head games. Anyone wanna play some right now? Just add and invite me to a game.

Like I said before, just leave me up there as a participant. If I can't make an event I will tell you. That being said, this weekend may not be all that good for me, at best I think I will be making the COD4 event. Any chance of bumping up the dates a day or two?

What do YOU think is the best console/platform?
Makes a lot of sense - the less parts there are, the less problems you will have - but it would still be nice to hae the processing power of a computer in my Xbox 360. Or ateast, Microsoft could release a sevice that upgrades your Xbox, and game companies simply include expansions in terms of performance of graphics that are only activated if you have said upgrades installed. I just don't like the idea that companies can easily make games whose hardware requirements far surpass those of my console, and that there is no way to catch up save for buying a newer console.

what is the best vidio game? (poll)
I put it for graphics just because I love the graphics style. Also, almost every N64 game I've played, with the exceptions of Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie, and SSB, in the past year, I did not like because of graphics. The gameplay was good, but I just couldn't stand the graphics when I'm used to the "next-generation" graphics of the Xbox 360. Besides, this is personal preference, if you can't understand why I rate something the way I do, I don't think I will be able to explain it better than this on an internet forum.

Agreed, and now I feel that the only thing seperating consoles and the PC is just the fact that there are different GUI's, different OS's, and consoles are on a TV, where you play on a couch. What I would like to see for a computer is a download (I am doubting companies will provide for free) from the console companies that allow you to have the interface of the console, the ability for the controllers to function with a PC, and licensing for the computer to play the games. The Xbox 360 to me will be the first to do this, mainly because of MS, and also all that needs to be done is the GUI release. Of course, this won't happen because of money, and I for one do not want to be paying $200-$300 just for a program that allows me to play games on a platform I (Well, my dad really) payed upwards of $600 for, and then $60-$80 for each game. Basically, I really think that integrating the feel of a console with the ever-increasing power of a computer, along with the option to easily upgrade the console. The biggest roadblock to this, like I mentioned before, is the fact that consoles bring in billions of dollars of revenue for gaming companies, along with providing a greater audience for game publishers.

Votes so far have been counted. Note that it makes it a lot easier on me if you just state outright what you're voting for, Not just quote someone  Also, I was hesitant about putting PC up there, simply because I knew it would blow everything else out of the water. Of course though, I had to recognize its great contribution to gaming, and know it would be voted for anyways. Thank you to all those that hae voted so far, and anyone else who will :

Search came up empty, so here it goes... What is the best console or platform? I do not just mean for games, but overall, the best console or platform. Is it a computer? The Xbox 360? How about going a bit retro with the Dreamcast? We will see what TIF Video Games & Consoles will say. Here is a basic list to give you a memory jolt. Console (Total 11/13 votes): [*:1pcttt6i]Atari 2600 - 0 [*:1pcttt6i]Sega Genesis/Mega Drive - 0 [*:1pcttt6i]Sega Dreamcast - 0 [*:1pcttt6i]Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) - 0 [*:1pcttt6i]Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) - 1 [*:1pcttt6i]Nintendo 64 (N64) - 1 [*:1pcttt6i]Nintendo Game Cube - 0 [*:1pcttt6i]Nintendo Wii - 0 [*:1pcttt6i]Sony Playstation - 0 [*:1pcttt6i]Sony Playstation 2 (PS2) - 2 [*:1pcttt6i]Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) - 0 [*:1pcttt6i]Microsoft Xbox - 0 [*:1pcttt6i]Microsoft Xbox 360 - 1 [*:1pcttt6i]And of course, the mighty computer (Not really a console, but close enough) - 6 Handheld/Portable (Total 2/13 votes): [*:1pcttt6i]Nintendo Gameboy/Gameboy colour - 1 [*:1pcttt6i]Nintendo Gameboy Advanced - 0 [*:1pcttt6i]Nintendo DS - 0 [*:1pcttt6i]Playstation Portable (PSP) - 1 TWO DIFFERENT CATEGORIES DOES NOT MEAN TWO DIFFERENT VOTES. I Personally am going to have to go with the Nintendo 64. There are just so many games from there that I love (The Legend of Zelda series, Banjo-Kazooie, Mario series, Golden Eye, to name a few), not to mention the nostalgia I get when playing it. Great childhood memories+great games = favourite console. The computer comes in at second for me, only because I see it as more of a tool for communication rather than gaming.

what is the best vidio game? (poll)
I put it in there only for graphics because I have not played it fully. I have played about a fifth of it at most I believe. Unfortunately I cannot find it anywhere, and I do not like shopping online. Well, I know a few friends who I can buy it off of, but I meant it literally when I said I could not find it anywhere, me and a friend spent a good half hour looking for it before I decided to get it off someone else. I'm not even sure if I've played a fifth of the game, depends how far into the game the Groudon dungeon is. Basically, I BADLY want to play it more, but me playing depends on the availability for it from friends and EB games. Trust me, I wish I could put it up there for more than storyline, but I can't do that until I've played the full game through. Also note that I didn't put anything else for story ;)

I can't decide. COD4 for an FPS Banjo-Kazooie series for nostalgia Ocarina of Time for graphics (At time of release) Portal for general fun Golden Eye for gameplay Tetris for addictiveness and simplicity Basically, there are too many ways to measure a game, making it near impossible for me to choose the best game, however I will just default to my favourite, the Banjo-Kazooie series. I cannot wait for Nuts & Bolts to come out. I think I will be having a lot of fun with the massive customization of the vehicles. Unfortunately it still has a few months until release. I never did get why companies don't release games for the summer. I run out of original playing by the start of the summer. So my vote goes to Banjo-Kazooie. Nintendo 64 was THE best system released, to date. I cannot think of anything with better games, game play, and just general fun.

~Whats Your 360 Gamer Tag?~
If you can't see, I play COD4, Halo 3, GH2/3, Rock Band, Mass Effect, and Crackdown. If my Gears of War disc wasn't scratched, I would be playing that too, but since it is, Anyways, I have a mic, and am willing to help out with any campaign achievements you need for Halo, to just play some campaign for the hell of it, or play some MM (Note that I'd rather play social than ranked, and custom to MM). I'm basically going to add everyone on this thread that plays Halo, because I prefer that for playing online with friends. COD4 is more serious game play than Halo 3, which I like, but not for playing with friends online.

Sign me up for anything unless I say not to. Also, I say we try racing in Halo 3 sometime, I've always wanted to try it. Then there's also Urban Freeflow, which is very fun and challenging. There is so much that we could do... I'm not all that interested in COD4, it's more of a straight forward FPS, whereas Halo has so much you can do other than basic FPS, like Cops and Robbers, racing, ZOMBIES, level design/modern art, machinima, etc. Basically, Halo is the best for social stuff IMO, just because of the variety it offers, along with the creative community to go with it. The COD4 nights should be focused more around hardcore gaming, the Halo nights more for just a cool down from those. If we do get enough people for full teams, I think we should be doing custom games instead of MM in Halo, more fun because some maps are just insane. Honestly, there are people who are true artists with Forge. Also, if anyone wants to get some campaign achievements done for Halo 3, I'm almost always willing to play it, I love the campaign. Call of Duty: World at War
I personally don't see how you can make a WW2 FPS as good as a modren-time FPS, simply because we would find the weapons boring. What this really needs is a balance between strategy and ease of play, the strategy for the hardcore players, ease for the casual players. COD4 pulls off this balance very well, although that is not to say that it is without faults. I think that a WW2 version of COD4 will inolve much more strategy than the current one, because you'd have less ammo, less accurate, less powerful, and overall crappier weapons. At the same time, if you want to get into realism, the survival of these wounds would be less because of the medical care that would be available. I really just think that COD5 will not be as good as COD4 because of the concept.

Drawball - New Recruits Needed!
I've pretty much just realized that we should prioritize what is fixed, i.e. if it can be seen from 0%, it gets fixed ASAP. Then if there is nothing all too visible from 0%, we move to whatever can be seen from 33%, and so on. Like someone mentioned before, if your IP resets too often, just work on the random scribbles, or maybe try and just keep the structure of the TIPS letter. For instance, make sure there is a visible outline for the black and white, and make them straight (See the main post for how to draw straight lines) Just a question, but I'm not sure if we should try and recruit people from the Runescape sections of the forum. I have seen quite a few users there that I wouldn't put it too far past them to vandalize the logo :|

Spread FireFox Download Day 2008! Opinions? Likes?
Before I actually downloaded Firefox onto this computer (Had it on an older computer, which was slower by a long shot), I had never thought much about it. I would constantly get errors about how the connection to the server or something similar was lost. Now, however, I am loving it. I have only gotten one of these errors with Firefox 3, and StumbleUpon is possibly the best add-on, and the best way to kill some time. Before, at best, I would say Firefox = IE Now, Firefox >IE by far.

What Are You Doing Now, Lifewise.
Lesee. Past, I just finished Grade 9, Semester 2 exams (For anyone wanting an equivalent, I was born in '93=15 years old), and damn did that English exam require a lot of writing, or atelast more than I'm used to for a test/exam (3 pages double-sided). Near-future, I'm gearing into summer mode, AKA nothing but slowly turning nocturnal until my parents get mad at me, at which point the cycle restarts, playing rugby for a league, hopefully working for my dad's friend (Manual labour ftw, by the way), getting in the 40 hours of community service I need to graduate in Grade 12. If I have too much spare time on my hands, I think I'll just do some more volunteering to fill the gaps, could never hurt my job applications : Sometime after the summer I'd like to convince my parents to let me buy myself a computer (Not laptop, I hate the keyboards on these things, and how hippocritical of me, I am on laptop right now). I'm still considering whether having a computer would be worth my investment, because I've found that even our families crappy computer is fine by me, and there are 2 computers + 1 laptop available for me to use, with the crappy computer often unoccupied for clear reasons. Post-summer, it's back to school, and I already know what courses I will have, who my teacher will be for two of them, and generally how my year will go. I'm not sure if this is good or bad; at times I am forced to take certain courses because I am in a preperation programme for the International Baccalaureate. I'm fine with it for now, because it isn't until Grade 11 & 12 where my choices really open up. I do not plan on continuing on to the IB, although now that I think about it, I wouldn't be all that against it. What will really change my mind is whether the IB diploma is actually recognized by universities as a higher-level diploma, and that continuing with the programme will actually prove to be a benefit instead of just me trying to find a challenge (I slept through math and got a 93 for crying out loud, I easily could have brought it up to 97/98 if I bothered with it, and keep in mind that this programme is meant to be challenging, though I disagree). The only thing that is keeping me in for Grade 10 is that the classes move at a much faster pace than regular academic courses, so I know that if I drop it, I will be even more bored. Incase you're wondering, my courses will be: Civics/Careers (Mandatory for an Ontario Diploma) Grade 10 Math (IB level, so it will contain units from higher grades) Grade 10 Science Grade 10 French Economics Grade 11 Math (Yes, Math both semesters) Grade 10 English Grade 10 Canadian History I am tempted to call this an easy year, but I don't know what English and History will be like. By the way, I was given no choice, other than a vote involving the two classes between, I think it was Higher Level, Economics and History. We did have an elective this year, but Economics was bumped up so that would could have a free period/elective in Grade 12. Distant-future, I'm hoping to get into the University of Waterloo, for pretty much any engineering course. Obviously I want to become an engineer, and the specific field I am not all too picky about, although electrical/chemical would be nice. Other than this, I'm basically going to live life by the moment, just trying to enjoy myself as much as possible. What good is life if you don't live it up?

Wendy's is in denial
[hide=The Average Canadian Asking for Extra Bacon on the Baconator][/hide] So us Canadians are cannibals then? I mean, I like my bacon and all, but last time I checked, those 4 strips I just ate aren't part of my cousin

Wendy's is in denial
To me, those patties look like they are smaller than regular size. Either way, that is a LOT of beef(I hope) right there. At this moment, a cow is walking around with half a body. Or, it would walk if it could. Off-Topic (Since this IS the OFFTOPIC forum, shouldn't completely offtopic posts be allowed?): @Runescapeloser22 We need to play something on Live once in a while. I've had you added for a few months I think and still haven't played with you in anything.

What ticks you off most in a video game?
Pretty much any game that doesn't support multiplayer, so basically all RPG's. I mean, I like campaign modes and all, but I want to get my full $60-80 of money's worth. Sacraficing any aspect of a game just to reach a deadline. I think it's a bit obvious that game deadlines are quite flexible, unless of course you change it last second. Graphics over gameplay pisses me off so much. Shiny objects may entertain that monkey over there, but I'll stare for about a second before I see that enemy whose brains im supposed to blow out. RTS on a console. I mean really, who even plays them? An RTS on a computer is aweosme, but then minute you transfer that over to a console you ruin. Releasing a game for a console but not designing it specifically for any console/the console it's released on. Putting something in as a major game aspect, but making it extremely annoying to use (Driving in Mass Effect, anyone?) Trying to make a cartoon into high-def 3D. This is what I am most worried about for Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. Repetitive gameplay/controls, like those in Assassin's Creed. It is an awesome game for the first few hours before you get bored with the controls. Companies not bothering to follow a game up with patches to fix any bugs. Or a company releasing a patch that gratly affects the game in a major way (Bungie with the melee fix for Halo 3 is the exception to this).

I'm in for both. I say, if we get enough people, we put together some teams for Grifball. If we can't get enough people, we could always fill in the rest with friends. But I really do say that we go for getting full teams for both.

The removal of Random Event...Clothing?
That is a very good idea. Why not have two, one for previous events, and one for current events. For the previous events, you would have a retirement home, like you suggested. For the current events, a hotel where they stay. You could place the event characters in a setting similar to what their events involve (Sandwich lady runs a sandwich shop, mime is on stage, performing, Evil Bob [i think that's his name] is downstairs, and once you go down, you get teleported to the ScapeRune prison). I think that could work very well.

What is the first thing you did as a legal adult?
Sex probably wouldn''t be the first thing I'd do, since the age limit for that is 16 (If there is a max. three year difference in age, it is 12). I probably wouldn't do anything, maybe go partying or something. I've pretty much decided that while I am pro-marijuana, I will not use it, or atleast use it only in select social situations, and I'm thinking birthdays are those situations. So maybe I'll light one up, maybe not. I have a feeling booze will be involved, despite drinking age being 19. I do know what I might be doing for graduation: roadtrip to Alberta for some legal drinking. This has given me a lot to think, most not pretaining to turning 18. I don't really think I will do anything special for 18, will probably do more next year for 16th than for 18th. What is so good about turning 18 in America anyways?
