Inmate claims he's to fat to put to death.
To all the people against the death penalty: I don't care if it makes up for the crime, to me the best use that comes out of the death penalty is lessening the population that is dependent on the government. Think about it. If you're in jail, you are fed, clothed, bathed and sheltered, with all of the money coming out of the governments pocket. I really don't see why we have to use "lethal injection". You know what else is lethal? An injection of lead. Honestly, I say that we should let the inmate choose their death, so long as it costs less than $100-200, and make any crime where the intentional result was death (Impaired driving accidents do not cause intentional death) punishable by death. You can't say that death is the easy way out of punishment, but can you not think of anything worse than death? Jail could only be considered worse if you tortured the inmates, but that would be much too costly and "inhumane". Another point. Nothing is too inhumane for someone who took another's life. Your rights as a human should be stripped the minute you are proven to have committed murder. Side-note: I'm just looking at the way the legal system works, and (Having no intricate knowledge of the legal system) could I not commit a crime, but then claim that I am not bound by any laws, since I did not agree to them? I signed no contract, I never even verbally said that I would follow the law. Therefore, by the law itself, I am not obligated to follow the law. The government could probably just turn around and tell anyone/thing that I am not to be serviced or provided for, my land confiscated, but then that would be interfering with my rights as a human. I'm not a hypocrite for it either. I may not follow the alw, but that does not prevent me from enforcing the law on others. This is something that I have been wondering about for a while.

Most over-rated band ever?
I couldn't even tell you, because I don't watch MTV/Much Music anymore. If we are ignoring contributions to the music industry, I think it's safe to say that every pioneer in a music genre is overrated. Why? Because they will be average. They wouldn't have anything of a similar sound to compare themselves to, which means that they are basically just making it up as the go along. That is why they can be considered good. They aren't good musically, they just helped form music as we know it today. Rap and rock (Rock being just about anything anyone on these forums like) both hate each other, so neither are overrated or underrated, because for every person I know that likes one, another hates the other. And believe it or not, I would say that Buckethead is an incredibly underrated artist. Most people will only listen to Jordan, which is a horrible song (And that is why they only hear that), but I quite like some of his other songs, like Soothsayer. I don't really like how he wears the mask, since it hides any emotion you could see. Anything out of MTV is overrated, I just can't name anything specific there's so much.

What are the worst song lyrics you've heard?
I know I will probably be condemned for saying this, and I also know that the song is about an acid trip, but I am the Walrus has lyrics that make absolutely no sense. Lyrics The only reason I hesitate posting this is because the song is awesome.

Gaming's Worst Ever Sequals
Yes, Guitar Hero 3's set list was harder, but that was off-set by the easier gameplay. I also just like the songs on GH2 more because they are thrash-ier, and I'm more into punk. And maybe I was exaggerating when I said GH3 was a huge letdown. I am disappointed in the way they made it easier and some of the songs they chose to add. It is only the DLC that is hard for Rock Band. High Tides and Green Grass was challenging though. Speaking of Rock Band's DLC, I love how much they are pumping out. To me it just means a greater chance of getting really good songs to play. It also means that when I finally decide to buy some of it, I will be scrolling through hundreds of items.

Mass Effect peeps
The game's storyline is pretty awesome. Trying to explore all the planets can be a bit boring though. Online would have had great potential if it was considered. I kind of wanted to be able to play with some squad members that actually did something.

mythbusters
I love the show, and so does the [not-so-inner] pyro in me. I really just like the way they go about their experiments. One of the episodes I found to be cool was the toy car vs. real car one. It sucks that they couldn't get the track to cooperate though. I could just go all over the place with this. From Kari to the explosions to the science to the humour. Holy [Cabbage], this just may be the greatest show in the universe.

Honestly...
I stopped. And I didn't do it for that long, either. Besides, I play football. I woulda had to stop anyway.[/quote] I would disagree with that. I know several people who are very good at sports and still smoke, like two guys on my hockey team, and probably more than that on my rugby team. No offense, but Rugby>Football. Nothing like stepping on the face of that kid you just smashed up  I'm kidding, kind of.

What do you think will end the human race?
Agreed. But I don't think he'll end it on PURPOSE. Maybe someone will bug him too much. Good point, it's hard to be supreme ruler of something that doesn't exist. Also, if anything bugs him, it will probably be free will. I heard he doesn't like that. People doing what they want when they want HA!

What will end the human race? Lenin.

Honestly...
I'd say that the only reason your parents are "paranoid" is because they have caught you with cigs, atleast twice, and recently too. I'd definitely say to either find somewhere you can keep them safe, but while still looking inconspicuous. For instance, don't just put them in some mini-safe. I'd say to get/make something with a false bottom. I'm pretty sure my brother did that when he owed my parents money. However, I'd say the best think to do would be to stop smoking. Better to get rid of the thing thats making your parents paranoid for a bit than try to hide and possibly make your parents more concerned/suspicious.

Halo
Thant's basically it though I must add a few things... [hide=Other Facts]Earth is in the firing zone of the Halos. When the halos went off and removed all sentinent life from the galaxy, the Librarian was perched upon Mt. Kilamanjaro. She was able to index a human man and woman, taking them to the Ark for the safety. Though, the Forerunners didn't survive the blast (Unknown why). When the galaxy was safe, the Humans went back through the portal to Africa (where most people believe life started on Earth ;) ). I saw a picture of all the halo's locations and their firing radius. I'll try to find it. :ugeek:[/hide] That picture would be awesome. This is really making me want to read the Halo Novels. Either way, I'm off to do some recording. EDIT: Brother is playing Fable atm, so looks like I'll have to wait. EDIT2: Would this be the picture you are talking about? And to save me some work I found the Terminal text For something a little bit cooler Interactive Terminal [hide=Addition to what Bluejay said]After reading through halo.wikia articles, I think I know what happened. The Forerunners' plan was to destroy the Gravemind using an AI called "Mendicant Bias". Mendicant Bias was put in direct contact with the Gravemind, in order to learn of any weaknesses. This direct contact allowed the Gravemind to convince Mendicant Bias that the Forerunners were denying evolution, the next step of which being the Flood. Mendicant Bias turned on the Forerunners. He commanded a fleet to break through what is called the Maginot Line or Sphere, which was basically a defensive line set up around the Forerunner inner colonies. In response to this, and to give them time to finish building the Halo arrays, they created Offensive Bias. Offensive was outnumbered 436.6:1. During the battle, the Halo Arrays were built and fired. This rendered many of Mendicant's ships useless, allowing Offensive to win. Offensive fragmented Mendicant Bias across many ships, with the intention of safely delivering him to The Ark. Only one part of Mendicant reached the Ark, and that is the part supplying the information for the Terminals. Now, the reason the Forerunners did not survive the activation of the Halos is because they planned on retreating into "Shield Worlds" which would protect them from the Halo activations. The betrayal of Mendicant Bias prevented them from doing so. I believe this is because Keyships were needed to enter the shield worlds or pass through the Maginot barrier, but in order to prevent Mendicant from passing through the barrier, most of the Keyships were destroyed. The ship that Truth was on was a Keyship, and that is the reason it was able to activate the portal to the Ark. To sum that all up, an AI betrayed the Forerunners, preventing them from finding safe haven within Shield Worlds when they activated the Halo Array. Oh, and The Ark acted as a control center for the Array, allowing simultaneous activation and a "Foundry" for automatically re-building and Halos that were destroyed. It was located outside of the firing zone for the Halos, but not too far, since you are able to see the Milky Way on the level the Ark, while the Earth was inside the firing zone. Theory: All events regarding Halo, with the exception of those surrounding the Ark, take place within the Milky Way Galaxy.[/hide]

Halo
[hide=Answer (Includes spoiler)]The Ark is also out of the reach of the Halo's firing radius... on the level "The Ark," right when you start look up... Thats the Milky Way, where the Halos are. Onyx and The Ark were the only safe spots for the firings, unless you were a flood in one of the Halo's reasearch centres. From the friendly old guys at Halopedia :D[/hide] Basically what I got from the Terminals. I try to explain the whole use of the Ark. It is a bit of a spoiler. [hide=To go even further]The Ark isn't just for firing the other Halos. Like you said, the Ark is outside of the firing radii of the Halos. The Ark was meant to be a safe haven for the remaining Forerunners when they fire the rings. The Ark is not just outside of the firing zone, but also the infected zone (Earth was outside the infected zone, but not the firing zone I believe, not too sure though). One of the Forerunners was in charge of a team archiving all known species within the firing zone. She came across Earth, and humans. She decided to stay on Earth. There is more, but I'd have to go and read through all of the Terminals to get it. Maybe I'll record all of the text from them. That actually sounds like a good idea :geek: You'll pick it up if you read the Terminals, they revealed some very interesting things. And in case you didn't know, you have to wait a bit to access the "real" Terminals when you access one. A siren will go off, the text will be encoded, and the background will be red. Wait for a few seconds and then the sirens will stop and an animation that looks as if you are looking through some honey-comb shaped archive will start. After the animation, you get the real Terminal. Pressing 'A' and 'X' lets you scroll. Oh, and (pending my memory of the Halo 2 ending) I don't think the monitor said that Halo (The correct term is actually Delta Halo, Halo is the original one destroyed in CE) can be activated from any ring's control center.[/hide] [hide=Recording (Said text from said archives)]Someone PM if you're interested in helping me record all of the Terminals. It would add about 15-30 minutes onto each level (The levels being The Ark and The Covenent)[/hide]

Rock Band 2: The Opening Act
1) Guitar Hero compatibility was Activision's fault not Harmonix. 2) It will be compatible for RB2. I don't think you're getting what he's saying. He's just complaining about the guitar that came with the game. Guitar Hero guitars do work with Rock Band, but no the other way around. No one really cares, because like raven said, the Rock Band guitar is horrible and useless. Strum bar is stupid because while there is no clicking, quite a few people, including me, use the clicking to stay on beat. Alternate strumming is also ruined by that, because the strum bar gradually stops, versus the click of a GH guitar which allows you to both get the speed right and lets you feel that you're hitting the note. The only thing I've found good about Rock Band is the drums, everyone having their own multiplier, and being able to play with 4 different people at once, versus 2 for Guitar Hero. The setlist looks pretty good to me. I'm glad there's more metal that there was in the first. Some of the songs on the first were utter crap. Has anyone else found that, without that one series of drum rolls, Enter Sandman is possibly the most fun and easiest song in the game (Easiest compared to how hard it is rated as). If it wasn't for the drums rolls, it wouldn't be too long for me to get perfect on it.

Guitar Hero IV:World Tour - 100% REAL track list is up!
Something I'd like to see is an actual application of the whammy bar for playing notes, not just getting star power. No matter what though, I am only buying the game. No instruments, no nothing, just the game. I already have 3 guitars and a drum set, that is my limit (The only reason I even got the guitar for GH3 was because it was wireless, and my guitar for GH2 is a bit broken, but not enough for me to use my warranty [EB games rocks for it's $3 warranties]). No matter how cool they make any of the instruments, I will not buy them. The solo buttons on Rock Band are completely useless anyways. From what I've seen, I wouldn't have enough time to move my hand and get it in position before the solo without missing a note. Or I just need a little more practice with that.

Gaming's Worst Ever Sequals
I'd say that GH3 was a huge let down for me. They made the gameplay easier, the set list on GH2 was way better, the characters look like crap (All three singers!) and only good things were online and co-op career. For being easier, the timing window for when you can play a note is way bigger, especially for hammer-ons (Actually, the only way to miss a hammer-on in GH3 is to play it too late or the wrong note; apparently there is no such thing as too early). This is versus GH2, where the timing actually feels realistic. I just hate GH3 for certain things. I still play it because it IS easier, but I just don't like having to play hard. Oh, and don't try to say that Rock Band was even easier. It just had an easy set list, the timing is almost the exact same as GH2. P.S. The only reason it is possible for so many people to get past the beginning of TTFAF is because the timing sucks. Mod your PS2 and play a modded TTFAF on GH2, and you will probably fail instantly. Note: I think it is obvious that English isn't JBL's first language. I still think he should be able to type better, or atleast without the 1337speak. Stop flaming him already, but you should try to shape up you English JBL.

Top 10 Favourite Bands/Artists
To get out my playlist that I can always love, I'd say my top ten (Out of 50 something artists on the playlist) goes with no particular order: Streetight Manifesto Catch 22 NoFX Children of Bodom Pantera Iron Maiden Bad Religion The Misfits Metallica Atmsphere And because I couldn't decide, Dropkick Murphys Now, for the non-Ultimate Playlist: The Flatliners illScarlett (Anything from All Day With It and beyond is crap) Down With Webster Blink-182 Vampire Weekend The Strokes John Frusciante Bloc Party Five for Fighting Rise Against My playlist represents most of my classic rock, or stuff that I was introduced to when I was listening heavily to classic rock/anything from the past few decades. The other top ten is for Modern rock. By the way, The Flatliners are my current favourite band, Streetlight Manifesto all-time, and illScarlett hold the record for the album I can listen to for the longest non-stop (EPdemic, listened to for two days straight). I really have two playlists that, between them, could probably keep me satisfied for the rest of my life. Although I might add a bit if I were to do that, so it would come out to 365 songs, and represent every genre I listen to.

My Fitness and Weight lossProgression since summer of 07
I have a feeling I could take a few pointers from you man. And one of those would probably be sleep, I can hear the birds are out now. I'm surprised this is only the first time I've done this this summer. I'm off to bed with this, 5 a.m. is a bit late/early me thinks.

Out your backdoor
My backyard in the: [hide=Winter]Backyard 1 Backyard 2 Backyard 3 This is the front of my house. The snow ends up sliding down our roof and ends up like this, until it falls I will try to duplicate the positions of the photos, except for the sliding snow, tomorrow (Summer ATM)[/hide] Backyard 1 would have a snowboard/ski jump with a wooden bench (The ones usually used in school gyms) set up if the pictures were taken a few weeks later. It must have been a strange sight to people driving by to see me, my brother and our friends dressed up in our gear getting ready to start a run, since the start of it would be halfway across our front lawn.

Your favorite book/book series
This thread is giving me so much more reading material, and letting me re-discover some of the books I should read again. The Edge Chronicles were a wonderfully ridiculous, and I could make a pretty big summer reading list. I really do want to read all of these books, mainly because there's bound to be some very good books in there, along with thousands of hours of reading.
