  1. CLS is actually really good. I was leaning toward rapier but I did some clan wars yesterday. Some kid in full vesta, CLS, and divine beat me. I'm maxed/turm/OL and he 3 hit me. Multiple times!
  2. By the way, here is my usual procedure for the start of large maps: 1. Pick up (in order of priority): -- Good bows -- Rune Ess -- Coins -- Random valuable junk to sell -- Food -- Relevant Runes 2. Make Alch Runes, and if possible, GS runes 3. Alch some Sagg arrows 4. Buy Ess + Tools 5. Make other runes
  3. What do you suggest using cash for (other than food)? Melee legs? Herb seeds?
  4. Didn't know you could alch bound ammo. Btw, sagg arrows alch for 3k each. You mean C6, right?
  5. Thing is, I don't have either rapier or maul. And I'd prefer to get rapier as my first weapon. I'm pretty sure rapier would be better. With Ardycape/Defender, the stab bonus is like +121. With full gear (gloves, fury), stab bonus would be about +143. Strength bonus with defender would be 106, versus SS's 82.
  6. Not necessarily. SS will be more accurate but Rapier will be more damaging. The question is how much more inaccurate Rapier will be.
  7. With maxed melee/turm/OL, could chaotic rapier beat SS at waterfiends?
  8. I wanted to open up a discussion on high-level Dungeoneering strategy. TEAMMATES I find that good teammates make or break effective XP rates, so it's pretty important to get good teammates quickly and effectively. What is the best way to find teammates? Are there high level dungeoneering clans that I don't know about? How many high level Dungeoneers actually go to W117 to find random teammates? FLOOR SIZE / DESIGN CHOICES What is the most effective size for each floor? Should you ever use a lower complexity? For medium/large floors, should you always do 5:5 or is it worth it to do 5:4 in case someone drops? DESIGNATED TOOLS Is designating a single tool person always the best? Shouldn't you encourage all your teammates to hold at least a few basic tools? Opening skill doors is often a rate-determining step if the toolperson is separated and far away. I also think the keyperson should always hold tools too, just because that maximizes the possible doors you can open. GATESTONES Should you use Gatestones on small rushes? My personal opinion is yes. They're extremely useful for bosses anyway, so you might as well make them. What is the best way to use Gatestones? How do you use them? Bosses to use gatestones on: Stomp, Plane-freezer, Astea Frostweb, Skeletal Horde, Sagittare. You should always gate outside of the boss room, I think. BOUND ITEMS What are the best order to bind: Blood necklace, Shadow hood, Pro Plate, Pro Spear? What is the best ammo to bind? Blood runes, Death runes, or Arrows?
  9. the f? how do you do 5 min banks? you must have someone ready at doors all the time, cause finding a dp alone takes around 3 minutes usually
  10. i'd especially like to hear how fast rex/supreme is with rapier+arcstream Idk about rapier but I get 30 supremes 30 rex 6-8 primes an hour with longsword and arcane stream. Rapier might add 2 more prime kills. Supreme and rex are always usually capped at 30 per hour due to spawn times, unless you are on world 2 or something. I'm getting 50-55 kills per hour with tribrid, and that's WITHOUT dungeon gear. I think tribrid really is better then, because you use MUCH less food and can stay significantly longer (2.5+ hours? instead of 1.5)
  11. i'd especially like to hear how fast rex/supreme is with rapier+arcstream
  12. For slayer, Bunyip is the best choice for you. The convenience added by not having to eat far outweighs the marginal damage a combat familiar can do at your level. Combat familiars really aren't useful until iron and steel titan.
  13. I prefer Dks over Td.. What would you recommend me with these Stats? (Atm Im Hybriding Rex/Surpreme) PS:First post here :) If you really want to do DK's, I'd solo rex at your stats. You could try hybriding too. Since you have a yak I think hybriding would be slightly more profit, at the cost of having to pay more attention and shorter trips. TD's would almost certainly be higher profit for you. It's really hard to run tribrid properly without turm/soul split and overloads. They're almost required to have a decent kill rate and a trip length over 1 hour.
  14. Longest trip so far (125 kills) in ~2h. Second ~10M trip
  15. Several legitimate points, except I enjoy tds and from what I'm being told they are more profitable, which seems rather convenient. I enjoyed TD's for a long while. However, after over probably 3000 kills I find them incredibly dull. I'm pretty sure they're better long-run profit than DK's though. Although, right now I am pretty broke (bank <150M) and don't want to risk a long drystreak at TD's (and thus a long period without good gear)
  16. Best way to approach it. I agree totally. It's extremely important to weigh in personal enjoyment. You also can't really equate a probabilistic expectation (probability * profit) with real profit. In other words, I'd very much rather make a consistent 2.5M/hr at DK's than have a long-run average of 3M an hour at TD's. I personally am in love with DK tribrid. It's easy, it's fun, it's a lot of profit. In my experience, I disagree. I prefer tribriding [Prime(til 10 hp)-Rex-Prime(finish off)-Supreme(SS/Range Flick)-Rex(SS)]. With that method, you can SS both rex and supreme and that saves you a LOT of food, meaning you can stay almost a full 1 hour longer. You also don't have to use longrange on Prime so your Prime kill is really quite fast. Plus you can expect at least 500k/trip, if not up to 1.5m/trip, just off of tallies The problem with looking at these things so mathematically is that there are so many factors unaccounted for. For example, the risk and chance of dying at each boss, the number of times you get crashed, hopping worlds, etc. That's why I hesitate to make such detailed calculations. All I do is record the profit after each trip to get a rough estimate of my profit, and if I'm satisfied with it then that's good enough for me.
  17. What Dungeoneering really needs is a separate website (or even on RS webpage) dedicated to finding/establishing good dungeon teams. One crucial thing is that there's a lack of accountability for slackers. It would be really nice to know someone's reputation before I invite them to my dungeon team. I was thinking about making one when I realized I still don't have adequate coding skills to do it -_-
  18. They are in shock from how terrible the body bodys stats are. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
  19. Seeing as how magic is by far more powerful than melee now, I was thinking of possible (SAFE) PvP setups for mage that don't require Ahrim's (and therefore such a large loss in defense). Has anyone tried such a setup, and can you attest to its effectiveness/worthlessness? Example: Guthan's helm Arcane stream necklace Bandos chestplate Ahrim's robeskirt Infinity boots Gloves -Barrows- Dragonstone ring (i) Guthix Cape Chaotic staff Farseer kiteshield +35% Mage Damage Boost Has +75 Mage attack, ~270 melee defense, ~250 range defense, ~65 mage defense, which is pretty reasonable defense.
  20. Woah chaotic staff is +20% magic strength? New ice barrage max 300 * (1 + 0.21 + 0.20 + 0.15) = 468 :ohnoes:
  21. anyone know what the protect value of arc stream is?
  22. thar's a silly excuse, shooting a rune crossbow without an accumulator, for an hour, costs 144k, a crystal bow costs 108k, is that really a substantial difference? Honestly I use a soul wars cape instead of an accumulator with rune crossbows now. and I still don't bother looting the ammo. you really should never ever loot the ammo you fire, unless you're using dragon arrows or something. not even diamond (e)'s? i think for me it's just the issue that i feel like i'm wasting something if i don't loot my bolts. i pick up even by broads. granted, they're always in piles of 20 or so cause the only time i use range is for td's and prime.
  23. i gotta say: GATESTONES ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT TOOL TO USE.
  24. In the rare occassions that I'd use range for slayer, and against tasks with high defense, I'd use diamond bolts. Yes they're really expensive but I and a lot of other MHers can afford it.
  25. and speed, right? cbow is 5speed, longbow is 4speed. the only real use for sighted mage longbow is long-range sniping in pvp. its range is ridiculous (as long as dark bow) apparently. also, i just don't want to put up with switching 2 cbows. just seems like a hassle. it also protects over anything.
