  1. Are you perhaps mixing up retribution/wrath and smite? Smite is the one that drains the opponent's prayer.
  2. The extra boost from turmoil will make you do more damage, draining more prayer. Smite is 1/40, soul split 1/50, so not really a big difference. I'd rather have the increased KO potential.
  3. ...You know that free trade is going to SOLVE most problems we have with manipulation, right? Manipulation is caused by the GE price limits making it so damn easy and profitable- now that a manipulated item won't take several days to lose its false GE price and become normally tradable again, there's little incentive to operate a merch clan. Now, instead we will see a group of "manipulators" set up shop at a specific item's spot and all collectively spam "SELLING X ITEM FOR Y GP MORE THAN EVERYONE ELSE." They'll drown out all the competition through numbers, and the competition will quickly sell their items because it will be cheaper and so soon everyone will have to pay the manipulators' prices. It's not viable long-term because they can't stay on all the time to keep the prices at what they spam, but it is a hell of a way to profit short-term. Yes, this would be extremely effective if the people couldn't just walk to the GE and buy the item at a reasonable price there.
  4. You won't hear me denying that, but my point in the post you originally quoted was that it's feasible for it to maintain a FFA community, not that FFA is omg the only way to kill Nex.
  5. So your argument is just that FFA in general is untenable? Nice, so I can just say flat out that you're wrong, because other bosses have active FFA communities. It's nice not having to deal with the annoying, flawed lootshare system, and also to have a team that is motivated to perform well instead of being asleep at the wheel, brewed down, because it doesn't matter how much damage they do. Corp FFA is a constant battle that stays interesting, 6 man corp LS is a boring grind. There's no reason why people wouldn't be drawn to the same thing at a new boss.
  6. ...You do know that corp FFA is quite popular, right? The core doesn't get stunned, but it's not hard to run away from it. You haven't provided any examples of things Nex does that will make FFA untenable. Everyone wants to damage the boss because that's how you get kills, everyone wants to kill the mages for faster kills (= more chances at drops) and you can't damage Nex until the mage dies anyway, everyone wants to spread out after smoke because the disease going away benefits everyone... The only thing I can really think of is not breaking people out of the ice prison attack, but people usually don't manage that in LS teams either. It's not like there are any good ways to screw your team over to gain an advantage at Nex.

  8. The general strategy for coughing is just to spec the first form out, and you will want to get rid of your cough, so it's prudent for everyone to stand back a ways after smoke gets specced out to let the small amount of disease she has time to inflict dissipate. I don't really see any other problems with it.
  9. Its ge price?? O_o if so when do you expect it to rise and what to stabilize at I don't expect it to rise- if anything deflation will cause it to fall slightly. The rate of inflation slowed not stopped. We need another major money sink like construction before we really get deflation Since the average price of items hasn't been rising much if at all in the last several months, and now we're removing the single largest source of inflation in the game, I don't really expect prices to rise...

  11. Re: Zammy solo, yeah, but it's a really easy and pretty fun way to spend a greater demon task now that they updated Kril to count as one . The killcount is super fast and it's never crowded. As for the soloing thing, people already do this, but the issue is that your group is crashable by one guy if you're not lootsharing. I don't see much changing on that front, because you'd still need at least one maxed out player with good gear to stand a chance against crashers.
  12. Ironically, Pernix is probably more in-demand than Torva. There's only really one place where Torva would be worth its cost to use and that's solo Bandos, but Pernix would help immensely at Kree'Arra, Corp, and Nex. Everywhere else, Torva is just overkill since with plain ol' Bandos you can still stay at any of the other GWD bosses in a duo/trio for as long as you have familiars/pray pots. Healing really isn't an issue. Torva would also be really good for Sara and Zammy solos with divine (you use melee armor and mage prayer for both of them). But yeah, as far as mainstream boss strategies, Pernix is a lot more useful than Torva.
  13. I doubt that she has a specific weakness to them, but I can definitely see a sighted mlb hitting well on her just because it's so accurate. The problem, though, is that you lose out on wearing a divine, which means you get hit a lot harder.
  14. Some bones, monkfish, and a spade on the ground, with the text "I don't have anything!" and "L0l dropped nub!!!!" in the chatbox.
  15. Yeah, its trade price will go up as people buy them at max. That only has significance for another 12 days, though.
  16. Personally, I say wait for the crash. Some people don't think partyhats higher than green are going to crash, though. It's a gamble either way. For the sake of sounding "stupid" once again -- when you say "crash" are you indicating that this is a crash from the current "street" price, based on the supposedly necessary amounts of combinations of (junk + items + whatever) = (x) phat, or are you predicting that the actual, eventual "GE" suggested price and/or street price after the return of free trade will be substantially less than the actual current "GE" suggested price? Jesus -- I think I just confused myself ... I mean it'll be worth significantly less than its street implies now. GE phat prices are completely arbitrary, so saying whether or not it will crash below that point is tough to say, especially once free trade comes out and does away with any economic significance passing med price would have. This assuming it will crash at all, which I think it will, but it may not.

  18. most stakers will still stake shields off O ye dem 2h weps. Can't really think of any good 1h KO weapons. Korasis? Maybe the Chaotic Longsword would be good for 1h staking, lol but wrong thread. Korasi is an insanely good 1h KO weapon. CLS would be good for armor on, but terrible for armor off.
  19. Yellows are gone, greens are close. Glad I got rid of my red a while ago, I don't see it faring that well either.
  20. So far I think that purple has 'crashed' and yellow is pretty close. Green in my opinion won't last until free trade. The higher ones will likely last until free trade when those people who want a quick out will sell them ASAP, thus flooding the market. The only question is, is the demand for phats going to be high enough to withstand the flood or will red / white crash? (I don't see blues really ever 'crashing' in the modern sence of the term because of its rarity). Blues aren't more rare, just more hoarded.
  21. If she hasn't got any junk to trade it with, or other risings to reach a divine, that's a tough one. Yellow is going to crash pretty hard for sure, street-wise, but I'm not sure if it'll reach below the current max price.
  22. Ok, this has been ponied out twice now, and I'm calling foul. To say it isn't broken assumes: A level 138 using melee utilizing all equipment availble in the game (limited by inventory slots) has better chance against a level 138 ranger and worse chance against a level 138 mage. Likewise, to say it isn't broken assumes: A level 57 with 60 atk, 60 str, 80 range, 80 mage, 10 def, 60 con, 0 prayer has an equal chance against a level 57 with 40 str, 40 atk, 52 rng, 52 mag, 40 def, 40 prayer and 40 con, with each decked out with the best equipment and items they can use. IF the above cases are true, then you're right. Nothing needs to be changed. Of course, under the current system, you can't have a level 138 mage UNLESS you raise atk and str. That alone tells you something is wrong in RS land. That the pure can use whips, ancients and plethora of other high level items also tells you that equal levels does not mean equal combat potential. Take away all the items, then yeah, they might have an equal shot. However, kindly offer up reasons why you think it's not broken. Perhaps I'm wrong, and merely misunderstood people when they talked about op pures or about the combat triangle being broken. To say it's broken assumes that combat level absolutely must correctly determine the relative strength of players and monsters with no margin of error whatsoever. Clearly this isn't the case, as we've gone 10 years and the game hasn't imploded yet.
  23. It's also a sound assumption, economically speaking. Rares are incapable of entering the game while being capable of leaving, be it through loss on death, alching/dropping, or quitting accounts. Meanwhile, more people continually enter the game, increasing the ratio of people who would like to have a rare versus number of rares.
  24. red phat+ I didn't think they were still that high, I only saw a couple red offers for helms in the first few days. Is that really true?
