You have to remember that the Church values human life very seriously. What other choices would the Church have if they are forced to do abortions? Either they do it (which is never going to happen) or get sued, lose money and shut down (which none of you want). The only alternative option I see is to allow religiously run hospitals to deny abortions. The girl can go to the other 70% of hospitals that does it. The Church can help them in different ways, not just by terminating life. Counselling. Additional support from community. Donations. Basically the Church can, and will, help them in any possible way (aside from abortion). Maybe the government should build facilities so that suicidal people can hang themselves. It's their right and they do not have to tell their parents.

My university allows British and American english just as long as you are consistent. E.g. If you use American english, you have to use American english. Maybe it has to do with the fact that there are a lot of international students.

I don't mind breast feeding, all mothers try to be respectful anyway. I'm just wondering, what makes people 'uncomfortable' about breast feeding?

RWT would actually be more profitable today. The reason I think bots are not 'seen' is because since the trade limitations were introduced, the average runescape player cannot run their bots for a few hours and trade their profit with their account. If Jagex has stopped upgrading their so called bot-detection system, then they haven't done all they can.

16th December 2008 - Christmas Event and Quest
Rollyboy replied to Junkie_Joe's topic in General Discussion
Fairwell Boris, but at least I'll look good. Santa's hood would of made the outfit complete. Oh well. -
I agree with the OP. It was especially tiresome when I was cutting magic trees. I live in a timezone when the average population of worlds are low (200 -300), and when all magic trees are down at the same time you would have to wait 5 - 7 minutes. Waiting that long always seemed forever. Forever-ever-ever forever-ever-ever forever. Some posters have indicated that the tree has a set amount of logs. But I've always thought that it depended on the individual(s). For example; If four players (A, B, C and D) were to cut a yew tree, the following individuals would randomly be assigned a number of logs that could be obtained. Such that; A: gets 7 logs B: gets 22 logs C: gets 1 logs D: gets 10 logs Since player C is only assigned one log, the tree would "fall" after that. Therefore since there are more players, the probability of one player being assigned with obtaining less logs can be directly related to the probability of how fast the tree falls. In other words, the more people cutting one tree the more likely it will fall. This can also explain why an individual is more likely to obtain more logs by themselves. If you were to take players A, C and D out - player B would obtain more logs. But since player A, C and D are included the probability of B obtaining more logs lowers. This is just my guess of how it works, unless it's stated somewhere that trees do have a set amount of logs.

Nothing. I'll be celebrating for what Christmas is, the birth of Christ. Yes, you can say it's a time for giving and family. But can't you do that any other day?

Man Given $873 Million Dollar Fine For Spamming FaceBook.
Rollyboy replied to Da Pirates's topic in Off-Topic
Not going to deter other spammers. If execution can't lower crime, what is a debt going to do? He will most likely not pay the fine, therefore go to jail. Which will cost the tax payer around $AUD 40,000 a year. All his got to do is avoid big bob. And if he is sent to a minimum prison he can also play xbox or ps3. -
Racism is racism. Aboriginals are the most disadvantage group in Australia. Mainstream services such as employment, health, education and housing are not particularly adaptive to needs of indigenous Australians. Aboriginals therefore are given incentives to go to school because a high percentage of them do not attend school. What better way to tackle this problem through education. Education breaks the cycle of poverty. If the government did nothing, the 'laziness' that appears to be assumed will continue. It should be noted that though majority of white Australians are well off, but they are still entitled to benefits if they are struggling. And this is why racism will never end.

High level 1 defence pures are utterly useless in f2p. If a normal character at this level eats beyond the K.O point, then the high leveled pure has extremely low odds at K.O'ing. Heck I could make a level 60 with defence that could beat my level 80 pure - just have to utilize the defence bonuses properly as to get the pure to hit as many 0's as possible and your in for the win. So yes I agree that pures should be kept low (So anyone willing to make a pure heed to this advice!). It's just sad to see that there are few high leveled pures left compared to low leveled pures. Less pures for me to vs  . Other than that good guide.

NO FOOD, NO POTS, NO PRAYER, NO SUMMONS, NO RUNNING, NO TELEPORTING. huh? I've never heard of such rules in 3 years of full time pking. Oh wait maybe duel arena... This is just an exaggeration of the so called 'honor code'. But to answer your exaggerated honor code:  Anything that was preset:
-
But you can't deny the fact that there are larger inconsistencies when defence comes into the equation (there is a thread that talks about such inconsistencies) As you should know, 1 defence pking reduces this inconsistency by a large amount - thus allowing both players to tear through each other more 'fairly' or 'consistently'. A lot of people have accused pures of cheating the 'system' (even though no one has actually defined this 'system'). But if you think about it 1 defence vs 1 defence pking allows an even playing field between players. Which is why I enjoy 1 defence pking. If they beat me they beat me - I or they can't blame it on anything else. I agree people can do what they like. But when a person says "I own pures" "defence ftw" "pures are easy", but are in a whole different style, all I can say is "Well duh...". It's like a person in a tank saying "I own all ground troops". The soldier already knows that, but they are both entirely different. Oh yeah this thread actually discusses two topics; originally it was just about skulling, then moved onto the broad topic of pking.
-
Ah yes I remember... Player1: fight? Player2: okay, but skull since im skulled. *wait for player1 to attack* Player1: Attack me -95% of the time you just have to wait it out for a bit till they attack- hehe... Okay... Some misconceptions of pure pking; 1. There is no skill in pking: It is true to some extent, but as I have said many times - with 1 vs 1 def the skilled pker will ALWAYS come out on top. I have vsed countless 1 defence pures, some that are easy, some that are average and few that are crazy at what they do. Someone constantly hitting high doesn't always guarantee a win. 2. Pures do not have prayer: Nearly all higher end pures 70+ do have prayer. They only use protection prayers either if they are getting piled or the other initiates prayer first - which is what most pkers do anyway. Ranged requires higher end prayers for higher hits also. 3. I own pures: True, but make a pure and then own them. "Defence only seperates us" - most anti-pures would have to readily agree upon this statement since the most common statement they use is "defence ftw". 4. Pures are stupid, since they don't train defence. It's a no brainer that a pure can easily get defence (they do train with the handicap of 1 defence). And I' am pretty sure that most pures have another account that has defence - so they would most likely know the difference between having defence and not having it. 5. Pures are up themselves: A lot of RuneScape players are up themselves. Unless you have a complete bias against certain characters. As someone had said, defence makes this game easy. Want a challenge make a pure, there are a lot of skilled pures out there that will keep you on your toes. Want to have a walk in the park? Get defence, wear top end gear , watch the 0's roll in and tell a pure you own them..oh wait you are already doing that.* *Don't get me wrong, having defence is good when it comes to RuneScape as a whole (such as access to all quest, larger access to equipment, larger access to areas, larger access to earning money etc). But as you can tell I enjoy the challenge of 1 def pking much more.
-
The only thing that seperates you and a pure is your defence. A 100+ will just rely on a pure hitting constant 0's, thus winning by merely only outlasting a pure. Get 99 defence and you have the certainty of winning, but vs a skilled pure under the same duress as they are (as in 1 def vs 1 def) - I can assure you that the odds will always favour the skilled one. Any experienced pure will know this. I just had to include that since you make it seem as if pures are not good at what they are. But what I find disappointing is that the OP focuses the topic around a pure. From my experience of so called 'name calling' in RuneScape, ALL types of players are guilty of the same sin.
-
I've also experienced these inconsistencies ever since I began to PvP. Sometimes you can beat another player with better stats then you. This is one of the reasons why I choose to PvP with and against 1 defence. It takes away the majority of 'randomness'. You either beat the player or not, none of that guessing if your stats match up against them.

Tip.It Times Presents: The Plight of the Safe Spot
Rollyboy replied to Turtlefemm's topic in General Discussion
Some mid-high level monsters in f2p have lost their safe spots. Even in areas where players should logically be able to range/mage over an obstacle (e.g. Ice warriors where you mine blurite - use to be able to safespot over the rocks). That's why trained most of my ranged/magic levels in p2p or I'd be stuck with the low level monsters f2p. I couldn't agree with you more. If there are the same monsters in a room, then it would respectful to go for the other non-safable ones. But if it's a single monster in a room then other factors would come into play; such as who got there first, if other worlds are full (in other words competition) etc ... then depending on the situation it's fair game. I don't think Vhellcat meant "If there is a ranger let them train and you have to leave". That would be silly. But I have to say, when it comes to training very, very, very few RuneScape players are courteous. I think Jagex should put in (or think about) more safe spots. There are a lot of areas/monsters that are not used at all. This would ease up other areas and put old areas into good use. -
The return of teleblock?

After more than 8 months...this is going to be really cool. No doubt some pkers have an ego* when pking (what do you expect when direct competition comes into play), but saying only 'pures' reflect such attitudes is just so untrue. *Some skillers also have this ego ("Hey I got better levels than you" type thing) Anyway it's great to see Jagex is getting "old school" PvP back into the game, something I really enjoyed in the game.

Bounty Hunter - Huge Mistake On Behalf Of Jagex?
Rollyboy replied to sirgudi's topic in General Discussion
From a minigame point of view it isn't so much a waste (they could improve it by adding more content to it). The wild was however everything now put into one - so no competition there. Only proper gold famers farm now, no more regular joes are doing it - since it's a big waste of time. It has slightly cut down RWT trading, as multiple gold stores are still online. But it has definitely stamped out own player trades. But I find it hard, that a sweatshop, could be so sophisticated in credit card fraud - that they could close down a multi-million dollar company. Jagex had said that they were banning thousands of accounts that used stolen credit cards to pay membership. That would mean thousands of credit card numbers were being stolen each week/month, and once a credit card number is found to be stolen - it is basically rendered useless, hence the sweatshop would have to steal thousands more credit card numbers each week/month. So in conclusion these sweatshops were so sophisticated in gaining credit card numbers and details. Yet they are still stupid enough to use these thousands of stolen details to play a game (to make ingame money, which took some time) to make real life money that is already readily available through the stolen details. -
Most of the updates for f2p were to give f2p'ers a 'taste' of p2p. FoG; FoG is a pvp minigame. You could say BH, clan wars and duel arena in a sense is a 'minigame' - but they were essentially used as a 'replacement' for the different types of events? that were held in the wild. Acheivment diary; Again a 'taste' of p2p. The only thing missing from the 'taste' is a high leveled boss monster.

Never experienced prank callers that bad. But we did get a person(s) call my house, when we answered they would hang up. This went on for 2 weeks. Turned out they were just checking if anyone was home so they could rob my place.

Do we need more Account Security in Runescape?
Rollyboy replied to Dire_Wolf's topic in General Discussion
Just having a username and password is secure enough. The only thing that needs securing is JaGex's trash cans. There's a load of information you could acquire just from dumpster diving. -> calendars with special dates of employees, company phone book and address, cd's, hard drives, blue prints and other pieces of useful information Here's a quick one. Ring up JaGex; "Hi I'm Bill from maintenance from (state a company listed in the phone book), I was meant to get a password and username to briefly assess the servers , but Mr. Gower is away for the week (special dates) and must of forgot to call in. Mr Fisher ('Bill's' boss which would likely be listed in JaGex company phone book) asked me to call and retrieve the username and password that is required" ^ Larger companies have fallen prey to this and have actually given out access codes to their entire company. Unless there are protocols such as call backs or completely deny over the phone information - companies are doomed. Then boom! The servers security is breached, your account is open to attacks, your little brother is crying.... OR Start an intimate relationship with one of the staff that works at JaGex. So whos willing to date Andrew just for a few passwords? Unless someone is willing to do any of the above, Rune|Scape is safe. But who the hell would go to all this trouble just to hack some pixels.
