  1. What's fighting fire with more fire going to get you? Yep, even more fire. Try to stay polite to a cetain level, and if that won't do it, a neighbourhood petition against noise always works with the cops.
  2. My friend explained to me the other day that those count as "Americana" and not country. I've been listening to the Avett Brothers lately. Fair enough, Americana it is :)
  3. http://arenascape.net Just making a little publicity for Silvy's game here, it's the foundation of this entire site, so you guys better play it :)
  4. I'm on a high - Millionaire

I've been wondering if any of you actually play football on a rather high level? Good old Korla, some people will still know him as a former mod, plays at Helsingborg, which equals the best football in Sweden. I used to play in some 3rd rank local club, nothing special. But a lot of my friends still play, and 2 of them were asked to play for Anderlecht, another now plays in Zulte-Waregem, one of the premier league teams in Belgium.
  6. This possibly has been said before but.. another great quote from the Godfather: [while holding a pistol against the poor man's head] "Either your autograph will be on this document, or your brain."
  7. Yeah, it's fantastic. Some bands just blow you away, because they have a whole new appealing sound, like Sigur RÃÆÃâÃâós and other good post-rock bands, or because they're just fantastic in what they do, like The Arcade Fire. I bought this album for my sister's 25th birthday, I already have it myself.
  8. Such as..?
  9. I've seen them live earlier this year as well, and it blew me off my socks. I've been to more than a hundred gigs, but this one beat every single one of them. It felt as if I was in a trance rather than just enjoying a great gig. And yeah, don't download music from bands who deserve the financial support. Sigur RÃÆÃâÃâós is definately one of them. I have their 4 albums, so I'll quickly give a description of each one of them: Von: very basic, very primitive and experimental. The one that most people raise an eyebrow from Agaetis Byrjun: this one is a mixture of classical music and the traditional post-rock of the band. The most relaxing one of them all. (): this untitled album is my personal favourite, it engulfs you with the typical Icelandic atmosphere and I guarantee you it will give you an eargasm over and over again. Takk...: the most popular album, because both GlÃÆÃâÃâósÃÆÃâÃâóli and HoppÃÆÃâÃâípolla are on it, the two best known numbers of the band. This is what Sigur RÃÆÃâÃâós is known for. Oh, if you really like Sigur RÃÆÃâÃâós, consider buying 'Finally, we are no one', my favourite album from MÃÆÃâÃâúm, another fascinating Icelandic post-rock band, only slightly more experimental and less instumental.
  10. It happened live here in Belgium. 30 prisoners escaped last week
  11. Ode To Joy - Beethoven Aaah, the beauty of classical music never ceases to surprise me.
  12. Just bought and I don' buy many Beatles albums, firstly because they're horribly overpriced, and secondly because they're hardly a band badly in need of financial support. The 3 first albums were 16̢̢̮ââ¬Ã¡Ãâì, 7.5̢̢̮ââ¬Ã¡Ãâì and 11̢̢̮ââ¬Ã¡Ãâì. Abbey Road however, was 23̢̢̮ââ¬Ã¡Ãâì...
  13. And this strange one:
  14. Man, finding that 1 wasn't easy in some of the last ones. That boot-alike drawing especially.
  15. I don't really like most country music, but I love quite a bit of folk-country music, like Sufjan Stevens or Johnny Cash.
  16. I have no shame in knowing its Nena, and the one she sang was in German called 99 Luftballoons ^_^. When I was in Berlin at the weekend there was a live band at a pub and they sang it yay :D I mainly listen to music in: English German Icelandic/Hopelandic Finnish Swedish Dutch I have been known to listen to the odd bit of Spanish, Italian and Japanese too but not as often as the ones i already said. Dutch?? What bands that sing in Dutch do you listen to Merc? As for me: the languages to be found in my collection: English Icelandic/Hopelandic Dutch German Spanish French Canadian French, which really cannot be considered the same :) Italian Danish, Swedish, Finnish and Norwegian Gaelic (a number of Enya's songs are Gaelic, I believe) Irish, Scottish, Welsh

Tsktsk. Only 20 CDs yet 45 Gb of music. That's roughly 40 times more downloaded music than original music.
  18. That's a lot of good bands there! What I would want to see should I go: Pearl Jam Placebo Franz Ferdinand Muse Artics Feeder The Streets Kaiser Chiefs Belle & Sebastian Panic! At the disco Flogging Molly (!) The Raconteurs Bodycount Reel Big Fish Flogging Molly, again  Oh, may I advise you to go and check out Soulwax: Nite Versions and 2ManyDJs? They were considered the best performers at Werchter, a similar festival in Belgium. They're also Belgian, so you just have to see them ;)
  19. Well, I've always done it since I got this computer. I put the bit of music I had on my previous computer on this one, and I thought I'd just keep it keen by mapping every album per artist and all artists per category. Everytime new music adds to the pile, I search the cover for it and put it on the map of that particular album. It's not a lot of work if you do it every single time you add music, but it would be a hell of a job if all songs were just stuffed together.
  20. I must say long(ish) hair looks better on most girls. They need to have a really beautiful face if they want to look good with short hair.
  21. And there are people like me, who listen to a lot of bands, but own very few albums and have seen the covers of not much more than those they own :P Well, you could also keep all music in seperate maps, like I do: http://img234.imageshack.us/img234/5289/naamloosqg3.jpg And then there's a number of albums, each in a map, per artist. I may not be well-structured in anything else, I am when it comes down to music :)
  22. Actually it's not that funny. A friend of mine got feed 20,000̢̢̮ââ¬Ã¡Ãâì for copying music and selling the CDs he burned. But he was known as the Don of downloading and copying music, games and software throughout our region. I myself still have a bunch of CDs of his. Oh, the result: his father is a high ranked cop, so no harm done eventually :-$
  23. Bob Dylan was definately the most influential musician the US has until this day. But it's always very hard to argue who's the greatest. However other (lost) souls thinks J.Lo is better.
  24. I've never broken a bone, but I did break an entire tooth last year while playing football (soccer, FYI). It was broken right to the root, and it hurt incredibly much. Imagine the pain you have when you have a hole in your tooth and multiply that by a lot.
  25. :-$ You're ruining my business if it leaks out!
