I'm a pretty good skiier. It's our national sport after all. I used to go skiing for a week or two every year. This year i didn't however. I hope there will be an opportunity this winter =)

idk... When i was 13 i got wasted at least on Saturdays for some time. Eventually i stopped doing that though. With 15 i started smoking pot. We were high most of the time in school. We even had a bong in the locker. *sigh* It was a hell of a time. Other drugs i did only rarely. Nowadays i drink a bit and smoke pot every once in a while. I smoke two packs of cigarettes a day though. So that means, i wouldn't go out and tell teenies to get wasted or whatever. They do what they want anyway. There are much more efficient ways to waste your life. Like working a boring deskjob for 30 years or watching TV. @flipflop - regarding 2nd hand smoke. I think it's a bit hypocritical to complain about 2nd hand smoke, as long as everybody drives around in their silly tin cans (aka cars).

Oh common! They are wizards. They dress in robes. The little extra fancy wouldn't have made me think that he's gay. I mean, i didn't even notice any extra fancy, because not only was he a wizard, he was Dumbledore - the "Yes i know i'm going to get killed, but to the prepared mind death is just the next big adventure anyway. So that's no big deal." Dumbledore. As such he is fancy anyway. Besides.. standing next to a half giant with a pink umbrella, who wants a dragon as a pet and often cries like a baby, he does look pretty ordinary actually. On the other hand, if somebody said one of the characters in Harry Potter is gay, who is it? Dumbledore would probably be the most likely to be. So i have to agree. That isn't a too big revelation, because it fits. I don't think it would fit any other character in the book. What's amazing though, is that she knows details about her characters that have next to no significance to the story. That's probably why the characters are that lively. EDIT: Thinking on it, you are right Sumpta. Everybody but Dumbledore dresses in plain, black robes. Snape is a geek, but he is definitely not gay. Besides he was in love with Harrys mother. Well, he is. Lucius and Draco are snobs, not gay. (Although Lucius.. ) Already said, why Snape definitely isn't gay. There is really nothing that would indicate Lupin or Sirius to be gay. Harry obviously likes girls and Ron is about as straigth as somebody can be (just picture what would happen, if Ron and Hermione were to spend an extended period of time alone together....) What does Dumbledore being homosexual have to do with him loving somebody? Or does she think that homosexuals can't love someone. What does it matter anyway, the books are finished and she never hinted on something, she can just make up whatever she wants, and obviously saying Dumbledore is the best shocker imaginable. True, that wasn't the answer to the question, but my guess is that she knew Dumbledore to be gay all along, she really wanted to drop the bomb to get this off her chest and this was as good an opportunity to do so as it gets.

My thought is that authorities mainly try to restrict hooligans, because they are afraid of violent people, rather than because of any real harm that is done.

Don't let your head get too heavy with hypothetical scenarios. Most likely you'll never have to judge any of these persons. On the other hand you'll have to live with your own actions. So imagine you are each person in every scenario. Imagine you intend to murder somebody and pull it off. Imagine you intend to murder somebody, but the attempt fails. I think there is quite a difference in how you'll feel about these two cases. Imagine you are one person ithe first scenario and then that you are the other person. No matter which person you are, the victim is dead anyway. I do believe btw that the person with the faulty gun would get a harder punishment then the guy. Imagine you are a truck driver and drive around with faulty breaks. Imagine you are a truck driver and run over a child, due to your faulty breaks. Imagine you are Vinny. Would you feel guilty for insutling the queen?

I didn't know that that has developed into such an art form. For those (like me) who don't know what these guys do:

GROOOOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! idk... If you really are my friend, you'll eat this tasty vinegar, pepper, salt sandwich. If you really are my friend, you'll eat that cockroach. If you really are my friend, you'll let me slap your face, twice. If you really are my friend, you'll walk hand in hand with me across the mall. If your really are my friend, you'll wear a dress of my sister and hop/ dance trough the mall. (hm.. how about combining the last two? or even the last three.) If you really are my friend, you'll jump into the lake in well, .. winter is bad. it's frozen then =P

The thing with the bills on the ground is that this does happen. People lose bills, others will pick them up. At least i have lost bills a couple of times. (Probably because i don't use a wallet.) I even dropped a 100 Euro bill purposely on the floor once during a psyhosis. Thought this bill was evil. Since that happend on a train station the next person coming around the corner probably felt lucky. Once i saw a guy picking a 10 euro bill up from the ground in a subway station. My point is that these things can happen - they can happen to YOU.

Obviously you wouldn't prove anything by that. You don't want somebody to give you money, you want to prove your point. That's the reason why it's hard to make an experiment to generate evidence for this theory. You'd have to look into your subconscious mind to see what you want. If what you get matches what's in your subconsicousness that would count as evidence for, if you don't get what you want to it would count against the theory. Now what would the setup for this experiment look like? You don't have to worry about wasting your money, since i guess you wouldn't buy a german book anyway =P

have you ever been in a us school to say that? HahahAHA! The schools teach US as a good-hearted country and its only goal is to spread and protect the ideas of 'democracy'. Load of bull. im kind of still waiting my question to be answered. I guess the media teaches rather then the schools. Ty, Malo, btw that: was about my point. The problem is that guilt and blame is something really heavy to us. Nobody wants to be guilty, so we try to blame anybody except us. Imo it has something to do with our religion, where guilt and sin is looked down upon extremey strong. (I don't want to go into more detail on this subject right now.)

o.0 I take it you disagree that Hitler was a victim of his own ignorance, anger and hate?
-
You are perfectly right, Kashi. Have a cookie!
-
Most amazing about it is that those monotonous tones aren't unpleasant. The best thing is when you got one of these running for a while and then turn it off. The sudden silence feels really heavy.
-
Your ignorance is astonishing. There wouldn't of been one time where Hitler being the leader of them all couldn't of stopped all the blood shed. He had just as much to do with the murdering of the millions of Jews and Gipsy's during the Holocaust as any other of his team under his leadership. And to then say that he didn't even kill one Jew in his life is such a naive statement to make. Its the leadership who make the decisions not the everyday soldier running the POW camps or fighting on the war-front. Of course there would of been the others who pulled the trigger. Are you that ignorant you'd think that Hitler (practically seen as a God to his countrymen) would of done his dirty work by going and killing mass amounts of people at a time. Of course not, all he'd be doing is giving the orders, which is murder no matter how ignorantly you look at the situation. The Leaders should always be taking the blame in whats happened in History. They shouldn't be seen as the "Scapegoat" as they're the ones in the end making the final decision. Every important decision would of been either made by Hitler or by one of his officials which would of been ran past him before being executed (concerning their plans). He was an Evil and Wicked Man who's lust for power and control caused millions of innocent lives to be lost. You are right. The "evil, wicked man" told us to kill them all! All the rest of us wash our hands in innocence. Everybody who pulled the trigger and bought Hitlers agenda is equally guilty. Then again i don't believe in such a thing as guilt. They are all victims. Hitler & all who followed him as well as all who died by their hands are victims of ignorance, hate and anger. That's right. I just said Hitler was a victim. Go ahead and stone me to death, go ahead and call me ignorant, go ahead thinking there is even a single "evil" person on the planet. Beware though, lest you become a victim yourself. It's very convenient to see things in black and white. EDIT: The reason why i called Hitler a scapegoat is because what is done is that all of the atrocities are blamed on him and maybe his close henchman and then we point the finger and say he is responsible for everything, while the rest is innocent. It's true that Hitler played a big role in this play, but blaming him won't remove the blood on the hands of the germans. And picturing him as the devil incarnated is certainly wrong. There are many facettes to Hitler, as there are to every person. EDIT2. I would even delve deeper into the materia, but i don't want to attract too much hate. If you wonder what i am on about, watch the movie "The Believer" about an antisemitic jew. The amazing thing about it is that this guys hate for everything jewish (which includes himself) is born of deep faith. During the course of the story he then begins to understand and accept himself and his religion on a very fundamental level.

I have to admit that most that i know about (Football) Hooligans is based on the movies "Green Street Hooligans" and "The Football Factory". However so far i figured it out Hooligan gangs (or firms) basically meet other firms and beat each other up. Often enough this happes in context of some sports event. What i wonder is, why anybody even gives a [cabbage]. Why are people like: "Omg! How awful! These bad, bad violent people!" Sure there are cases of "innocent" people get roughed up, but most of the time they just bash each other. I can't really see anything wrong with that. So why does the police even bother?

Woha! Spooky. Well.. help her then. Find out who she is and what she wants. (and don't try to collect evidence. That might freak her out.) We all know from ghost stories that there is something that keeps the ghost from passing on. Find it and fix it for her. Maybe you should find out, what really was happening. If somebody died at that place, then surely there will be some records of it. (I wouldn't exactly tell the ghost story to everybody you interview - not that they start thinking you are mad. Just say you are curious.) When it's all done, write a book about it =P

Iran, Mutually Assured Destruction, the Strangelove Scenario
kelem_ryu replied to Necromagus's topic in Off-Topic
I think you don't quite grasp the complexity of the conflicts in the middle east. True The US can't invade Iran or drop bombs on it. That would be political suicide. Unlike the Iraq, Iran is a democratic country that holds regular free elections. Also Iran has decent diplomatic relationships with a couple of european countries. The boyfriend of my sister happens to be a persian, so i know a thing or two about that country. My sister even went on holidays there. I have a very hard time to understand how the Iran belongs to the "axis of evil". If i were a Persian i'd be pretty pissed off about that statement. -
Lulz, Mein Kampf. My history teacher last yera ranted on for a week about hitler. Its like he loved him or something. :ohnoes: I think it is a big mistake picturing Hitler just in a negative way. He was human to and did good things to the country to. From the movies and documentaries i saw he even was a nice person to those close to him. Also he seemed to be a very charismatic rethoric. Painting him as the devil incarnated is definitely wrong. I even think the picture of the ravaging madman is very inaccurate. He just was a very passionate person - passioate about very wrong things. You can't blame WWII on Hitler though. That would be too easy. There are many factors that lead to this war and the attrocities that happend. Hitler just was the personification of the Zeitgeist. Like every famous or infamous person is a personifaction of something. These people just represent something that is felt by many others. Hitler is the perfect scapegoat. Sure he did his share, but i sincerely doubt he even killed one jew in his life. There were others who pulled the trigger. Antisemitic and nationalistic thoughts were very widely spread back then. I think Hitler just spoke out what the majority felt. btw... i don't really know what oh so bad the Japanese did during WWII. Sure Pearl Harbor, but that was a military target. They didn't blow away two [bleep]ing cities or gassed a couple million jews after all.

I actually doubt that that that is the problem. Exactly. Just because someone is aggressive or hyperactive doesn't automatically mean they need downers, frig. It just means that they need to release it, via activity like hunting, rock climbing, or some other sort of activity. Society just looks down upon most of these activities because they involve risks or danger, and we're so overprotective of our kids nowadays that we won't let them outside to play soccer without surrounding them with 4ft. of sponge. Well... what do we learn in school? Sitting on a chair for hours without moving. On those who get downers: Maybe they need downers, so they can sit quietly on their chairs. There isn't anything else they are supposed to do after all. Hm.. i just thought about my childhood. We hard a fairly big garden and the forest was only a couple minutes footwalk away, but what about kids that grow up in the city? Sure - they can go to the park, but it isn't quite the same, i guess. (Another thing about growing up in the city: I wonder what effect on the psyche it has, when all you see when you look out the window is a gray wall, opposed to seeing trees and stuff.)

and it does explain why girls keep on going for the dimmer jock types. The correlation between [rooster] and brain size is [cabbage]. Just something some "smart" guy with a small penis made up to make himself feel better. Also the actual size of a brain doesn't influence intelligence too much. Women for example have smaller brains then men. For my part i'm very content with both the size of my [bleep] and my intellect, so.. EDIT: Since i'm already on this topic, i read about a study that penises of blacks are on average larger then of whites, while asians are smallest. EDIT2: There is a much larger diversity in human subtypes in africa then anywhere else in the world. So the black "race" is much more diverse then whites, or asians.

But you do sing along to songs you know by heart sometimes when you are alone or at a concert? Singing is awsome!

@insane: I'm glad you see my point, because i'm not that convinced about my words per se. I just feel that there is something wrong with our society regarding agressivity, gender, and so on, something that wasn't a problem, before emanzipation. I'm not saying that we should go back, but i believe school shootings and similar things are the tip of the icberg of this particular problem. The movie "Fight Club" is about exact that issue. I actually doubt that that that is the problem.

I'm not sure you'd really like it.... Look one post above you... I guess I could write a longer post somewhere tonight though. I can tell you right now that the LSD one is nothing like LSD is.

[/hide] Nothing's really wrong with males. Afterall, a man's arms are a woman's fortress. O:) Nothing compares to a strong, gentle, loving man embracing you. I appreciate your appease, but especially gentleness isn't a particular male attribute. Denser Bones, stronger muscles, higher aggression potential - males are geared for violence. I also believe that at some level every woman, well females of any species, wants to be taken by the strongest and meanest, who doesn't care at all about her. That's where the image of Satan as the beast with goat legs and such comes from (also Satyrs are born out of this idea). Wich girl/woman hasn't ever had rape fantasies of one kind or another? These alpha dog instincts obviously seem to be an evolution mechanism. In our society they seem to pose a problem that is hard to tackle though. At some level we are all - both men and women wild beasts and you can redirect or surpress instincts only so much. I can't tell what is going on inside others, but my instincts yell for totally dominating everybody. My heart and mind tells otherwise though. I can't go around and beat random people to pulp, just because i don't like them. I can't grap every attractive woman by her hair or throat, press them against a wall or the ground and [bleep] them from behind. It isn't easy. It isn't easy.
