  3. I don't even know where to start responding to that. I'll just use warri0r's method I suppose: 1) So homosexuality is wrong because we havn't covered every inch of the globe yet? It's hard enough already providing food for everyone dude. 2) Um, Tundra? Lack of farming land? If you're going to disregard living conditions and capability to compensate for population growth, then you mineaswell just say we have a near infinite amount of land to be used by digging into the crust of the earth and building lightless caves for people. Besides, the problem isn't land, it's food; there is no dearth of available land on this planet. Well, unless you're planning to move to Japan :-w . 3) So your justification for sending people to tundras is that global warming is going to make all of the world hot  ? As I have already stated, you're not helping your argument by recommending that people live in difficult living conditions, when that isn't even necessary. Argue food, not land. 4) Iceland? Err... not exactly abundant with land martin  . Again, your land arguments are fairly unnecessary. 5) It already is a problem, especially in third world countries where most of the population increases are occuring. There's just barely enough food to supply everyone on the planet with proper nutrition (that is, there's enough, but there isn't the capability to transport it), and overpopulating won't help us at all. 6) So you'd be fine with every family having 10 kids, including the families that can sustain them? That's just... well, that's asking for worldwide famine within the century, at the very least.
  4. Sorry... It's hard to explain what I'm saying... As I'm sure you know, this stuff is very complicated... I know, I can see why it'd be a difficult concept to get across, which is why I'm asking for the sources you have- so I can read them and try and understand what you're saying. And no, Futurama doesn't count :P .
  5. Same :-k o_O. I've tried, not going to happen :-k . Get a job hobo :P . Copy the ones online. Nowadays the good decks are all pretty much identical, 'cause it's become a game about having cards that are powerful on their own, not having a deck that works together :-w . Kinda why I gave up on it :( . Good luck :P .
  6. Uh, I'm pretty sure any and all large modern superpowers are smart enough not to commit suicide... Guess I'll just have to stay bored then :( .
  7. So, does that mean you believe everything is a part of a single universal soul, that everything is interconnected through it by the infinite connections that bind all of existence together?
  8. :XD: I wouldn't say so, but that's just me :-w .
  9. Ugh... warri0r, anyone else want to cover this (especially that bolded part...)? My bluntness has caused him to block out anything I say at this point. I'll just say this, in hopes that I might be heard out (hopefully the biological argument can get through better than the physics one): When animals eat things, they don't "process it into energy", they "transfer the energy into a useable source". For us humans (not sure the extent this goes to), that's ATP. What we eat has energy already in it that we can use. We don't just "create the energy for it"- all we do is make the energy within it even more useful for our bodies (trigclycerides used for long term storage, sugar for short term, ATP gotten for immediate use through cellular respiration, etc.) Understand :| ? I just don't get where you're getting the idea that the energy in our bodies just suddenly leaps out to form a soul... If everything has a soul, then what matter goes to what soul? Does every mountain have a soul, even though they're interconnected? Or does the whole mountain range have a soul? Or, since it's all just a big bump in the crust of the earth, is it just the earth that has a soul? Again, I'm having trouble thinking how one can just "draw the lines" between groups of matter to decide which ones join up to contain a soul and which don't.
  10. Great idea Adam :P . This should be good for the community, especially with all the recent events and threads >_>. That's a hard list though; I might need a bit to compile mine :-k . I'll edit later when I'm done with it I guess. EDIT:

Wow, that's saying a lot... You really like Misfile, don't you? Have you been here the past week  ?

Ah yes, I was thinking of mentioning manga, which is insanely good, but I felt it would be unfair to compare something that's sold to something that's free on the internet :P ('cause manga's are meant to be sold, not downloaded, so that loophole doesn't count, even if I'm guilty of it >_>). Nonetheless, excluding FMA, this is the best storyline I've ever had the pleasure reading : .

The horror of that first sentence caused me to skip a beat o_O. Then I finished reading the post, and was finally able to exhale. Compared to some other stuff I've seen, especially for a webcomic that updates daily, the drawing is hella good. Heck, there's no reason to even consider the compensations, the drawings are great. What do you find that's wrong with them? And the comic isn't really about jokes, though it has it's moments- which makes the storyline even better. It's like a good book; it makes you laugh at times, but that's not what keeps you interested, that's just a bonus. It's the storyline, the plot, the problems that the main characters have to deal with that keep the reader hooked.

I actually havn't read it yet :XD: ... think I'll check it out now, see if it's any good :-w (though, let's keep this thread on Misfile pl0x :P ). Hardly the one to talk Mr "I'm going to mention Misfile a few times on the other thread and see what happens" :P Heh, but yea, I agree, thats probably a good idea  Touche :P .

  16. See, that's just thinking too much about mythology. I can understand the need to think we humans, who can feel empathy, have souls, but a burning mass of hydrogen  ? That's pushing it. And where do you draw a line for a soul in living organisms? Zebras? Rats? Flies? Bacteria? There is no line to be made. The logic of the concept is just... nonexistent. From a human perspective anyways :| . I know (thanks for clarifying the point though, very well written), I was using that as a kind of metaphor for humans in general... we seem to have this kind of egotistical, yet inferiority need to consider ourselves "special", above all other existence. It's a need to believe that there's something beyond this mundane life... and basing ones beliefs solely off the need for that belief is, in my opinion, wrong. Quite sorry, but you sir have merited the  emoticon, combined with a :ohnoes: with a fresh hint of :-s . Do you understand the concept of bond energy being retained within the molecules of our body at all? Do understand how we use the energy from the food we eat? Take a biology class for Christ's sake, or rethink what you're saying for a second. Please, for your own sake, listen in biology class when you take it. The energy is still in your body when you die.. in the ATP, in the sucrose, trigclycerides (sp?), in the cells... it's retained in the bond energy of every last molecule. Do you think that as soon as someone dies, *poof*, all the energy in their body is gone? Disregarding the fact that that's completely illogical in matters of physics... if that were true, how the heck would carnivores that kill their prey be able to survive? Why would decomposers eat our remains if there was no useable energy there? Understand? The energy is still in your body when you die, in the nutrients, being used into your very last breath. It doesn't dissappear, it doesn't all just leave the body. It's still in their, ready to be used in the Circle of Life. You've watched the Lion King, havn't you :P ?
  17. If you think this thread is spam, then why are you posting on it? As Sumpta said: If you think his post is spam, why are you responding to it? Let's cut down on the quote chains people. This thread would look much better without them :| .
  18. there are 74 humans and horses.... Wrong close try though 50 humans, 24 horses :| ? Err... this thread's going well...
  19. Err... or it just goes to da decomposers :-k . It's not destroyed, it simply reenters the life cycle. No magic there. The whole "energy" argument is cute guys, but it's pretty illogical to try and force something like the soul into the category of natural phenomena :| . There is no precedent for energy being retained to sustain consciousness, and all we know about energy points to the contrary of these arguments... just say it's supernatural and be done with it. Me, I don't believe in the soul... just for how illogical the concept is. What, was there some line in this races history where all of a sudden "poof", we had a soul? Why should only we have a soul, and not other living organisms? Hate to say it, but I've always considered the soul to be little more than a story to help the little tikes sleep at night :| .
  20. I wouldn't state it like "90%, 10%" scenario, but more like that they're just both necessary for bulking up. If you only lift and don't eat much, you wouldn't get much stronger. But at the same time, if you only eat and don't lift... well, we Americans know what happens then of course  .
  21. 3. You just haven't practised enough. If you had stronger arms and better agility/balance, you'd be able to. You don't need strong arms to do handstands (known from personal experience  ). You just need to have good balance; balancing yourself properly almost seems to make your weight cancel itself out :-k . So ya, if you want to get handstands down, get headstands/tripods down first, then have someone help you do handstands by holding your legs in place. Once you get to the point where you can do it safely on your own, it's just practice practice practice :P . Looks like you are stronger than you think, I've just tested that on my little brother (I made him go into a handstand next to a wall) and he couldn't hold it for very long (by very long I mean 5 seconds) because his hands got tired  (He's 11) I did tripods and headstands before but in my opinion it's a lot more different than a handstand and it doesn't help you learn it. Here's a handstand tutorial. http://www.beastskills.com/Handstand.htm Well, putting aside the fact that I'm a teenager and you're brothers only 11, being able to do a handstand at any given moment depends a lot on how tired you are (whether it be because of sleep or hunger, fatigue makes it harder to keep perfect balance), and how well you can balance. If your brother hasn't been doing it for a while, if his balance isn't great, then he'll get more tired not because of his own weight, but because of any overcompensating for imperfect balance. Still, it's surprising that anyone would need to drop from a handstand after 5 seconds because of weight rather than balance. He should be pretty light at 11, so that makes it even harder for me to understand the concept :-s ; it should be easier to him in matters of weight to strength ratio. Sure he wasn't just losing his balance, or that his hands weren't positioned badly? Nowadays, for me the biggest factor when it comes to doing extended handstands is the amount of blood rushing to my head once I get past one minute  . Our bodies aren't exactly built to have gravity going the other way :-w .
  22. It depends greatly upon the force used, surface area, and time duration of each lick :-k .

I was thinking of your idea as a kind of last resort, or a different form of my idea (as I'm trying to make mine somewhat chronological as well) but I was thinking more along the lines of an outline that has categories that divide into subcategories, to make sure one gets the main idea of the plot simply by looking at it (like one you do for school, for notes). I suppose a timeline might be just as good... but it would be pretty frikkin' long ^_^' (which wouldn't help my goal of trying to make the story easier to understand at a glance, though it would help one remember the chronological order of things). I'm trying to get the story itself down to 3-4 Microsoft Word pages, but it's appearing quite difficult because of all the randomness in the webcomic :| . That's why I consider the races to be useful- they're seperated into pretty good, even intervals, and a lot of the plot has to do with them, including the side stories. The only problem is the last part, and the parts that have absolutely nothing to do with cars/racing... Oi. My brain hasn't hurt this much since I tried to fully comprehend the thought processes of the cat-and-mouse game between L and Raito...
  24. Ha, funny that you should mention that; when I was a little kid I used to have a bowl cut  . So I can tell you from experience, both haircuts suck. Not that that needed any explaining. Of course, they sucked even more for me since my straight thin blonde (well, now dirty blonde) hair doesn't have any thickness whatsoever, but they both still look terrible >_<. Deloria, do you have to get your hair cut often, or does your hair grow slowly? I'd be spending almost $150 a year on haircuts if I made sure my hair never grew an inch between each trimming...

Geez.. from my perspective I have no idea how to read that, as I could easily see myself realistically making a post like that :XD: (seeing as how I already finished the comic, and I have in the past watched 10+ episodes of subbed Bleach in one day, and I love FMA even more than Bleach :-w ). It's kind of confusing because appearently the first 15 episodes span over 3 years. So you can imagine the shock of finding out the 3 years had passed in the 6 hours of watching the show. It's actually pretty interesting that you mention that- in the manga, it starts out with Fullmetal at 15, and they never have the half-a-dozen flashback series (ep. 3-9), so it's a much smaller period of time (there isn't any point in the manga where Ed isn't a state alchemist, unlike the anime). As for the anime, it's not really like "3 years passed" in 6 hours. The first two episodes are when he's 15 and a State Alchemist, then 3-9, as I said, are flashbacks that started with Alphonse trying to explain their history to Rose. At the end of the episode "Gun no Inu no Gindokei" ("Be Thou for the People"), there's a small scene with Ed and Al in a taxi going across the desert, and that's when the story comes full circle and they're back to being 15 and 14 again. So again, it's not like 3 years passed... it's more like a day or two passed, with a couple episodes of flashbacks :P . Okay, okay, I'm rambling.... ^_^'. Moving on... Exactly! I really want to outline it chronologically, but it's just physically impossible without making it look like a 30 page long outline full of more randomness than a clown convention. I really don't want to just split it up into character/similiar scene profiles, and I know I can't use the books (as the divisions between each book are often right in the middle of a story, making them useless for organization) but... ARRGH. How the hell can this be done... -.- . Don't worry, come Monday it'll be part of your morning routine to see the next page, and each new page each day until Friday :P . It updates really fast, I just wish something was going on right now, then I'd really feel the anticipation and suspense. I.e., imagine if the copic stopped here when we caught up o_O.
