  1. That's called "paradoxical intention", according to logotherapy. Not that anyone cares :-w .
  2. We can probe and measure matter to the miniscule distance of a billionth of a billionth of a meter (or so I've read, we can probably measure even small objects nowadays since the book was published in 1999). So personally, I don't find the capability to measure temperatures as cold as this surprising. This seems sort of interesting, but I'd probably be more interested if anyone had a link that goes further into the explanation, 'cause the whole "wave and a particle at the same time" thing isn't really new or unheard of.

It's a great comic, but I don't think we need a whole thread for it ^_^'. There's a forum on the site, and I think I've calmed down for the most part on spamming the thread :P . .<'>
  4. Wait, what language is it in (and what's the phrase)? I might be able to translate it :| .

They're the grades mate. A in one subject, B in the other yadda yadda. Ah, that was my hunch, but at 4AM my brain doesn't function quite as well as it should :XD: .
  6. Heh, I change the text periodically, and I felt it was time for a change for the better :P .

ABB :-s ? Ya, my ignorance told me to ask someone to explain that for it. Stupid ignorance.
  8. "Starburst" >_<. Alchemy.
  9. Eh, I've played Select A soccer for over a decade, so it's more like I'm trying to get my upper body to catch up with my legs  (since that's all I used to train >_<). I mean, I can only bench like 120, I doubt I'd be "top, and front heavy" . My back muscles, like my leg muscles, are also far beyond my biceps, triceps and other upper body muscles as well, so again, it's more of catching up than anything, and it's really fixing my posture (I used to slouch a ton >_>). But still, he's right. If you only train upper body you will have those problems, so heed his warning and make sure to train all of your body, not just your upper portion :P .
  10. If you get bench press equipment in your home, it really isn't all that much work at all. Whenever I've got a free half hour me, my dad, and my little brother all work out, since I kind of need to bulk up before college :-w . We do curls, bench press, sit ups, dips (well, only me), and abs (mid air, pull your legs up parallel to the ground, 20 reps). It's really convenient; I often just go into the gym room randomly and do a few reps of whatever I want, or if I'm watching TV in there I'll do curls while I watch. I'd think that getting a gym membership would be a pain, and one probably wouldn't use it much, but when the equipment is convenient it's hard not to lift and work out :) . That being said... my little bro can only bench 70-75 right now (he's 12, but broad), but by the time he goes to college he'll be a third degree, maybe even fourth degree black belt who can bench 200+. Ya, I don't think he's going to have much trouble dealing with annoying people :-w .
  11. I don't think it's mostly for power; it seems more like he's trying to be the Paris Hilton of politics :-w .
  12. You do realise just how much teenage testosterone you set off on this forum sometimes don't you? ;D What, as a guy you don't ever do that? Ever? As Goddess said, "not to sound arrogant, but sometimes I do walk by the mirror and check myself out" as well :-w . Bad habit, especially after working out or getting a haircut >_<'. Futurama, it's not like she actually inputed any details or anything, so I don't see why a post like that would set off any testosterone :P .
  13. 4/10 + 5/10 for passing on the Alchemy chain :D , so 9/10 :P (three in a row, plus rpg gamer countering it in his sig! Huzzah!). Try reducing the size of the edit part of the sig, and try and make the text match an edit statement, just make the number big and the date believable, and people might actually think that you really did edit your post 10,000 times (though I'd do something like 20+, to make it more believable :P ).
  14. Actually, if you read further into it aspect of Ash's life are actually much better as a female, especially his relations with family (won't go into it for people who haven't read it). I really don't see where you're drawing that conclusion from, unless you're sayin' "permanently being turned into a girl stinks", and not that just being one does. God, I think I'm feeling a need to go read through it again and outline it ('cause I can't seem to be able to remember the proper sequence of events in the storyline). That, and I'm gunna mark all the pages when Em and Ash have their lil' moments  . Oy, guess my talking about misfile completely through this thread off course from the main topic : '. Whoops :-w . To try and stay On Topic... how would you guys (or girls) react if you were forced to change your gender permanently (by accident or otherwise. Everyone around you would think that you had always been a girl/guy, but you would still retain the same state of mind, just with different hormonal balances, like in Ash's case)? Would you try and keep your identity as your first known gender, or do you think you'd eventually cave in and try fully living life as the other gender?

Heck, even I have a Parkour thread buried somewhere in the OT  .
  16. Heh, I just finished (or, caught up anyways). trapical, I think it's [Edit] 767 pages long, so it'c closing in on 800. The url might say "794", but it seems to skip a number or two fairly often between pages (possibly from fixing errors on pages). It feels kind of short, 'cause unlike webcomics like Giant in the Playground's "Order of the Stick" ( http://www.giantitp.com , awesome webcomic based off of and mocking rpg games and Dungeons and Dragons :P . 481 pages currently), the pages read pretty fast, so the comic goes fast. Still awesome, especially with daily updates :) . Okay, I'll stop spamming the thread now :-w .
  17. You're quite the expert :P . If you don't mind, I've got a human biology question I hope you can answer : . For as long as I can remember, I've always had a weird reaction to tasting something I don't like. It doesn't happen everytime I eat something I hate, but it happens at least, say, 20% of the time, at least on the first bite of it. Basically, after ingesting something disgusting to my taste buds (and only after it's down my esophagus), my entire spine goes into a huge spasm. Not like the shivers, not like a miniscule jerk or reflex, I'm talking like a huge spasm, going straight up my spine. I didn't think much of it, speculating that it happens to everyone, but my dad noticed it once and asked me what I was doing, why I just jerked during my meal for no apparent reason. After explaining it, my entire family (three siblings, two parents) stated that none of them ever did it. It's obviously not a medical problem, just a weird reaction to food I dislike (i.e., I'm not worried about it, just curious. It's nothing big :P ). Any idea why it happens? I've hypthesized that the spasm is just experiencing the cringe that most people do from distasteful food, just throughout the body with a much larger reaction for some reason. That, or you may have already explained it in your last post :XD: . And as supplementary question, does this happen to anyone else? I still feel like I wouldn't be surprised if it did, even though it doesn't happen to anyone else in my family.
  18. Lol, wow man thats pretty impressive. I'm almost regretting admitting this, but since the comic was based on a theme I had been researching... I read all ~800 on the same day :uhh: But yea, I totally agree with what you said. The author is a genius in the way he presents the story. Before I read it and had heard it was ranked in the top 10 webcomics, I was really skeptical. But after reading it I am going to have to agree. I would even say it would make a really good movie if done right. As for Abstract? Abstract's story isn't nearly as polished and the site is less professional (several artists, updates 3x a week instead of 5, etc) but Abstract has a lot more random humor. Well, moving on... Ya, I had to work for 6 hours today, but I'm past 500 right now :-w . Such a genius comic, I seem to keep on reading in anticipation of another double blush seen between Ash and Em  . Those are the best, not because it's lez (cause it really isn't, and it's a comic for gods sake anyways) but because you want them to be a couple, but they never can >_<. Classic, and ingenious, plot technique >_<. I know, I totally came across this with a lot of the people I talked to. Pretty strange, but I think it might have to do with the fact that you would really want to experience the situation, get your money's worth so to say. After the whole anatomy thing got boring after a little while I think most guys would want to go to someplace like a mall and just walk around wearing really, really chick-like things. Clothes that a guy could never, ever wear. Why would you want to spend your few days as a girl wearing jeans and t-shirt when you could wear a skirt and a halter top, and in addition be able to show off your new found goods? I think this phenomenon is only true if the change is temporary though. I think if you actually went through a permanent change you would subconsciously dress more tomboy-ish. Me, I'd wear really tight jeans (or capris) and a tank top, mid drift probably, whether temporary or permanent. No idea why.
  19. I suppose, but you'd be equal in skill to what, tens of thousands of other chefs  ?
  20. Really? I'd do it more for the enlarging of my own perspective towards the world, 'cause looking at your own body can only interest you for so long :P . I mean, for two weeks you'd come to understand the female more than you could in years, no... decades of trying to understand them from within a male body. That, and I really don't have anything to hide or any worries about a female being in my body (other than her not getting me fired...), so I don't really see any setbacks to it beyond adjusting :P . Oh, and I'm at like page 400 of Misfile now  . Thank god Chris made Ash, the protaganist, look androgynous; if he (or she...) wasn't it'd be near impossible thinking of him as anything but female (which would take a lot away from the comic). That, and it's nice that he looks androgynous for his relationship with Emily, such a cute little couple :P . The scenario makes it very interesting for them to try and get together, which really helps the story a great deal.
  21. I'll admit the responses were a little... harsh and immature, but the only reason I felt they were even slightly justified was the fact that Mountdoom's opinion is, according to nearly all data known to man, wrong. There was no point in even debating the matter. Though, rather than be nice about responding and replying calmly, forumers here do tend to shove it in people's faces a little too much, so I'll agree with you on that. Basically, if you understand that discrimination is in no way inherently "wrong", then we have nothing to disagree on here :P . No posts on this thread merit any form of flaming or harsh responses, so there really was no need to attack Mountdoom. They were just being blunt and terse is all :-w . Bro, care to watch some homosexual porn involving two guys? If you turn away you're a homophobe. Not...really. You're just not a fan of watching two guys doing it o_O. I s'pose one would be a homophobe to some degree if they cringe when watching stuff like that, but it's nowhere near the level that the word "homophobic" is used in society, not even close. They'd have to actually be scared of being around gay people entirely for one to be called a homophobe, at least in my book.
  22. No. Look up the word discrimination, it's not "wrong" or "evil". It's just using logic and subjective knowledge. For example, choosing to eat a healthy apple over a poisonous one is technically discrimination, as you are choosing between the two which one is better to eat. Now, are you going to tell me it's wrong that I discriminated between the two apples? Or that it was logical? The same thing goes for debates- we're discriminating between points that we find logical and ones we find illogical, and thus offering counterarguments for those posts we find to be ill informed. It's discriminiation in that we are dividing and choosing based on subjective knowledge. Now, you're probably thinking of prejudice and racism when you think of "wrong" discrimination, which are, unlike discrimination, illogical and frowned upon. It's a common mistake (as they, being prejudice and racism, stem from initial illogical discrimination), so there's no real harm done :P . Just hope you understand. So, that's what I mean by the fact that it's not "wrong" to inform Mountdoom that his opinion is ill informed and needs revamping, that's all :P .
  23. Ha, cool. Might I ask which one, Misfile or Abstract Gender? Misfile :P . I'll check out Abstract later I think.
  24. Not like editing your post is going to change your opinion on this. Please, read warri0r's post on the science of the matter. I'd go into the ehthical points about people killing themselves over being homosexual, or being killed for being homosexual, but if you can't accept the clear hard data and facts, you definitely won't accept any anecdotes about homosexuals suffering for their sexual preference that I have to show you. Defender, there's nothing wrong with "discriminating against someone's personal view" if that personal view is blatantly and pathetically wrong. If we didn't, no one would ever learn anything, you know? Whether it's nature or nurture, people come to have a set sexual preference before they're consciously able to choose it. Though, what are your reasons for finding homosexuality "wrong", other than your religion?
  25. I dunno about switching genders, but that's a damn good webcomic : . Did over 100 pages in one sitting, very addicting, great story :-w .
