Girls: The Mystery of Man
Hehe. Someone's worked up about a certain thread. More like certain "threads" This is the second one today... :wall: Exactly. This thread is pretty tame compared to your retort :P ; most of your aggression seems to come from the other thread. Honestly, women have always been a conundrum to men, it's nothing new, and it will always be this way. We just have to accept it iz all :P .

The beauty of women
Okay, at first I was just thinking you were over hormonly driven, but that's just wrong, in both senses of the word :| . Men don't have hearts and souls now? Men can't embrace others in a kind manner? All men are proud and arrogant? Seriously, is your mom an ultra feminist or something? How could you be raised to think these things? Ah yes, and girls are definitely better friends than guys; my sisters go through a new best friend every few months dude.

The bible
jona, I believe I got confused on the extra lines for mothers in the generations, so you're right on those :P . My point still stands nonetheless that the Bible does contain errors, which was the point I was making in regards to your opinion that my first source didn't have any errors/contradictions. The Bible is not perfect, no matter how wise it's words are. Just a intresting thought here.. its amazing that when its religion vs non-religious, its always the agnostic or athiests who would defend themselfs with evolution theories. Amazing they would point and try to use their own logic vs Christanity when their own self defense is not even pure fact yet. I suggest attacking evolution, but then they would just probably scamper and run behind a new theory. ~Defender~ What is with you guys and pairing atheists with evolution? I've referenced this point way too many times, but I guess I have to use it again for you guys to get it- my AP Biology teacher this year was a fundamentalist Christian. He taught us everything about the body, and systems, and most importantly, about evolution. He is one of the most devout Christians I know (we prayed for the first five minutes of every class) and he believes that evolution and the structure of the universe work through the power of God. He believes that God created us all, but that doesn't mean he's going to deny the mountains of evidence for the theory of evolution. What's wrong with being like a guy like him, someone who believes in God as a creator, but still looks at the empirical evidence for phenomena in our world? Why can't you guys look at the world while looking at God at the same time, instead of keeping your heads in the clouds? This isn't logic vs. Christianity Defender. This is just logic. We are not attacking Christianity, we are merely defending the theory of evolution. And Defender, go check warri0r's links in one of his posts for your "it's just a theory" comment, m'kay?

The Human Body and its Responses
Dang, I thought you were going to bore us with the [simple :-w ] process of neurons, but that's pretty interesting. So now I know why someone can have faster reflexes, and now I understand why EKG's are useful  >_<. I'd like to say I have fast reflexes (mine are the fastest in my family, but I'm the closest to my prime at 17, so I have an unfair advantage physically), but I'm sure everyone thinks they have fast reflexes, just like how everyone thinks they own at combat until they get into a fight :-w .

Why can't America view gaming like Korea.
Nah, you're right, it's wasted time, going for pro-anything is gonna almost always gonna be wasted time. I'm not saying going for a pro-gaming career is smart, it's way too slim a chance. For the love of God, going for the pro in a sport doesn't interfere with your life (and if it did, you'd be one hell of a dedicated person), it only makes you stronger. Gaming does not. So no, going for pro in sports is not wasted time. Hell yes it does. I think you misunderstood me. Are you saying it's good to aim for being a pro-athlete? Yeah, it keeps you fit, but what if you fail? It's the same situation as you stated with pro-gaming, wasted time. I doubt you could use your amazing battign kills to land a job as a lawyer. :| Yes, it is good to aim for being a pro-athlete, even if you don't make it (awesome if you do). As I already stated, athletes tend to have higher levels of dedication and determination thanks to all the training and hardships they endure, on top of being fit and tough. You don't endure hardships and pain in video games- you just waste time. I can't fully understand this, are you seriously saying that time spent gaming is just as valuable as time spent on the field? Give me a frikking argument for that, 'cause I right now I can not percieve it as anything but a risible, ludicrous stance. Pertaining to your future, yes it is. You haven't posted a single coherent argument to the contrary. Stop telling me that you think you've learned something, and tell me what you've learned. Examples please, I haven't seen a single one yet. Supply and demand is common sense. I hate when people talk like they understand economics just because they've heard of supply and demand- a two year old could understand the concept. You did not learn how sensitive the real world economy could be, both because the real world is unlike the game in every imaginable way, and because the Runescape economy never went under any disturbances that could damage it, ever, just price fluctuations. And the differences between the two economies are innumerable. You don't see any corporations in Runescape, do you? How 'bout interest rates? A stock market? You can't even begin to compare Runescape to the real world- they're two completely different entities dude. And for the record, what's pathetic is trying to justify gaming instead of just playing it, not that you got a history lesson from it ("hey, I learned what a battle ax is!"). I'll admit that me being fit had nothing to do with the games, but it did make me smarter, and I stand by that and will continue to. You didn't give me any proof about how gaming didn't help me get smarter, you were just like "No, it didn't". :? Then, please tell me, put me in my place, what have you learned about life from playing Metroid and Megaman?

The bible
Stop fabricating responses. Take #1, where you say that the writer of the primary article needs to count. Go back, and check your Bible at least. I checked my own to see if you had a point, and you don't. Matthew 1:2 does in fact list 13 generations inbetween Abraham and David, and Matthew 1:17 clearly says fourteen generations. Checked #14 as well, same thing. You didn't even bother to check, did you? And your response #13 is wrong. If you knew anything about history, or weren't completely biased towards the bible being an absolute truth, you'd know (or admit) that they were patriarchal societies. Good job trying to dodge the bullet, it hit you straight through the skull. As for your response to #19, I checked them both myself. Matthew does indeed say "two blind man", while Luke says "a certain blind man", i.e., singular. Your response to #31, which you referenced back to #19, is also incorrect. John mentions "two angels in white", and Mark mentions "a young man in a white robe" I'd go on, but of the few responses I've checked (I don't have all day for this), you've fabricated an answer every time, just to fill up space and feign a mein of having an idea what you are talking about. I'm getting really pissed off having to check out your own arguments, rather than accepting them and making my own. You keep posting fallacy after fallacy after fallacy, and it's just getting irritating and wasting time. If you think you're right, make a proper argument with valid points. If not, then keep doing what you're doing, 'cause it sure as hell isn't helping you. Cute. A Biblical threat. Points for being original. And hey, there are plenty of Bible fanatics running around, so why are you offended by the fact that there are actually people in the world to keep them in check, by examining the Bible without a bias of everything having to be true? I never said I believed God does not exist, and that has nothing to do with the argument anyways. I'm agnostic, and that changes what exactly? Is it just me, or is this the kind of end to a creationists arguments that I've seen before? I'm feeling a bit of deja vu...

Why can't America view gaming like Korea.
Beside the point? Don't try and hide the humongous flaw in your argument- playing sports not only trains the body, but it makes people more dedicated, determined, and persevering. Sure, not everyone goes pro, but they still never lose the valuable lessons they gained from playing the sport. Gaming... er... no. Just no. You try and go pro, and you fail, and everything you've done trying to go pro was a total waste of time. Trying to be a pro gamer is pathetic, trying to be a pro in a sport is not. Do you have a single coherent argument to the contrary? Hell yes it does. Gaming is worthless. It's fun and entertaining, but c'mon, don't bother trying to argue that playing Kingdom Hearts at two in the morning is just as good as training all day at summer Football camp. Wrong. You are not smarter because of gaming. You are smarter because of dedication to school and learning. That's just pathetic. Gaming doesn't help you, so stop acting like it does, and move on. Oh, and you think you're learning about economy by playing a certain MMORPG? Think again. The economy in that game is completely and utterly different than the real world economy, i.e. it's absolutely worthless knowledge in the real world. Unless, of course, you're about to take a trip to the Middle East to go test your haggling skills. You are fit and smart in spite of playing games, not because of playing games, genius. Ah, now I feel nostalgic of all the arguments with people trying to justify Runescape as educational and good for you... good times, good times.

The bible
The earliest known copy of the new testament is at 50 AD. Jesus was born at 0. He grew to be 33 years old... that leaves only 20 years between Jesus' resurrection and the complete finishing of the bible. Okay, that's complete BS and you know it. Every source I've ever read, everything I've ever learned in Scripture classes, points towards the contrary. Cite your sources please, not your own personal made-up points. Fine, I'll give you yet another source that shows your making this crap up: Read through it, then come back with evidence explaining why you believe the ealiest copy of the New Testament was completed in 50 AD. Source. :-s Where exactly are you going with this? Quite sorry for not understanding the point you're making :| . Technically speaking, everyone who knew Jesus, or who was even alive at the same time he was, was already long-since dead by the time the Gospels were put together. Hell, the grandchildren of the people who were alive at the same time as Jesus were already dead. As I have explained above, BS. Not really. Note that he 'forgets' to mention any one of these supposedly many flaws in the bible *sarcasm* Great counterargument, I must say. You must have been up all night thinking up that one. Fine, here's a small handful for ya, since you're so eager to learn: Source.

The beauty of women
Maybe some, though my post was more of a point of how the idealism (and ignorance) in the first post seems almost like an objectifaction of women ("creatures, exotic, er... private parts"). I know it wasn't the intention (I think), but I just got a very strong whiff of objectification from the post. Honestly, no one else cringed while reading that? Then again, I'm not exactly a fan of feminists, so... ya.

The bible
Ehm... lol? I'm surprissed you would say that, the authenticity of litterature is defined by differences bettween current articles and older articles. By using this information combined with the fact that letters exist between first century persons which prove the bibles authenticity. Compared to the bible, all greek litterature pales. I'm not saying ancient greece did not exist, it did. Even the bible agrees with that :) That still doesn't make the Bible true, it just means that the current copies retain what the Bible says at a higher ratio than some other pieces of literature. Oi... okay, you want to talk authenticity? Fine. Take the New Testament, the Gospels to be specific. When Jesus died, it's not exactly like four of his disciples instantly sat down and wrote out the Gospels right there, no, they were too busy spreading his word across the Meditteranean. Thus, as they spread his word, stories about Jesus spread all over the known world. This was the primary method of passing stories along through generations at the time- oral communication. Thus, the stories went through filter after filter that were the story tellers. It was not until a generations later that the stories were eventually written down, that is after they had been polluted and warped by the passers of the oral tradition. Technically speaking, everyone who knew Jesus, or who was even alive at the same time he was, was already long-since dead by the time the Gospels were put together. Hell, the grandchildren of the people who were alive at the same time as Jesus were already dead. How's that for authentic? Source.

Orignal RuneScape Usernames
God, I freaked out the first time I saw him (lost my pic of him on my laptop thanks to a memory wipe). As soon as I saw him I thought, "Holy crap, is that an NPC? Guess not.. o_O." Great username. With all the usernames being taken by players on this thread, I wonder if there'll even be any usernames left by next year. Heck, I bet a random combination username generator won't be able to find a single remaining one within a year :| . EDIT: Oh, and No Hablo Espanol, but based on my knowledge of Latin I'd guess that means "Are you sad?" (Spanish is a Romance language, so it's easier to figure out stuff from knowing the root language :-w ).

jon, stop pulling information out of your [wagon], and show us some real sources for these pieces of crud you call arguments. warri0r has already shown that our methods of dating are pretty accurate. Is this the only piece of counter rhetoric that you can think of? Wow. You're deluded. Are you trying to tell me you've got arguments now that say ancient greece never existed? Please, humor us. Again, wow. You're basing the validity of something on how many copies of it there are in existence? Again, your moronic side is showing. Source. Valid, source. Heh... I'm almost tempted to ask this guy to watch zeitgeist... almost. First source: wikipedia. Strike one. No, most of the time they just leave because their opponent is as close-minded as they come. You heard this... where? Seriously, I'd love to see where you're pulling all this "information". Not even gunna ask. Okay fine. What the hell is the point you're making? Again, this makes the Bible true how?

Attention...Recognition and Lies, Which+Why do YOU Seek it?
Because Goobore repeatedly says that he "never" feels joy from getting a complement, or that he "never" seeks attention (whether subconsciously or consciously) in the game, after playing for years. In fact, seeking attention isn't necessarily a fault, as you stated, which is why I further don't understand why Goobore says that he's never done it in years of playing a multi-player, world wide game.

Attention...Recognition and Lies, Which+Why do YOU Seek it?
~ Drum, he's right. People can recieve attention that they don't seek. The list gives a fairly obvious impression of a dogmatic god complex, which is why you got a fair number of responses regarding it as such. Maybe rephrase your post in a way that it doesn't appear that you think you're always the one that's right, so as to avoid confusion. Ah, but you are interacting with that "flesh and blood" person purely within the context of the RS world. If I acted in a manner to impress player X with my skill set and gear then I could even bump into X in the donut line at Wal-Mart and neither of us would ever know that we were "that other guy" in Rs. Most of us know (in real life) only a few of the 2000 players on a world server. So, most of the time, the "impressing" that we do in the RS world doesn't carry over into the real world. Now, if you are talking about a small group of school or neighborhood friends, then things are a little different. Most likely any attempt to impress people would be subconscious, but it happens to everyone >_<. Again, as I stated earlier, I, like nearly all people, am not a racist, but I can have subconscious thoughts that would lead to decisions in which I would prefer those of my own group. In the same way you may seem to never be a player who tries to impress people, but subconsciously events might take place that would involve you impressing others and feeling good about your accomplishments by their praise. Sigh... Personal attacks? No, just a statement of what appeared to be a twisting of my words to change the subject, even though it was only miscommunication (which you did use to affront me in your reference to "#5", mind you). Though, it's almost as if you're trying to twist my words to fit into your little list, which they're not :| . In the same way you referenced #5- you thought I changed the subject, but I did not, it was merely a miscommunication. I also have not made a single typo thusfar, nor have I resorted to personal attacks. Stop trying to twist my rebuttals to fit into your little list, and just debate. But clearly, we don't have the best communication here. Nope, no we don't >_<. Maturity, maybe? Life experiences, perhaps? A sense of perspective. After all this is just a (kinda) silly computer game that many of us play for a bit of fun. Yes, but never? I find that hard to believe, no offense. Myself, I never played to impress people, but I had more than my share of occasions where it felt good to impress players (mainly via Magic, as that was the only real strength I had in the game in matters of both skills and items). You can honestly tell me you've never, ever, had an impulse or a great feeling from impressing other players, from getting attention or being the center of the crowd? Whether or not you see them in real life, they are still people. People that I don't know and might not ever interact with again. So, Why would I care what they think? On the conscious level you probably care very little, but they are still people behind those screens, and you can't honestly tell me you don't care what people think about you. Of course. But in a MMORPG, your bound to find yourself impressing some players (especially after playing for a decent amount of time), and I doubt you always shrug off complements like you think they don't matter. A complement is a complement, and I don't think there's a single ego in the history of mankind that wouldn't care about them. Eh, see above :| . Why not? He may not be affected by it all that much, but it's still a complement. Yes, but again, no one's perfect. Me, I consciously didn't care when I played the game what players thought about my character, 'cause if I did I'd actually have skilled once in a while, or done quests, or things that bored me to improve my character. I did what I thought was fun: DK'ing, playing CW, defeating big monsters, everything that encompassed a challenge. But through all my apathy towards people's opinions of my characters low total and weaknesses, I still felt joy from complements to my character. Whether it be DK'ing skills, or my Magic Level, or just the items I was wearing, subconsciously complements always made me feel good inside. I still fail to understand how you can be completely uncaring about complements. Maybe I never will, 'cause it's such an impossible concept to understand.

Attention...Recognition and Lies, Which+Why do YOU Seek it?
Okay, you really need to delete that God complex list Goobore. You've made good points so far, but you just randomly threw in that dogmatic list for absolutely no reason, and it's really just getting on everyone's nerves. No one is always right, not you, not I, not anyone. No one here is flaming you, no one here is angry. We're here to have a simple debate, that's all. I'm pretty sure everyone would agree that there's no point in that list being on this thread, so, if you could, delete it so we can have a debate where we actually learn from each other. Moving on: That's completely denying human nature :| . No, not at all. I don't really care what RS players think but I do care what the general population thinks (real world people). Within the framework of the RS world we interact as fighters, rangers, magicians, crafters, buyers, sellers, etc. That's totally different from standing in line behind some guy at Wal-Mart to buy a donut. You are mixing up game avatars with flesh and blood people. But there are "flesh and blood" people behind those game avatars. Go with raylife's argument on this one, that just kind of fails :| . The context of this discussion is, essentially, do we play to impress people. "People", in this case meant other RS players within the RS world. Somewhere along the line it looks like "People" has expanded to include "real world" people as well. (See point #5 in a previous post) So, in case my position is not clear, then I'll clarify it. I don't play to impress other RS players within the RS world. I feel no compulsion at all to try and influence the thoughts or attitudes of other RS players. I feel this way because I have a very full life outside of RS and my experiences in real life have helped me to understand that RS is just a minor game. So using the word "never" in regard to the RS would be appropriate. However, for "real world" events and interactions with family, friends, neighbors, classmates, etc; then obviously I use a different standard. In that case, I do care and I act accordingly. The issue under discussion here (from the original post) involves RS avatars, not real world interactions. I shortened the quoted phrase for my points sake, now I see it was mistake to do that, as you completely avoided the issue and jumped all over that technicality (which you greatly stretched in thinking that me saying "people" had to mean I had left the realm of Runescape players, who are in fact people). Fine, if you need me to change the phrasing so you can't find a loophole around it, I'll fix it to the full phrasing: I am still talking about Runescape players, not the real world, when I refer to your using of the term "never". Stop avoiding the issue with insults and technicalities, and tell me why you think one would never, in years of playing this game, feel a compulsion to at least slightly impress players, who are, if you do not understand, real people (if only across a screen). You're still interacting with people. And I know you don't play to impress people in the game, but if you've played for any substantial amount of time, there's been at least a small handful of times where you felt good about impressing players with high stats, good items, or any Runescape related obtainable of the sort. It's statements like this that I feel are blatantly incorrect: You're talking in absolute negatives, like you think you're Jesus or something, someone free of all temptation and sin. Let me get this through your head: Nobody is perfect. You may not play to impress people, I both believe and respect that, but you can not say that you've never made a social fault in all your time of playing.
