School schedule and class discussion for 2007-08!
I must say this for everyone to hear. HolyMotherofGodwegotothesameschoolandwe'reinthesameJavaclass. Currently, I have seen your face before, but I do not know which Sophmore in the class you are. Anyone want to help me redefine the phrase "small world"?

!Bengal Fan Topic!
Okay, this forum pretty much encompasses people from all over the world, and two of the few people who actually live in the one city this thread refers to don't even care about the topic. Meh, 'tis funny to me :-w .

the wonderful world of...anime
It's not really "full of mystery" per se... you know what everyone character's thinking, so there isn't much guessing/"mystery" on the reader/viewers part. Here's a good synopsis from a Death Note site (one of the ones I used to download a few eps; Youtube sucks for watching anime :-w ): It's pretty short- only thirty seven episodes, but it's damn good.

Me too. Though, I don't care for being a spectator. At all. Good luck trying to get a thread discussion out of this Bobby :-w .

While We're On Religious Topics...
But the problem with that logic is that this isn't about completely changing someone's belief system- it's just about helping people become well informed, understanding, and knowledgable about the topic at hand. Of course I'm never going to switch over to Hinduism any time in my life. Doesn't mean I'm not interested about what the religion has to say about how to live our one and only lives, and how they percieve the supernatural. It's not going in a circle, it's a back-and-forth conversation in which each party informs the other party of what they believe and understand, thus expanding the worldview of those they're speaking with. Learning is a good thing dude :-$ .

A Shrinking Universe
:-k It's possible. But then again, we're not entirely sure what set off the big bang in the first place, so it could be hard to compare the two.
-
A Shrinking Universe
Oh yeah I read that as well, something like there can't be any infinitely tiny singularities because how small something can be is limited by the strings themselves? Yah, it's weird, but once the universe tries to contract beyond the Planck length, the strings start giving off inverse energies. There's like a whole chapter on it, and I had to read it twice to get it... but basically, according to the normal and uniform motions of strings and the energy they give off, a universe of radius 1/R has precisely the same physical properties as a universe of radius R. Ya, it's very weird. So, once the universe starts trying to shrink past the Planck length, it start expanding instead of contracting :P .
-
A Shrinking Universe
Yes. The universe would require an average of four hydrogen atoms per cubic meter to get enough gravitational pull to start contracting, and as surprising as it may seem to some living in a matter infested Solar System, the universe isn't even close to that. And as for the "shrink into nothingness" matter, String Theory predicts that that's impossible. According to the theory, the smallest the universe could get to is the Planck length. Not that String Theory is fully established or anything, just sayin' :P .

the wonderful world of...anime
Oh Dear Lord... you know those anime kids, who watch it so much that they pick up a few Japanese words (me included)? And then, all of a sudden, they start spouting them out randomly... like they think they're cool for it, or think they're Japanese. And I swear, I'm going to snap the next time I hear a fan-girl say, "That's so KAWAII!". Ack -.- .

Theres a leak in the universe...
You have a right to state your opinion, yes, but opinions backed up by reasoning generally have longer life spans :-s . Just sayin'.

Evolution in public schools
:-s Read through the thread. I think the answer to your post appears at least four times on every page. Common usage of theory =/= Scientific theory. I swear, the scientific community needs to think of a new word, or at least the English part (in hopes that other languages are smart enough to make a verbal distinction between the two meanings). Using "theory" just causes pointless problems -.- .

the wonderful world of...anime
:o Lurker pops up for the anime thread :P . I'd have agree with most the above statements. Naruto isn't great, and yes, 4kids did [bleep] up One Piece. Inuyasha isn't unbearably repetitive. Dragonball Z was pretty good though (pretty much the anime of my childhood :o), but GT sucked completely. NGE got pretty weird at times, but it was definitely good. Death Note was provative- it really tested one's mental abilities, and it added a whole new twist to the idea of a true protaganist. Bleach seems a little overrated, even though I love it; it's big mainly because of the style of fighting in the show (Byakuya vs. Ichigo coming up on Adult Swim :o! Ya'll are guna love that fight). I mean, the fight scenes are some of the best in all of anime... but it compensates a lot for the very slow plot. GITS was a sweet show, like a much cooler version of futuristic novels put into anime/manga format. Really tested one's understanding of the ethical dilemmas and boundaries we're bound to cross in the future, and it was a much more intellectual show. I've tried getting into Blood+ as well, but it gets pretty dull, personally. FMA, well, don't even think I need to talk about that, kind of a given  . 'Kay, think I'm done; it takes enough time just examining the already dubbed animes :XD: .

the wonderful world of...anime
Apparently you havn't heard of Death Note :P . I'll agree though, watching Japanese culture does get a little repetitive after a while, and the "good hearted, cooky, yet serious inside" protaganist does get a bit overused (Trinity Blood being the perfect example of the sheer worst possible usage of the motif, god that priest was repetitive and generic). Still, lota animes are pretty dang good :-w \/.

:-s Yes, that's what I said: I don't get what you're responding too :-s . Are you just reiterating the point?

Something I said?
Hehe, someone reported this. I think I'm finally beginning to understand what older members of this forum mean when they say that the fluctuations of this forum are predictable. First there's a decent sized hiatus from religion/science topics, then a bunch pop up (in a two day time span or so), everyone gets interested and shoots these threads up to a couple pages in a few hours, and then there's an abrupt bandwagon backlash against science/religion topics. I feel like I've seen this pattern before. Deja vu.

Misfile
 You would say that :P . Though, you were right last time... ack, now I'm almost considering that hypothesis viable :wall: o_O. I'm almost starting to agree with you guys about the "wait a few days" method thing :| . I think I'll test it next week, wait until Wednesday, or maybe even Friday, to read a few pages. Who knows, I might remember everything perfectly after a week's hiatus, and it might make it more enjoyable. Still, the one-a-day method is nice, since it allows the reader to choose between reading one a day, or waiting as long as they want to read a couple pages at a time  . As for the outline... motif ideas would be nice (got like half of the amount I hope for), and I've explicated almost half of the comic, simply dividing it into respecitive scenes. Schoolwork was a pain this week... but I've got more free time this weekend, so I'm going to finish the rough draft. By simply listing the scenes and their respective page numbers, and listing the pages for motifs in lists under each one (i.e., it's not integrated into the outline currently) I have plenty of wiggle room for deciding a full organizational method. I want someone to be able to just glance at this and be able to find what they need or want to in the comic :P .

My issues with Athiests.
I'm sorry, your proof? Allow myself to clarify. Merely questioning someone's argument isn't "bashing" it. Dismissing it without considering it is. The fact is Atheism and religion run counter to each other. It will always be a fairly frictional confrontation when the two parties debate their own beliefs with each other, since essentially, neither party has proof to disprove the other person's theory. I myself keep an open mind. I don't know any better than anyone else who's right. I'm not religious, but I don't refuse to accept a God may exist either. I've been an atheist, I'm technically a form of atheist now, and of course we've bashed religion. Some ignorantly bash it, some find the idea of blind faith risible and can't really get beyond that, and some just avoid it entirely. It's practically a given that plenty of atheists "bash" religion, especially those who reject it without fully understanding it. And that's just weak atheism. Don't get me started on strong atheism. I mean, I myself love learning about religion. I'm even taking a World Religions course right now at my high school. But even when educated about world religions, I still can't help but giggle a little bit at the dogmatic sides of each one. Faith, it's just... funny. That's the only way I can put it. Ginger, Shadow is right- give it time, let atheism get bigger, and a dogmatic atheist attitude will permeate throughout society, and it's not going to be pretty. No offense to atheism of course, not like I'm trying to insult myself here :P . Basically, the bigger a bandwagon gets, the more idiots it can fit on it. Happens to anything that gets big :-$ .
