I'm agreeing with you more or less. But yes, I suppose I'm also saying that some people shouldn't try too hard to be someone they're not. Improvement is good. Building confidence is good. Trying to do a complete 180 on who you are, however, may not always be a well thought out plan. Just depends on the person.
