The Majority of Rune Armour and Weapons?
polybren replied to Tbfgraphx14's topic in General Discussion
Well, I'm pretty sure that rune kites, at least, are all coming from smithers. I don't recall ever getting a normal rune kite from a clue scroll. Plus are there any monsters out there drop a lot of rune kites? -
A better title for this topic would have been "Granite prices falling like a rock." I've been camped out at the granite rocks for the past few weeks working toward 99 mining. Now, with this new update the place is suddenly crowded with people trying to make a quick buck (via junk trades most likely). Personally, I can't wait for the price to finally bottom out so that the crowds will just leave. The other thing that's interesting here is that you can't sell any of the granite to the general store nor can you high alch it. In both cases you get zero gp. I guess Jagex is actaually smart enough in this case to let the market dictate a reasonable price before letting you sell or alch.

Just finished a 74 Skeletal Wyveren task. My advice is to range them using an xbow with an elemental shield equipped. I did that an never had to leave once. I simply stepped back out of the range of the "icey breath" and slapped on prot from range when needed. Worked like a charm.

How about when Jagex had it's last actual holiday "drop." The Scythe was originally dropped on Halloween 2003 during optimum times for UK based players. Unfortuantely, when it was dropped the majority of North American based players weren't on and missed out. This led to a huge number of complaints and instead of Jagex saying "tough luck, you knew when we were dropping them so you should have been on" they relented and dropped the Scythes again a few days later. Of course this ultimately led to no drops at all for the next few holidays (they were tired of people complaining) and finally resulted in the way they simply hand out holiday items now. So pat yourself on the back and call yourself old school if you actually got a Scythe on Halloween. :D

Has Construction been left in the Sawdust?

How about something as simple as a jewlery box in your bedroom? Would be nice to finally have some place to store all those assorted rings, ammys, bracelets, necklaces, etc.... -
Well, that explains why items like Rune Battle Axes and 2HD swords haven't dropped in price any more. They are both already at the high alch + price of a nature rune limit. Still free mage exp, just don't expect to make a profit....

I guess that is assuming they survive. I'd imagine you borrow the skill level to plant it, but not the higher ability to keep it alive. I know it sounds funny, but there is no relation that I've ever seen between your Farming level and keeping your crops alive. It's not like cooking, where you reach a ceratin level and finally stop burining things. Herbs still die on me all the time, yes even at 99. The only thing your skill level does is allow you to "plant" certain items....

Can anyone confirm who gets the exp from Farming when you actually "harvest" your crops. I know the person who assists you gets the exp when you plant, but what about harvesting? Might be a fast way for low level farmers to gain a few quick levels from picking Torstol, Watermelons, etc....

Thieving is a favorite stat of mine. In fact, it was my very first 99 and I used to be #1 in the high scores. I got 99 back in classic by thieving Paladins but now, with pyramid plunder, it's just way too easy to get. Still the cape looks cool even if the emote is lame. The only thing I ever use thief for now is just to pickpocket the occasional seed from the farmer. I agree, Jagex should really look at adding a few new updates for thief.

The "problem" that I see with the current holiday items is not that they aren't tradeable but instead that they are all just too darn easy to get. They are given out for like 2 weeks straight. Why don't they simply add one to everyone's bank instead and call it a day? I still remember planning to stay up late for the Scythe drops and wondering if I would actually get one. These were orginally dropped during the best times for UK based players (makes sense). So, I being a USA based player had to adjust my sleep schedule a bit to make sure I was on when they were dropped. I still remember seeing that pop up message saying that they had been dropped and running around frantically trying to find one. When I finally was able to claim one it came with a sense of accomplishment that, yes, I had one. Of course, even this proved to be too much for many players based outside of the UK. If memory recalls, enough people complained about not getting a Scythe drop that Jagex relented and dropped them again and again over the next few days (even though they didn't have to). The Scythe (like the bunny ears) is not tradeable, but I'm still happy that I have one. So to me it's not the fact that I can make GP off of it, etc. It's just the fact that it was a challenging drop to get.....

Are your Herbs taking longer then 75mins to grow? ~Study~
polybren replied to wolfmon56's topic in General Discussion
I just finished 99 Farming about a month ago. I took me exactly 75 days to go from level 88 to 99. Each day I planted 15 Maples, 4 Pineapples and 1 Calquat (plus the allotments, bushes, etc, etc). I can most definitely attest to the fact that growing times for ALL of the trees (fruit or otherwise) are completely random. Maples would usually grow in about 5 hrs but often would take 6 or 7 hrs to grow. Same with the Pineapple trees. I would plant them all at (about) the same time and they all grew at different rates. The Calquat tree was the same. I would plant it in the morning, check it 24 hrs later and sometimes it would be grown and sometimes it wouldn't. Bottom line for trees is that there is NO SET TIME that they grow in. In fact, JAGEX even removed the tree growing times from the KB. -
For me personally, definitely farming. I'm trying to get 99 right now and it's very frustrating because you can only train it so much each day (you have to wait for everything to grow). I think this is the only RS skill like this. A real pain to train especially if you have no patience :wall:

Does anyone actually care about 99 firemaking?
polybren replied to antonwhy's topic in General Discussion
I like the color. Nice and bright :) I'll get it for that reason alone... -
Use it on a range to make soda ash. Just like seaweed...
