  1. As for the exp weekend.... I like them. Honestly, I think it's good to have then every now and then. It messes with the economy, but....eh. I can live with it, I guess. I think the trick is to limit them enough. Even 2 a year seems a little high to me.... but I think they SHOULD do at least 1 per year. As for name-changing, I think the whole problem is you can change them once a month. I don't think a perm-limit on them is a good idea, but rather extend the cycle. Say, every 6 months or so. Give the player a month where their old name is reserved, and allow them to change it back to the old name at any time; after that, they can still try to change back providing no one has taken their old name. Frankly, I was one of the people who switched the day it came out (or maybe a couple days later, point is I changed pretty much asap) but I haven't changed it since. I think once a month is too often as people like to change it just for [cabbage]s and giggles. Also, I think people who choose offensive usernames should love the ability to change it for at least a year (ignoring the forced change from the offensive name.)
  2. On the one hand, I think they should haul it back, the risk of hauling it back is part of pk'ing (and what if you just took an imp box for statuettes or whatever - if loot DID get banked, it'd only be those...) On the other hand, I'm not a pk'er. So my opinion doesn't count for as much.
  3. I've read almost everyone I've come across - the ones I skip are manuals. I like reading, and I like lore. I sometimes skip books in other video games 'cause they're too damn long for me o.O
  4. And range is more effective. Because it's easier to use. That only makes melee better against the things you are supposed to be melee'ing. This is fairly poor logic. Most people don't mage because mage takes a bit longer to get started up than it does melee. Whereas you just bind a melee weapon and are good to go, you have to make make runes to mage with. For most people, that's unappealing, so they take the road quite frequently traveled. Only if you try to mage high level necromancers, books and mages. But that's when you switch to range. Damage wise, berserker can't compete with blazer, because berserker increases your strength level which indirectly leads to higher hits, while blazer is an extra 50% damage on whatever you hit whenever it activates. All it takes is one magic based NPC. In the same vein that no melee weapon deserves a bind as you can just buy a novite hatchet from the smuggler and use that. Remember, I said low defense, not no range defense. Popular doesn't make it best. A hood is situational, and gets you hit less so long as there aren't any mage-based monsters around. It doesn't make you more effective versus monsters, though, which is what I deem important. A sag short + sniper and a celestial catalytic + blazer will go a lot further than a hood and any melee weapon will, as a hood + a melee weapon makes you one dimensional. Except, unlike range/melee, you don't need a staff to mage with. It's easier to just melee most things - the few things that require mage imo, like primal warriors, have such low mage def that you don't really need the staff. I actually tried just maging there, too much of a pain, plus you can't really START out maging since you won't have enough runes. I usually just make a few for high level warriors.
  5. Oh, I loved that fletching cape, and still like it. To me, people wearing a skillcape aren't half as pretentious as people who go around sayingthey are "Pure f2p" or that they started in classic, or those who said BEW cheapened their accomplishments (Although these people simply didn't want to get their highscores spots taken). All that elitism, that's part of RS. Skillcapes look pretty nice and add some diversity to RS. I don't see why people wearing them should bother you. What the hell is BEW? Oh, I loved that fletching cape, and still like it. To me, people wearing a skillcape aren't half as pretentious as people who go around sayingthey are "Pure f2p" or that they started in classic, or those who said BEW cheapened their accomplishments (Although these people simply didn't want to get their highscores spots taken). All that elitism, that's part of RS. Skillcapes look pretty nice and add some diversity to RS. I don't see why people wearing them should bother you. Because no matter how much people lie about why they're wearing them, it's to act better, to make people jealous, and to incite negative feelings. Especially the harder to get 99's capes. Slayer, Farming (not hard but people think it is), Runecrafting, Herblore etc. Almost nobody wears it exclusively because they're proud of their accomplishment. That feeling goes away in a few days, I know because I've been there 4 times. I'm prepared to be assaulted and flamed. When I wear my questcape, I wear it because I like it, because I'm happy I've done all the quests. Not to show off. Also, I find it a tad difficult to find a good clothing scheme for it.
  6. I'm 99% sure I killed Jad with a 2/10 crystal bow >.< And yes, I brought a full, spare crystal bow for jad.
  7. Holy hell why did i never notice that? Well obviously it should be Dragon Battle Axe>Whip>ss/ags/bgs/zgs/sgs EDIT:Why did i listen to you *face palm* the Dragon Halbred is obviously better. It has 4 higher str bonus. No d hallies +4 str bonus does not make up for its slow speed. You TOTALLY missed out on the sarcasm there.
  8. Okay, now your just making things worse. Although I agree with your "I don't care" sentiment towards the Mod name thing.
  9. Use the fairy rings o.O The fairy rings do not normally involve Oldak's machine... You use the fairy rings the way you normally would O_O The code is listed even listed with all the other fairy ring codes! BLQ
  10. For max players with overloads and turmoil, yes. Not everyone has overloads. Or turmoil. Or for that matter, even maxed stats. There are certain niches where the higher accuracy and strength is useful - problem is, at maxed stats, especially with overloads and turmoil, the increased accuracy doesn't do matter a damn (if your normal accuracy is say 99%, a 200% increase in accuracy is hardly noticeable) and the higher damage doesn't make up for the speed. I just like to point out that not everyone is at a level where that's true. My SGS, for instance, is quite useful for ME at TD's.
  11. One thing that might help if you take lots of damage (might be just me, I could be crazy after all o.O) I prefer to attack for a while, get some damage in, then drink like a brew and a half and 2 super restore doses. Might be just me, but it feels like if I do that, I can actually spend some time damaging or attempting to damage him before I heal. I can't think of anything in your overall strategy to change; few things like fury if you can get one, if not a god stole; +10 prayer works wonders. Karils isn't a bad choice, a bit better then d-hide, but that brings your repair cost up if you die. Other then that, maybe get a bunch of accumulators so you don't need to get a new one each time you die. (I have like 27 in my bank now.... once I found a good strategy for him, I beat him my first try. This doesn't include failed attempts where I didn't have a good strategy or times I died testing out armor, etc. I was also bloody surprised you couldn't tele from him, so my first time there went horribly....) Yeah, this fight can hurt your budget.
  12. Show me this outfit please? >.> Ontopic: people are going to get judged for their skillcapes. If that wasn't the case, most people that had one probably wouldn't - and this world would be entirely different.... The main thing I look down on is people who get a skillcape* "just to fit in" or something a long the lines of "I'm level 90/100/110+ without a skillcape, I feel like a noob, so I'm getting a cooking cape." I actually know a few people who went for a cooking cape because they felt like a noob/frowned upon/a disgrace for not having a skillcape at their level. Ironically, many of the people "their level" presumably (ok, before anyone accuses me of making this up, I'll admit I am) have a cape just because of their own desire to "not be a noob." *Usually cooking/fletching, followed by firemaking.** **I actually sort of respect the firemaking cape, definitely more then cooking/fletching, because of how tedious it is. Ah, what an interesting world we live in...
  13. BLEEPITY BLEEP I WANNA RESPOND NOW NOT IN 45 SECONDS! ! ! Sorry. But, um, 11-15 per game isn't that bad. For faster tokens, range, go on f2p worlds and range, get 99 range, find a group of players that are level 3 and play vs them to increase tokens. But honestly, unless you fight someone extremely stupid who lets you get max charge and gets none themself, 11-15 seems like a decent average.
  14. How do you propose to stop them.....? Not all of them use the "M." It might feel a bit unfair, but I don't see any practical way to stop them. And there's much better things to be concerned about imo. Then again, there's better things to worry about then video games, yet I still worry (depending on the context...)
  15. Faster in P2P. How fast it is depends on what kind of teams you can get.
  16. I'd still be looking at over 400gp a surge. I'd rather save runes. Also, it makes little sense to me to cast elemental attack spells without elemental runes. I think the best idea would be to uber-boost RC. An example would be you'd craft multiple runes based on how the standard for crafting multiple air runes. It also keeps the skill useful and profitable at higher levels - although the increase in runes would bring down the price. Just one idea, a few flaws in it (for instance, do we need that many runes outside of combat runes?) Honestly, there's a number of ways Jagex could boost magic use by either boosting runecrafting or saving or reducing combat rune use in some way.
  17. I never heard anything about the ring giving extra exp O.O
  18. As previously mentioned... You could put *10* workers on maples in MTK o.O On the other hand, you won't make as much profit. and if you put 10 on herbs, you'd presumably make more money that you could then spend on nests. Other then that, the next fastest way is Moley moley moley moley BIG FREAKING MOLE!
  19. Worry about the freaking crossbow when it comes out.
  20. Money has to be really tight if you can't afford RS at College imo o_o On the other hand, just BEING in College is a reason not to be members and distracted by RS... (something I probably should do and probably won't) Fraid I can't recommend anything, if I ever stopped my membership, doubt I'd play.
  21. Yes, I do play runescape. And I also enjoy the new loading screen. However, I do not enjoy the new potion's graphic. I hope they change it back. That's just my two cents on this online forum for voicing you're opinion. Are you sure you play Runescape? Your post didn't really sound like it. (By the way, it's "your opinion" not "you're opinion") I can tell. WoW invented loading screens with artwork and tips? Hmm, time to tell every other MMO developer that they are copying WoW too, as well as Valve for Team Fortress 2, as well as <insert any game here>. Thanks for breaking this news. No, it's just people have an obsession with comparing RS to WoW because WoW is the biggest MMORPG (offtopic - that acronym needs to be changed) out there. It probably happens for the same reasons that Canadians will compare themselves to Americans. Overall, I don't think this update will be "good" until they fix out the glitches (you knew they were coming) and come up with more content using Z buffering.
  22. That's because many people don't bother to read the updates. Well, to be fair, the last few times they've changed the clothes they made a bigger deal of it, despite the clothes not being as good; this time, it was just a small lil blip in the "other news" section.
  23. You know, I've fought Jad over 10 times now, and the first time I beat him I had a shot of hard liquor before the fight o_O
  24. Off-topic, but I wonder if the people at tipit should make a seperate Help % Advice section for Jad and Nomad o.O
