14-Sept-2011 Ritual of the Mahjarrat
pulli23 replied to Saradomin_Mage's topic in General Discussion
@bladekill: [hide]Indeed this may be true, but had it really have to come with this quest? - Couldn't it just be a start of a quest on its own? - Really the tie between kethsi & mahjarrat is neglectable. Really everything I gained in kethsi was of no use further in the quest. Also the end of lucien is, unsatisfying. Really, a 2 hit blow and death, player uninvolved, his own fault? Seems really like deus ex machina to me. [/hide] -

Wow, a really dissatifying end of story for me.. Quest really feels like "part 1 of 2", or maybe a "change story from A to B". Deus ex machina, much? [hide]What has kethsi & robert actually to do with this? - They could've just let out the whole kethsi plane & robert references. Has anyone actually found what to do with that necklace you find from robert? - And you're supposed to return to him when he's not in cat form?[/hide] -
Hi there, I'm doing rise of the mahjarrat, and stuck now I'm stuck. I'm currently at the position where I have to find that fortress: but how to find it? - and get in?

I'm not saying they aren't big enough, or that the quest is bad. I'm just saying that they shouldn't make things better than they are. -

Wow this is really stupid, jagex says "massive" xp rewards. Yet they fail to realize it's not that much. Can't they remember the past - where they didn't hype up everything? -

BUT WHO WILL WIN IN THE DUAL ARENA@@@ Well they'll start by singing a Daisy, Daisy - Still alive duet!

Meh, glados is just a weak thing. I'll take HAL over glados anytime. At least HAL knows how to open and close doors.

I have 70-85 farming logged, and in that time I gained 7 (exactly 7.186..) "picks" per living patch. - so 9.3-9.5 with juju. And accounting for deaths: 8.5-8.6. So a total run should have on average 44 herbs.

Antibot. An actual effective method? No way!
pulli23 replied to Powerfrog's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
For bots there's an easy way around captchas: Once a bot in a network encounters a captcha, he is forwarded to a living person. This person than solves the captcha and the bot continues. Living persons can do many thousand captchas an hour, there are whole companies for this. But on top of that, bots will soon adopt a "point" style: where you earn your own client points by solving captchas for other bots. (and each point earns you a captcha for your bot solved). -
Are fairy rings the best alternative? - I can't seem to buy larupia even at +15%.

Just the fact that a new economy would take ages to get started. Most people wouldn't be able to play like they're used to e.g. buying resources way beyond their level (whips, brews, super pots...). I'd actually love to see this happening. I'm all for a "regular reset" server, where the aim is to get as high as possible in a year (or maybe 2).

Well my confusion came from the terms then: I don't live in the US so I don't know the difference between them (criminal record 7 sex offenders). But really, this makes me very, very happy once again I'm not in that god forsaken country called "USA". - People only care about themself there. "overwhelming demand from public" - what, are the US people that asocial not to wish people to have a life anymore? At least here people are actually RESPECTED if they help former criminals with a new job.

hm kk, but how to get the actual feathers?
-
Hi there, What is a good (best) method to get phoenix feathers (FYI: I finished all quests)? Also, is it possible to make (4) potions to (3) en masse?

You see that tb flying from a mile away: giving you enough time to "dodge" the bind by hiding behind a tree. Besdies, does nobody let skelletons attack them before running through the open (after the trees)? Come on, show a bit of intelligence and use the game to your advantage.

Waterfiends are weak to crush... Rapier time!
pulli23 replied to Powerfrog's topic in Data and Research
Counting hits/misses works, you just need to get quite a lot of counts done. There already is a lot of data on crims charm rates though, as that's the only thing most people cba writing down. Overkill isn't hard to account for provided you're only comparing two setups, as you have to run quite a lot of calculations for each setup. Problem is: with the differences you're looking here you have to be carefull on "crimson rate / hour". It would only work if you are close to the "standard" with maul. - Or do the double test (maul + rapier) as 1 person. -
I wish there was a system that actually disabled recovery attempts. So I don't have to fear that corner, why does anyone actually "looses" a password? - Don't you store important ones?
-
Those registrations are not for future reference for repeat offences, that system is already in place in the form of your criminal record. The register is public & there to protect the public & for future employers so he doesn't get to work in or around people/children of who he could abuse. What you've just said is rubbish. That's why they shouldn't be public, I'm saying those things are damaging a person more than necessary. - Hopefully now you get the point? - I am OPPOSED to public records of private things which follow you your whole life. That is rubbish? - Good luck in the future, "big brother is watching you". And we are discussing morals here, what you should, and should not do. It is impossible to leave religion out, as the basics for each religion is teaching morals. Maybe it is human nature, but do we have to admit this? Do we have to fall into our own mistakes again and again? Can't we learn and not act prejudiced? Those things only show a weakness.

Yes MD5 is possible to "reverse": however you won't reverse the password, instead you reverse to something that will also be accepted as password. Using a salt like you mentioned (md5("string" + "salt_string")) would indeed reverse engineer to a workable password. However due to the nature of this, you won't be able to split the "salt" and the password parts. So you won't be able to use the reverse engineered "password" on any other site than the original site (as the salt would be random for each site). Furthermore, IPB uses a double-salted password: MD5("pass" + MD5(salt)) +MD5(salt), making it impossible to reverse engineer unless you knew the salt in advance.

NO it's clearly in the tip.it rules you can't discuss someone in a negative manner. So stop that On top of that: In a game there's only 1 thing that defines right or wrong: that's wether you like what you are doing or not. If you like what you are doing, you are doing it the correct way, remember, a minute spent having fun is what a game is about. You can obviously discuss wether or not you think people will stay in the top with their playstyles, and question why they do it. However that is completely different from talking in a negative manner, which includes joking about somebody. - On top of this, this is one the basic rules tip.it was build upon in the past.

Passwords are easily decrypted unless the hash is encrypted based on your hardware or something. And if you search around, you'd see some people actually have their hands on several databases. I was just pointing out that with the information they have PLUS the information the OP had revealed himself is what helped the hackers for the whole recovery process. Sigh: good luck with decrypting them. It will take you what, a thousand years to decrypt a mysql table? Really don't just believe anything you read, be critical, LEARN before posting statements. IPB uses a randomized salt, so it is impossible to decrypt. Unless you know the salt (impossible) - or use brute force methods.

^ langer is correct there. "Green updates should be in a comedy section for RS." - and that's not the first time. May or may not be serious (though lack of smileys imply seriousness), but it is still not a good thing to say. Being different is actually a good thing.
