  1. A few things I strongly disagree with: [qoute]Always pile the highest damage monster first, with a few exceptions. Always kill monsters in the following order: Poison spiders/night spiders, high level shades, high level mages, high level meleers, high level rangers, brutes, dogs, bats, rats, ice spiders, everything else. Poison hardly hits a lot, especially when someone has cure potions they can be safely ignore. Shades should be the first priority. Also high level rangers are deadly when you have a difficult room (with lots of other monsters). Fighting the meleeers at start is a waste of food (you'll pray melee anyways).. especially when you have a mager in your team (who could focus on the warriors): for the meleers: shades -> spiders -> magers / rangers (depending if you have a ranger) -> hobgolbins -> brutes -> skelletons -> bats/forggottten warriors (depend if you have a mager) -> rest for the rangers shades -> spiders ->magers -> rangers -> bats -> hobgoblins -> dogs -> rest (brutes & warriors are like impossible to hit with range) for the mages shades -> forgotten wariors -> spiders -> brutes -> zombies -> skelletons -> rest (you hit very bad on the rest so might switch to a melee weapon, especially bats, rangers and mages) Hobgoblins are pretty deadly too, had a lvl 141 hobgoblin who hitted me a 300+.. And often (through pro plate) also I wouldn't recommend on high alching stuff: coins will be plentyfull anyways, so extra coins aren't really needed... Yet you waste 2 (or 1 if maging with fire staff) inventory spots on these! This is untrue I think: had a duo run (small dungeon) where we found only lv 50- warriors.. (who dropped like only short finned eels) yet the boss was lvl 200 (riftspitter) Secondly I think an ideal team setup would be: 3 meleers (who kill the main stuff) 1 melee/ranger (mainly melee, but could use range for the mages/bats) 1 mage/meleer (specially tasked for the forgotten warriors, brutes & zombies)
  2. What exactly IS its use? What is its purpose? Does Jagex even know? Is the purpose to show you attended the event? Nope, can't be that, because you can get the item without attending. Is it to promote the event? If so, it would be better if everyone could get it. It sure as hell isn't to do something nice for the community, given how divisive it is, and how anyone with two clues to rub together could have predicted what would happen when they announced it. Did you never get a small present from a friend (for a holiday or something).. Most of the time these presents will simply gather dust somewhere.. Yet the kindness of giving such a thing, makes it worth it.. The same counts for these gifts: You should feel honoured that jagex gives you something, a special "thank you for attending the event"...
  3. Well he was lvl 138 :P, and the leader..... But this starts happening more and more.. People either hog up all the food, yet if they die they simply log out of the game. Leaving you with 4 people impossible to beat the dungeon..
  4. Well the hard truth is solo exp sucks. The skill kind of forces you to team with other people. So no matter how frustrating w2ers are, just remember it is always better exp than soloing (unless your dying 5 times a dungeon, lol). Well we met a shadowforger lvl 503 today.... everybody (except 1 person who refused to go in) died at least 5-6 times..
  5. He isn't dead lol.. IN the last letter thok says as much as: "mamaros was hit.. Monster was faster than thok, but thok stronger and beat him. Hope marmaros can write again." (signed thok) seems like he was pretty badly hurt, but not dead.. Also there are lots of ghost around deamonheim.. You know the whole party where thok + marmaros started with completely vanished?
  6. I can safely tell that (at least giant) bats are weak versus STAB.. (Or at least: more weak vs stab than vs crush).. After beating around 20 of them with a prome maul, and dozens with a gorgonite spear.. I notice the gorgonite spear hits like 3-4 times more than the prome maul. All fiend types are (outside deamonheim at least) weak versus crush.. Seems feasible to be inside deamenheim the same is true. For the warriors as said look at their armour: if they have a chain they are weak vs stab, otherwise vs crush. (Difference can easily be seen if you view a warrior from behind, the platebody has some kind of "plate" at the back too, while the chain is simply grayish).
  7. For lower level, cheap armour you should check out rockshell: cheaper than rune yet same stats (like 30k last time I bought). A higher tier almost immediatelly is barrows.. (cheap barrows goes for ~1m atm) As for ranged armour: use the best dragonhide! (often very cheap) Also during quest you'll be introduced to countless of specific pieces of armour (most which are useless)..
  8. It's not overrated, and it takes <15 min to find a decent team on RSOF if you're 130+. You only get idiots if you look for a team ingame, especially on w2. Afaik it's best to rush F1-28 small 5:5 (5-8 min games), then do F29-35 large 5:5, opening all doors and leaving dead ends. Sadly the emphasizes lies on the combat level.. As if that matters a lot: lower combat average would mean lower average for monsters = easier for everyone = faster = more xp / hour... If you're below lv 120 it's very hard to find a decent team on the rsof.
  9. Hi I wonder, is there any IRC chat already for people who like to find floors in dungeoneering (but hate waiting till others pop-up)? I'm currently thinking of making a bot to organize this and bring people together, however if there exists already a method I'll use that 1.. (Don't want to reinvend the wheel).
  10. so basically in game advertisment of the festival?
  11. I wouldn't fly on heathrow: prices of planes landing there are probably 2-3 times as big as when flying on smaller airfield.
  12. Uhm why is 9 days different from 365? - It seems so arbritrary to "just choose some days where you can earn more xp". - Just do it always, or at special opportunities (last weekend I saw as "something to make the market clear for a new skill ")
  13. Uhm well 80+ euros is on the higher-side... However it's not that high considering such events, it allows for some more "elite" setting which might be advantageous. Ie last week we had a "gala" from our student society, the prices 100 euros for a pair. - Add to that the dress price of ~150,- (Really, you can't show yourself with simply a smoking...) and you can see parties like these are quite "normal". (Well they are things you do once every 5 years or something like that).. It doesn't have to have a mass of people, best parties have only like 50-100 people, going for an 'elite' feeling.
  14. Uhm question for those who like such a weekend: why not make everything in RS give you always twice as much xp? That certainly wouldn't be too far-fetched from the bonus xp weekend, and only be fairer for everyone (who for example can't log in at weekends). you say this devaluates 99's? - Well so do bonus xp weekends, they work exactly the same (especially when hold regularly, like more than once a year)
  15. Well in members you have some rare drops.. Which only make sense to use if you also have OTHER rare drops... Now what is the chance of finding, 2 slayer items in 1 dungeon? - VERY low. Also: I can get pro-skirt from a boss.. Now what did that do for me? - Nothing, after the boss I stop the dungeon and I keep my platebody + spear.. Basically: any special drops you think "WOOOHOOO yeah, finally a .... drop", is very short-lived...
  16. I wouldn't say the difference between long/baxe/2h is so large: here the problem with accuracy starts to pop up.. (2h hits much better on difficult foes)
  17. Solo: I found the unholy cursebear very annoying. (yes I know I can restore my stats, problem is hitting 1/8th of his hp before that) For multi, it is a tie between the library one and the horde: The horde tend to always pile 1 person, yet it spawns skelletons for the amount of people the dungeon was meant.. So in a 5/5 dung 1 person almost always dies.. The library one can be suden-annoying... With the fact that for each person in the boss room 2 books spawn when he teles (or does book barrage).. Meaning the whole area can be filled sometimes filled. As you can see I hate the bosses where you get lots of different targets..
  18. well they did say so during the live q&a series.. - There is a post in the 130+ page long discussion about dungeoneering containing this (I'm too lazy to look it up) Some of the crewbies thought the same thing. However, jagex simply stated that you have a lower xp/hr output if you do maps slower. Think about it... if you do maps more slowly, that's fewer maps per hour, which is less xp. It has NOTHING to do with map speed. Hmm indeed it might be interpreted that way... However if that's what they meant it was a pretty useless statement.. Anyone could figure that out >.<
  19. It's RuneScape in a petri dish. Hopefully this mini RS can be tweaked to perfection, after which Jagex can bring the same standards to the outside world. I wonder if spears are overpowered though. In F2P I see a variety of weapons, but at promethium level most melee players seem to use spears. If you have only meleers, you will have to use a weapon that is versatile: since you need stab & crush for the harder melee-able oponents.. However if you have a mage in your team, this isn't needed: and actually a 2h might be better against the rangers (you can just leave the forgotten warriors / big melee-opponents to the mages). Or in case of a very good team, one person would 'tank": meaning the longsword would be best (+shield). Only problem with the long + shield combo is the time taken to make these.
  20. I take on fights often without anything except for my basics.. And often win: I just don't believe taking lower than katagon is worth the time to stop/mine for (hence: rubbish).. (and even katagon is pushing it).
  21. Sweet Jesus... Usually when I duo with a friend of mine, it takes us upward of an hour per. :???: But do you play on 2:1 difficulty? (that means you play with 2 people on the difficulty for 1, so it's easier, but it's -7% xp). easiness doesn't really matter that much, even walking around, exploring the dungeon takes often 10 mins! - especially on f2p, where you don't have anything binded & can't run the whole time
  22. well they did say so during the live q&a series.. - There is a post in the 130+ page long discussion about dungeoneering containing this (I'm too lazy to look it up)
  23. well simply: bad luck... Combat level of bosses can be upto 2 times the average combat level of you when soloing. - Just make sure you have full katagon at least. (anything less is rubbish).. With decent mining levels you ought to find lots of rocks on your way to the boss.
  24. You know base/prestige experience also depends on how fast you do the round? - If you do it (much) faster as planned the xp increases (and if you do it much more slowly the xp decreases). Ow and on the other hand, did anyone
  25. Lol that's definatelly not correct! A dungeon takes at least 10-15 mins.. So one could do at most 6 dungeons an hour.. Thus resulting in at least 5 hours for f1-29.
