  1. An interesting read. Precisely why I don't bother with debating stuff like this anymore. Christians, you're never going to convince an atheist there is a God by arguing with them online. Atheists, you're not going to prove there's no God to Christians. Show, don't tell.

I am an emotionless monster with an inflated ego. :uhh: Seriously. I am. :?
  3. How did I forget Tetris? Still play it to this day. And my first real PC game was probably Speedy Eggbert, so it gets a special mention. I doubt anyone here has ever heard of it.
  4. Eh. So many great games to choose from. In no particular order: 1. Age of Empires (First two + expansions) Note that I didn't mention the third. It sucks. However, the first two were godly. The first? Well, I love ancient history. Though the graphics are lousy (Decent for their time, if not good), and the gameplay isn't that deep, it's a good game. The second? Possibly the greatest historical strategy game ever. 2. Starcraft Need I explain? It's sold about 10 million copies for a reason. I think this is where my inner Korean (No, I'm not Korean at all, but I love spicy food and their style of games) comes out. 3. Civilization (IV/Warlords) What you pay for isn't much. A few scenarios, not that great. But when you delve into the world of mods, you get lost. There are thousands of mods for it, ranging from a quite accurate historical version (RFC) to fantasy (Fall From Heaven). Not to mention creating your own mods is easy. 4. Rome: Total War Massive battles = Awesome. 5. Orange Box No, it's not one game. But it's one helluva purchase. (Just saying, "helluva" is apparently a word) I can't really pick one, all great games.
  5. We're studying Buddhism in history. My homework for this weekend? Follow the Eightfold Path as best as I can. Everything in moderation, hm?

Oh, finally, another INTJ. I guess there's proof we're only 1.5% of the population. Apparently Gandalf is INTJ. And Hannibal Barca. And Augustus Caesar. Sounds good enough for me.
  7. ThurinEthir replied to l0rd's topic in Off-Topic
The first time I took this, I believe I got ISTJ. The second time, ISTJ again. Third time, INTJ. This time: Sounds about right. Basically, my head > my heart. If I even have a heart.
  8. I know, I'm special, right? \ You can have a political spectrum on individual issues. But you can't lump all those issues together and create a single political spectrum.
  9. Wait, what's wrong with brown or navy with black? Those three colors, white, and a pale green shirt make up my entire wardrobe. People who care about what others are wearing annoy me. If it's something ridiculous (Visible buttcrack, extremely tight/loose, etc.), that's fine, but if it's something like colors...No. Just no. It's fine if you care about what you wear, when you start caring about what I wear, that's crossing the line.
  10. My entire mother's side of the family celebrates it, lol. And I give & get presents. Just saying the tradition has been going on since pagan times and barely has anything at all to do with Jesus being born. Maybe some conservative christians would even view it as blasphemy to celebrate his birth on an irrelevant date. At least in scandinavian countries, when it comes to christians the tradition mostly involves going to a church for mass, listen to the pastor thanking God for the past year, and eating ham/various holiday foods. Jesus being born on 25th of Dec is considered more of a tale like the Santa Claus giving toys to good kids rather than an actual truth (with the exception that Jesus was an actual historical person though, while Santa Claus or 'sinterklaas' is disputed or mythological). Oh, nothing against you. I've just heard that too much from other people elsewhere, and decided it was time to take action. Anyway, it's not like there's a "real" way to celebrate Christmas. Everyone does what they want, I don't care.
  11. I'm a liberal Christian. Taking away the fact that I live in Massachusetts (So the default position is liberal), most people assume that I'm conservative. Solely because I'm Christian. But in my mind, I have a separation of church and state. Though Christian values are generally my values, I'm not going to be Democratic or Republican because "Jesus was." I just happen to have been influenced this way, and I ended up really far left-wing. So then people assume I'm a communist. Maybe I am. Maybe I'm not. Maybe I'm socialist. I have no idea. But then those people decide that because I'm communist, I suck with money and I'm the devil. Eh. Still, it's not like I have purely liberal ideals.
  12. It's six months either way. And I really doubt they had proof (when picking a date) that Jesus was born between March and September - This was what, over 600 years ago? Which brings me back to the point that it was probably a somewhat random date, though Wikipedia says "The date of celebration is not thought to be Jesus' actual date of birth. It may have been chosen to coincide with the winter solstice, which the ancient Romans celebrated on December 25." Hm. (I'm not trying to start an argument or anything, I'm just getting tired of people saying stuff like "Jesus wasn't born on December 25, don't celebrate that!")
  13. Seeing as December 25th has no factual or historical basis in being the birthdate of Jesus Christ, and most christian theologians put his birth anywhere from March to September, it seems much more viable to celebrate it as a family & friend occassion which can also include giving and recieving gifts. Still, what do you want us Christians to do? Pick a random day between March and September, and call that Christmas? (Oh, but wait, people will then yell at us that it has no historical basis) It's simply a random day that has been picked to be representative of the birth of Christ - Not definitely the actual day. Like a bunch of other holidays. For instance, I really doubt the Pilgrims and Native Americans held their Thanksgiving on the fourth Thursday of November. Lincoln just chose that day, like whoever chose Christmas to be December 25 chose that day. Sure, the meaning has changed to family gathering, food, and presents (Perhaps it was already like that, who knows), but some people like to look past that and celebrate what it represents. Nothing wrong with that. ;)

  15. Really? The hacking problem has really gone down, it's great how Nexon actually cares unlike some companies. Well, at least I think it has...I stopped back in September, and the hacking was ridiculous then. This past weekend, I started a new account, played on the nub servers, and didn't see a single hacker. But yes, I'd say it's one of, if not the, best free FPS out there. Only downside is no European version yet. I think. Completely forgot. Edit: Oh, you live in Canada. Eh, fair warning to any Europeans interested. I live in Canada? The OP. Or at least I think he does. If I read correctly.
  16. Eh, nearly all of the games I've played are mainstream/really obvious or way too obscure for anyone here to know about. Except maybe this. (Had to edit out a bit or else it would've been too easy)
  17. Lords of Magic?

Oh wow, right now at least, the moon is on the other side of Venus and Jupiter. So it's a frowning face. #-o I'm surprised I can see it so early, it's not even 5 yet. Ugh, guess winter's here... :x I think it was warri0r45 that posted a thread about Stellarium a while back, worth a download for anyone who likes this stuff.
  19. I think we call that nuggeting here...In 7th grade, two guys in my math class had the same backpack, and one of them was ridiculously annoying. So the other switched the backpacks, and nuggeted the annoying one's while he thought his was still by his side. Oh, the lulz.
  20. ThurinEthir replied to Boris5000's topic in Off-Topic
Oh right, my physics teacher told us today, Jupiter and Venus (I think?) are both in the sky around this time, and both quite bright. And since the moon is in the crescent stage, apparently those three together look like a smiley face. ;)

One of my favorite things I've ever done was go into a [small] forest at night, and lie there staring up at the stars. Second favorite was going to Danshui (Basically a town by a beach in Taiwan) at sunset, sitting there watching the waves, the moon, and the stars for a few hours. Then I realized how much I still love astronomy. (Used to be obsessed with it as a kid :P ) I'm definitely a night person, I prefer the faraway stars and the moon over the Sun. Perhaps it's also because it's so quiet, so peaceful.
  22. Eat a piece of glass. Now. I'd go with Amazing Race probably. Only one that intrigues me.
  23. To those that want guns as a self-defense system at home - Are there not better ways to defend your house? Barricade your doors and windows. Build traps. Keep archers on your roof. Or not. (Still a half-valid point though, I'd think) I'm fine with keeping guns legal - Just heavily moderated. Of course, moderation might not do much, but it'd be a start.

  25. GunZ is a third person shooter, and in my opinion, it sucks. A lot of people like it though. As for FPSs, Combat Arms or Soldier Front is probably your best bet.
