  1. You only need to be inside a house with 5 people, so everyone gets it, not just the person who did the entering at 5. Poorly worded challenge.
  2. The problem is the entire grouping system is so horribly inefficient that no one who isn't hardcore into friendschat/clans for dg actually really wants to group with randoms. The automated group system is bad, and manually grouping takes nearly as long as just doing the floor. In addition, the scoring system for xp at the end does not encourage just continuing with the same team (like it SHOULD have) That alone makes grouping annoying, so the fact that it is even less necessary now makes it very difficult to encourage. It also doesn't help that one person can very very quickly ruin floor times, by not helping at the emote, portals, etc. (or just not being smart enough to move the group gate when it's dead). The fact that one person out of 5 can so vastly ruin the xp rate makes it too easy to grief on purpose or on accident which again discourages teams.
  3. Note some of the cheesy lore mentions the deaths. In addition Death the NPC has met us in the afterlife spot. But that isn't the true afterlife just a shuffling off section, where adventures resurrect. It's not that we actually don't die, but that the death we experience isn't real because some power has chosen to save us from near death.
  4. Part of the issue is that those "breaks" don't seem to translate to better (less buggy, more awesome, more interactive, more valued) content. All it seems to do is just result in less updates of the same quality.
  5. That could be interesting. Can anyone confirm if you can set the secondary ring class to both in the same category? And does tank count with a shield bow?
  6. Not every element of a game can please every player. Just because you want to force a lamp to be useful for you does not mean they are "punishing" you. It is your choice to avoid the rewards until they are most optimal. Not everyone does this. In addition it is highly unlikely that someone will get the reward before they get 98 in at least one skill. Just because you happen to want to eek every single ounce of benefit from something doesn't mean Jagex has to cater to only your play style. Every task has had a lamp at the level of the highest skill requirement of that set. This is done on purpose. 98 crafting was the highest required level. That is how the diaries have been done, and that is how Jagex did this one. Just because you don't think it has that much benefit.. well, you can suck it up and wait on the rewards or you can "waste" the lamp. Not everything needs to be handed to the player to make it easy.
  7. The aura has no cooldown for the easy, med, and hard rewards. As long as its equipped you get the bonus. For the elite one it has a cooldown 1hr + 4hr cooldown and all rewards are active while equipped (activated or not) except for the bonus prayer one. It makes you regain prayer whenever you bury a bone or use it on an altar. Everything else is active whenever the aura is equipped.
  8. You have a right to say it's wrong. However, I am fairly sure Jagex does market research... While they may have implemented EoC badly in some respects, I do feel that a lot of people dislike it simply because its new and they don't want to learn. Yes, it is not the best implementation of ability based combat (and it needs more abilities that do more interactive things, with a clear-er indication of what is actually happening to both you and your target). But I do feel like it is better than the mindless system we previously had (for people *not* at the pinnacle of combat gameplay) of click and wait. Ofcourse the highest level of play included things like soulsplit flicking, managing familiars and potion timers, as well as lossless picking up loot, etc. Some of those things are not important or effective now. However, the highest level of gameplay is not the only level.
  9. Since it isn't required to get all 30 challenges for the gold outfit, that bonus is less useful since it is very easy to do 25/30 :)
  10. Naturalist isn't a very common one in my memory.. Keep in mind for the actual doors we do have the portent of passage things we can use too...
  11. Same. I am ok with it because it was impossible to avoid doing a divination challenge of my current level while still training divination at the best spot. This prevented me from guaranteeing a dungeon challenge every day. (This happens because if you attempt to turn in one challenge it turns them all in, and you can't always get the order where dungeon happens first so you can walk out of chat.) But it is somewhat odd that we aren't getting 85 tier challenges..
  12. Correct. and if they have a small network of GPU based hacking systems it can go even faster. If the hash was salted (highly likely) it adds an extra amount of guessing what the salt was in addition. If it was salted well, then it will be much more difficult to crack considering that you would have to know the salt as well (which without length and if properly random would be very difficult) If the hash algorithm had a weakness they could also exploit that.. but most likely it doesn't have a known weakness (since usually that is reason to stop using it for passwords) It can be effectively beaten for a period of time with a proper length salt and good length passwords.
  13. You're right ofcourse, it's too expensive. But it was a joke anyways.
  14. I did multiple runs between reset time (midnight GMT) and the next few hours.. Zero pkers.
  15. I don't think for as long, because although Dungeoneering is faster.. it requires a lot more xp (120 vs 99) and even though divination is slow, you can get 13m xp pretty fast. Plus the rate for people who hate divination is about the same as for those who love it (vs dungeoneering where the style you choose to play vastly impacts your xp/hr)
  16. I have heard that a Jmod said in a podcast something to the effect of 'we didn't want people who have more knowledge of the game to get higher xp rates', referring to Divination I think. Now I don't have the source, and it's second-hand, but Ellac's pretty reliable :P. Anything that sounds even slightly like that statement is completely inappropriate for a game designer. Getting ahead by knowledge is the basis of all tactical gameplay. RS is supposed to be a tactical game (because with the tick system, it's never going to be quite like M&B, right?). At the same time though, you don't want to make it *too* difficult for people to learn and be able to compete.. It is a delicate balance. Jagex unbalances away from skill too much. A good balance is where mechanics make new players feel like they have a chance, but actually provide advantage to the people who understand them.
  17. Hard mode seems interesting.. so... every skill door being maxed out? umm every puzzle being setup the worst way.. every boss being the highest tier......... the random layout being the worst.. still doesn't sound that difficult.. unless they introduce some extra variations of puzzles and bosses?
  18. They aren't designing the tasks to be probably for someone under 99.. I believe they just want to ensure its possible (in order for the "but tasks shouldn't be this difficult" crowd to be appeased)
  19. Correct. However, to win, that person would have to not slack off for any other days either. (Assuming dumgun only slacked off one day) this gives drumgun a slight advantage right now. Plus, based on previous history drumgun does have a pretty good record of not slacking too much.. Still ofcourse no one is really a safe bet yet..
  20. Seeing as how almost nothing is worth Loyalty and Runecoins right now that is hardly a problem.
  21. Right. Basically though, we have protection, and Owen does not. There's no way Owen is gonna be able to keep the wand if Saradomin does not want him too. (Unless Owen gives it to another god or far more powerful being than himself before Saradomin realizes)
  22. Except as long as its not in *our* hands Saradomin can use his godly powers to just take the wand. Heck, he was able to take it from us even though we're somewhat protected already.
  23. They did. It's how the bonus xp from the Duke works. They really should change all bonus xp into double xp while skilling. *every single* free "xp" lamp and troll and everything. That encourages people to play. Could even make it scale so if you get above a certain point you get 3x rate till it drops below say 200k and so forth..
