  1. The world is made up of all types, no matter what happens there is always a place for you and everyone else, it is our differences that make us human and bring us all closer in a way, despite what others may say or do it does not change that fact. You must be who you want to be not who others expect you to be, it may seem hard, but in the end it will be worth it because you can not achieve true happiness by being who you are not. If you are a religious person, your god wouldn't have made these differences without some sort of point in mind, all those who say they are religious yet shun those who are different blind themselves from this fact, there would be no point if everyone was the same. So just do what you think is right, do not give into the will of others, if you don't feel comfortable doing this then don't its your life to live how you want. It is important not to become a slave to other's beliefs.
  2. I mostly agree with you. :) You make some great points. I agree that who you are depends on who raised you. However, I would argue that biological differences also play a role, however minor. An example is the ability to carry offspring, which very much affects the way females react to certain situations. There's also testosterone and estrogen levels, but research is still on-going so I'll leave that to somebody else. In a certain sense, you are right. However, if an individual knows their family has a history of those issues they can seek help to avoid going through the same problems. A vast majority of alcoholics, for example, suffer from depression. This is a genetic disorder that can lead to offspring also being depressed and perhaps, in turn, also become alcoholics. Even so, proper treatment can help substantially and often proves to diminish/remove the issue at hand. However great those biological differences are, it is obvious that its possible to get past them, I mean just look at the chart, despite having these, there are still men and women who gave the wallets back and only a small fraction kept them, if these biological differences had an effect then the women and men side would be almost the opposite.
  3. I just never care enough to get revenge, if you do it just shows that you were effected enough by their actions to come up with something to get back at them with and will only make it so they or someone else keeps doing it. I admit there are times when I get angry enough that the thought comes up, but I usually drop it by the next day, its just a waste of time and thought that could be used for so much more.
  4. That's a sad illusion of "democracy", genders are such wide concepts you can't fit 6.5 billion people into 2 categories. "Women" includes all females from the bodybuilder to the skinny short one who can barely lift a jar of water, from those with genetic inclination towards alcohol, to those who serve as nuns due to religious devotion. It's very unrealistic, and also a lie, to think all people, men and women, were created with equal opportunities. Men can't do things women can. Women can't do something men can. Why don't men brestfeed their children or insist they are the one to stay at home while the mother works? And yes, turning out to be "evil" or "good" (though the world isn't even nearly that simple, more like 'grey' and 'grey'...) has a lot to do with your environment, but it also has a lot to do with your genes. A family that has a tradition of alcoholism, criminality, violence, etc. since their history has been recorded for hundreds of years, will inevitably influence their child born in 2007 to have some of those traits. Even if his current parents are absolute pacifists. Genes have a *lot* to do with your personality. Of course it is impossible to be raised exactly like the opposite sex, I knew that from the start, but my point still stands, if a person who took the wallet were to be raised like a person who didn't instead they would more than likely end up making the same choice to return the wallet. Your personality has little to do with what happens before you are born, it is made up by influences afterwards, true, if your parents, or the ones that raise you are corrupt there is a good chance you will be as well, but genes have very little to do with how you think. Also I know the world isn't as simple as 'good' and 'evil', I just used these words to show my point.
  5. I've gotta say for the first year or so I was on here I was very immature, constantly argueing, flaming, ect, I made some good points on rare cases but I was still being immature about it. Now I look back and wonder what the hell I was thinking lol. It still amazes me that I never got banned for pulling all of that.
  6. I would love to see a new Chrono game out, but as Nadril said even if they do make one they will probably ruin it.
  7. You'd like to believe that, but there are biological differences between male and female brains/chemical concentrations. And that's not even considering sociological differences between the two genders. You can't honestly say that society, in any part of the world, treats men and women exactly the same, can you? Now to your point, yes, those who commited the "wrong" act were most likely brought up in a worse manner than those who chose the morally right one, but this study does not examine individual morality- it contrasts the tendencies between two groups -males and females- to, in this case, steal, with less focus on why this happens (which is more less the main focus of the discussion on this thread, whether or not the test completely and utterly blowed scientifically). These biological differences do not have an effect upon the way they think or act though do they? When I said mind I meant nothing physically by it, I meant their thoughts, feelings, ect(And whether or not that is the correct use for the word I don't care so don't waste your time giving definitions and quotes because there isn't anthything to gain by it). And I never said that men and women are treated exactly the same in any part of the world, I said created equal not treated equal, this treatment of course effects their bringing up which leads them to these choices, if one of the men who took the wallet was brought up exactly like a woman who didn't he would probably made the same choice as the woman and vice versa(Even though this is not quite backed up by anything it is what I like to believe). All I'm saying is that you arn't created to be good or evil in any sense, you are raised into it. Tendencies or not this is obviously going to turn into a discussion about which sex is better if it hasn't already(I haven't quite read through all the posts and I don't intend to), so I thought it better to post this before things got insane as they have in my past experiences on here.
  8. With girls walking around in skirts... I think I'll manage somehow. :D
  9. I like to believe that all minds are created equal, it is how they are brought up that makes a difference, so I wouldn't say that women are better than men or men are better than women, those who kept the money were just brought up in the wrong way(At least compared to today's moral standards).
  10. I say get over it because no matter what you wear, how you look, or even how you act, you will always be judged by someone, whether you look unique or wear the exact same thing as 80% of the people in your area there are always those that will attribute a name to your look whether it be geek, emo, prep, poser, goth, scene, ect. It was thought I would be the first one to bring a gun to school for revenge just because I was quiet in school and was bullied a lot when I was younger when in truth I was just somewhat of a daydreamer and was fairly shy as well. I was also thought an "emo" by some just because of how I had my hair, when in truth my hair was very hard to tame and that was one of the only ways that I could make it look semi decent. Just be yourself, you'll still be judged, but at least you won't have to worry about fitting into everyone else's standards that way.
  11. It doesn't really matter what the kid did thats still more than enough to get him fired. I would hate that job too, but I hear people who do that get payed a lot. I would like to see you run that fast in a costume like that after working for a full day in the heat.
  12. Gankutsuou, an anime based of the Count of Monte Cristo, not exactly like the book, but its a lot closer to the story than the movie was.
  13. I would have to say brains, beauty can change all too easily.
  14. There really is no way to know for sure, at least while we still live in this reality. As several others have said, don't dwell on it, whether its real or not its best to just go on acting like it is, because you could be right, but then again you could be wrong as well.

  16. I never demanded an explanation for his disbelief, I merely said that I could just as easily ask for an explanation just as he did for the other guys belief, yet it would just come out the same way, even if its with science that you try to explain existance it still comes out the same as if you were trying to explain religion, the most you can do for either is give 1) unproven theorys such as the big bang theory or 2) the Christian theory of God. 3) I'm just saying there is no way to prove or disprove religion so there is no reason to get into an unnecessary fight over it and get these discussions banned again. 1) Theories don't get proven, they explain facts and work as systems of explanation incorporating evidence. The more evidence, the more tests done on hypotheses regarding that evidence, the stronger the theory. Theories will never become facts. Based on what I know, the big bang theory is a fairly decent one, but best to ask someone more knowlegable just to be safe. 2) There's no such thing; that's not a theory. Unless, of course, you use the everyday use of the word theory, that being 'guess or conjecture.' The big bang theory is at least much more than guess or conjecture. 3) You can certainly disprove literally interpreted aspects of some religions. Once they gel into the natural world, they are up for scientific scrutiny like any other idea. But, the purpose of scientific theories is not to disprove a religion, and anyone who thinks something like the big bang theory proves there is no god, they're kidding themselves. (1) I use the word theory as a way of guessing things we lack the evidence to properly back up, if thats not the proper use for it the who the hell cares? I'm only human, I think my explanation, whether me using the word 'theory' was correct or not, still properly shows what I'm getting at, so if you couldn't understand then I'm sorry my improper use of a word confused you, but if you could, which I'm sure you do, back off and get a life, I'm not in the mood to mess with stuck up grammar Nazis. the big bang we lack the evidence to back up, its a possibility, but we lack evidence, as well as a proper explanation as to what caused it. 2) I do use the word theory as a guess, and the (2) Big Bang theory is no more than that, we lack any evidence or proper explanation, thus it is no more proven than the idea of God. 3) Of course you can disprove the parts of religion that involve the universe we live in, but that was not the point I was making, that statement was regarding the conversation at hand, which, obviously, is over the belief in souls and the afterlife. Of course the Big Bang doesn't disprove the idea of God, I never said it did, I merely said it was as proven as the idea of god is. (1) I was just explaining what a theory is in the context of science. It's important to do this because the big bang theory is a scientific theory and not guesswork, as is portrayed by the conventional use of the word theory. It's not being a grammar Nazi, it's pointing out a vital distinction which is essential to avoid 'It's just a theory' type accusations in a debate. It is a theory, and it's never going to become a 'proven theory' or a fact. Such a change dosen't happen. (2) Have you read about it? To be honest much of the physics I read when I get into it just goes over my head. But you saying it's a guess is wrong. It's the most substantiated and accepted theoretical framework out there in regards to how the universe got to it's current state. From what I can pick up, I can tell you the evidence suggests an expanding and cooling universe. Logic alone would tell you that some point in the past, the universe was denser and hotter. This being the very essence of the big bang theory and not even going into any of the complex mathematics or cosmology. Not my cup of tea. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Bang Perhaps you should tell me whether you feel it's all just a guess after you read this. To be honest with myself I wouldn't know if some of this is guess work or not because much the physics goes over my head, but from what I do know, it's anything but a guess. It deserves more recognition than that. Whether it seems more probable and is accepted more than other ideas doesn't take away the fact that it is nothing more than an educated guess. Now, seeing as this has gone completly off course from the initial point I was making, and even farther off course from the topic of this thread, I'm done, if you want to keep arguing this go right on ahead, but I advise you to make a topic on the big bang before you do.
  17. My paradise would probably just be an ultimate darkness within which I can rest.

  19. Since when does graphics make a difference? Crap is still crap whether its in high definition or not am I right? I'm really getting tired of people like this, I mean if Barbie's Pony Adventure had good graphics they would call it hardcore gaming, its completly rediculous. To tell the truth the Wii is probably the closest to Next gen gaming than either the X-box360 or the PS3, I mean unlike Microsoft and Sony it seems the Nintendo is actually going in a new direction of things, while they are working on graphics and memory Nintendo has been working on ways to actually change gaming rather than go down the same old path that everyone has been on for years now. I have nothing against traditional gaming but you can only go so far with it. For now I think as far as true gaming goes, Xbox will come out on top(Due to its extensive library which Nintendo and Sony would have a very hard time catching up with in number as well as quality), Wii will be second(Seeing as the new gameplay is going to take some time to actually show its true potential), and the PS3 will be last(Small library, almost no decent exclusive games, only thing they have going for them is graphics, and graphics don't make decent games by themselves, sure it will go up in quality as time goes by, but so will the others).
  20. I never demanded an explanation for his disbelief, I merely said that I could just as easily ask for an explanation just as he did for the other guys belief, yet it would just come out the same way, even if its with science that you try to explain existance it still comes out the same as if you were trying to explain religion, the most you can do for either is give unproven theorys such as the big bang theory or the Christian theory of God. I'm just saying there is no way to prove or disprove religion so there is no reason to get into an unnecessary fight over it and get these discussions banned again. To me there is an important difference between mind and soul. I'd say mind is a construct that can dissolve and cease to exist. Soul or even more so "a soul" is some eternal essence. I have to admit though that i use both words without much thought of definition myself. What I'm saying is that it just seems to be a waste gathering all the knowledge and wisdom throughout life if we just lose it all after death.
  21. To me it would seem that life would be completly pointless if the minds we spent years to develop just ceased to exist once we died, so I would have to lean toward us having souls rather than not, of course there is always the possibility that life is pointless and we do cease to exist after death. But the only way to truly know for sure at the moment is to die. See, that's just thinking too much about mythology. I can understand the need to think we humans, who can feel empathy, have souls, but a burning mass of hydrogen  ? That's pushing it. And where do you draw a line for a soul in living organisms? Zebras? Rats? Flies? Bacteria? There is no line to be made. The logic of the concept is just... nonexistent. From a human perspective anyways :| . I don't draw a line. Maybe soul is something inherent to anything. Maybe matter is just an expression of soul. A mountain may have soul to. It may also have consciouness. Could it be? Yes, yes it is! References to paganist religions! I was waiting for this, just to see how people would react. Now kind sir or madam, I ask you to back up your claim, so we can turn it into a discussion point. Personally, I like talk about the old religions though I don't believe in any of them. =P Why must he back it up? Hes expressing his belief, not ordering you to believe in it, I could just as easily ask you to back up your disbelief in religion, yet all you or anyone would be able to do is answer with unproven theorys, so I would advise you to not start a useless and unnecessary arguement, especially seeing as religious discussion has already been banned before due to them.
  22. Alexander Dumas(The Count of Monte Cristo and The Three Musketeers)/Sir Arthur Conan Doyle(Sherlock Holmes) I doubt I will ever hold another author in higher regard than I do these two.
  23. The developers realize that the PS3 isn't going to be able to sell as many copies as the PS2 did, so they went to Microsoft instead knowing that the Xbox360 will be able to sell more copies and thus make them more money in the long run due to its popularity.
  24. It doesn't have to be intellectual, it just doesn't have to be idiotic and disgusting[/i] I have to agree with this, the two chats I've been in so far weren't very appropriate, its not making this enjoyable at all, and it seemed I wasn't the only one who thought that during them.
  25. I used to have my hair down to my shoulders but only because my girlfriend at the time liked it, now my hair is short in back and long in front(Down to the tip of my nose if I pull it straight but it curls to the side enough that it just barely goes below my eyes(And, no I'm not "emo", I just like it this way)).
