  1. I know quite a few parents who basically stop supporting their kids around 16/17 years old. The only things they'll provide them with are necessities (food/shelter) and the kids have to go get jobs if they want to be able to have gas in their cars, pay for insurance, go out with friends, etc. It's hard to cut back on a job when you need money and cutting back on school is not an option. While I believe high schools are merely the gov'ts way of getting us ready for minimum wage jobs (if we choose not to futher our education), it's still important to graduate if you plan on making it in the world without working your [wagon] off only to dig yourself a deeper hole.

I like to start speeches with a statement or question I want my listeners to keep in mind while they listen to what I have to say. I also like to keep my visual aids short and simple when they involve text. Generally it'll just be a few words making a point and helping me remember what I'm talking about next. Avoiding filler words is also something I worked hard on when I took a speech class (boring as hell listening to everyones' speeches). A general rule I learned in that class was not to lean on the podium, slouch, etc but I find I'm more willing to listen to someone who looks relaxed/at ease and connected with the audience than someone who's standing up there like a statue trying to be "perfect".
  3. Just to make it clear (in case you're not aware), Off Topic is fairly well populated with retired players. Many of us don't care about Runescape anymore nor are we going to play to relieve stress. Not meaning to be rude, it just seems by your responses you think we all still play.
  4. Either way, you know they have their hands tied in the money somewhere. If they don't pass the bill and let the banks fail, then they'll need to be re-elected if they want a chance at making their money back. If they weren't tied in these companies, then they could vote down the bill, let the banks go under and still have their money. On top of that, the public would be more willing to re-elect them because they're working for the people instead of themselves.
  5. You're an idiot. A majority of our leaders are in favor of this bill and a majority of our citizens are against this bill. At this point it's looking to me like it's going to pass. Tell me how voting against this bill is the popular thing to do when it looks like it's going to pass. Because in case you hadn't noticed, it's not the leaders that are electing them, it's the citizens who pay the tax for it... They're in power right now. We can't just nix them and find someone who's on our side in the middle of their term because they're not running things the way we want it done.

  7. Last I knew Trapical rarely came around here. I have a feeling if anyone messages him it will be a very long time before they get a response, if they ever manage to get one. I messaged him (his last login wasn't very long ago) and if he has them (with his permission) will post it here for you guys. Ah, it seems you're right. I suppose I never notice him because he makes maybe 3 or 4 posts per month :-k
  8. Yes, they're important. But as it's been stated before, just because they file bankruptcy doesn't mean they disappear. They'll basically be taken over by new management, liquidate some assets, and lay off some people until they get up and going again. I know, the loss of jobs would suck but I'd rather see those people feel the pain many of us are feeling than to have them keep their jobs and dump the debt on us via taxes. The gov't can print up all the money it wants to, it's just going to hurt us even more by decreasing the value of our dollar. It's not worth putting a band-aid on a foot long gash, why try to put a band-aid on such a huge problem? You all know as well as I do that this $700b isn't going to save us for long. A few months, maybe a year tops. But after that we're out $700b and we've got the same damn problems. Also, I hope the House votes this down. Our leaders are merely showing their stupidity and arrogance when so many citizens are clearly against this bill. I think it's time we come together and take down our corrupt gov't. They're no longer there for the citizens of this nation, just for themselves. And people should not fear their gov't, a gov't should fear it's people. Land of the free my [wagon]. We're the laughing stock of the world right now.
  9. Agreed. It works wonders on your body and mind :)

  11. And now the gov't wants to reward them for taking those risks by bailing them out. I don't my family being bailed out because our business went down the drain (after 10 years) thanks to this damn economy. We're losing everything and the gov't doesn't care. But when some big company makes stupid choices the gov't is right there to hold their hand.

Just curious.. Do you have any clue what features an iPhone has besides being able to call people? The iPhone seems to me to be the iTouch with all the features of a phone packed into it (though I've never really compared the features of each). I don't own one because I'm a poor man, so I just guessed. What I basically mean is that they should have all of the functionality of an iPod mixed into an iPhone. Maybe to boost profits, they can also sell memory cards. iPhones basically have a built in iPod. Also, you don't need to be rich or own a product to know the features of a product. I'm very poor and don't own an iPhone yet I know this. Also memory cards are a bad idea imo. Built in memory is better for the consumer because you don't need to buy "extras" to get your product to work at an acceptable level.

Why don't you just post under your normal account? We all know you and TheChamp are the same person.. Anyways on topic: I was going to take psychology but the class was full. Ended up taking sociology this year which I think is a very valuable class. I recommend you take that if you ever get a chance.
  15. west philadelphia born and raised, on the playground is where you spent most of your days? Chillin' out, maxin', relaxin' all cool and all shootin some b-ball outside of the school?
  16. What if it makes perfect sense? I have a book of teachings by many zen masters and at first none of what they said made sense. But the more I think about it, the more I understand what they're getting at. Also, I wouldn't say finding your inner self and such is a waste of time, but might be better done at a later time. I've been trying to meditate once in a while lately and it's incredibly relaxing.
  17. I'm going to nicely ask you to leave OT now. You may return in 4 years, or as soon as you mature enough to know "noob" is not the proper way to describe somebody in a real life situation.

  19. Doesn't that alone make you want to have a smoke? ;) I know I want to. Amen. Sometimes I don't even post when I get on. I just close it out after a few topics and hope something decent is here when I get on again.
  20. Because if taxpayers don't then we could end up in another Great Depression that would not only effect you but your children and they rest of the world. Don't be such self-centred [cabbage] and try to think about why you pay taxes at all. EDIT: Also you didn't impress/intimidate anyone by writing out $700b in numbers, we all know how much it is. They're approaching this the wrong way altogether. They're going to save these big businesses and let the rest of us rot and pay for it. It's not going to solve anything. Most of us know why we pay taxes, and we don't pay taxes to save big businesses that are going to give nothing back to us besides more products and such (which we will continue to pay for). I think you need to think about why we pay taxes. You'd have to be an idiot to think this bailout is actually going to save our economy for more than a few months. How about instead of giving that $700b to a few companies, they instead split it up between the citizens age 18+. Know what we could do with that money? Pay back those loans that got these banks in so much trouble. If you just hand the banks the money then everyone with loans is still in deep [cabbage] while banks making bad decisions just got off the hook and it going to continue coming after you for the money you owe them. And eventually they'll make the same stupid mistakes again. Also, you're even more of an idiot if you think he was trying to impress or intimidate anyone by writing out $700b. $700b doesn't look like much but when you put all the zeros on there you get a better realization of what we're talking about.
  21. Heh, I was just thinking of making a topic like this over the past few days. As of right now my fanancial situation is terrible. My car just got repoed and my parents vehicle is going to be repoed in the next few weeks (yay for bankruptcy). So my parents are going to be very little help when college comes besides letting me stay with them while I go to a local college. So right now I'm planning on taking a year off after I graduate this spring, working full time (putting as much money away as I can), then buying my own vehicle, and having a good amount of money left for college.
  22. Yes, what you're doing is toning lifts. High reps - low/med weight. I suppose Rarex and I should have been more clear that the reps we were talking about are muscle building lifts.
  23. At my school there's no need to go into a bathroom to kiss/make out. It's fairly well accepted to just go at it in the hallway.
  24. The real difference between 10 and 8 reps would be the amount of weight you lift. If you're only wanting to hit 8 reps, throw on some extra weight. If you want 10 reps, you might want to go a little lighter to make sure you hit your mark. It's all up to the person lifting. Personally I like 8 because I'm done lifting quicker, even though I had to work a little harder for my reps. And you're right, 10 reps is more common.
  25. I don't consider myself "skinny" nor do I ever plan on being "skinny". I have a friend who is 6'1" 130lbs. I'm 5'7" 155lbs. Of course, a year without lifting or exercise besides karate 3 nights a week has left me with a nice layer of fat over my abs and some muscle loss. If I started eating healthy and running I could drop down to 145 in 2 weeks, easily. My plan is to get on that then start lifting once my weight is down and steady. I wasn't talking about you lol, I was responding to Zox's large post :P Roger that. Remind me to sleep more :-k
