Hunter - advice needed
That guide's a pretty good guide, but I've found that this guide is much more practical. Also, here is a guide specifically for hunting red chinchompas:

99 Woodcutting
It depends on how you get it. Cutting yews from 78-99 took me upwards of 4 months (I did play quite a bit of Castle Wasr, though :P ), but even willows aren't likely to get the exp rate much higher than 50k exp/hour (yews are about 30k exp/hour).

The Quest cape requires 262 quest points.

Spyder's blog! QUIT RS!! Kind of...:-P
Good luck with 99 woodcut!! Don't get discouraged by the slow exp rates. If I can get 99 wc from cutting yews, so can you (or you can cut willows, but that's the wimpy way to do it :XD:).

This is a pretty good idea. I have to admit, that quest looks fun and the rewards are even better!

Junk Trading: Acceptable, Practical Practice?
I agree with your statements about how wasteful it is to purposely go out and gather junk items. However, I have to disagree with the rest of your post. The reason that the GE is broken is not that the players believe it is broken. It's the fact that the GE is incapable of keeping up with the player economy. If prices in the GE match those determined by supply and demand, then there simply wouldn't be a need for junk trading and people would use the GE because of how easy it would be in comparison to trading directly with other players. As for your example of a 3rd Age Mage Hat, it evidently is worth it to those people who are buying them. If it weren't they, obviously, wouldn't be buying them at that price and sellers would have lowered their prices in order to find buyers. This also goes the other way around. If it weren't worth it for the sellers, then they simply wouldn't do it. It's simply supply and demand at work.

Guide to RuneScape's new Graphics - Do YOU meet the Req's?
Alright. Thanks for all the advice.

Guide to RuneScape's new Graphics - Do YOU meet the Req's?
Exactly. You are already using system ram. Your graphics card is smarter then you when it comes to deciding how much to use, and generally picks the best balance for optimum performance. If your graphics card is using too much memory, the game will not be running as fast due to the lack of memory space available to the operating system. Newer graphics cards can do this on the fly. So, would you recommend that I change it back to 32 mb and see if it works (once it is released, of course) or is it fine to just leave it at a higher setting (I still have plenty of RAM available for everything else I'll be using the computer for)? As for newer ones automatically adjusting, all I can say is that I know this is as new as at least late 2004 (I got it for free from my grandparents' business and the only date I can find is November 2004, but that's just from the revision history section of the User's Guide).

That's really not going to help much, the main problem is that system memory is far, far (as in several orders of magnitude) slower then onboard memory. Still, it could improve performance a bit... Jagex said they would allow you to adjust the detail and visible features on the new detail mode, so it may help those with weaker graphics cards tune down some of the settings while retaining the updated look. As far as I can tell, it was already using system memory. On the first page of the dxdiag, it had already stated that it only had 992 mb of RAM when I know for a fact that I have 1024 mb installed (2 sticks of 512 mb that I installed myself) and this decreased ajust as much as the graphics RAM increased. However, I do not know much about how all this works and I wouldn't be very surprised if I was wrong.

Woot!! I went into my computer's BIOS and was able to give my graphics card more RAM. \ It's a good thing I never really do anything that would require all my RAM to work. :P

Thanks or the info. Looks like I'll just have to wait and see, then.

I know my laptop can handle it, but I'm not sure about my desktop computer. I know it has a gig of RAM and a 2.2 GHz processor, but I'm not sure if the graphics card will work. They say nVidia GeForce 3 or higher will work and mine says it's nVidia GeForce 4 MX Integrated GPU, but it only has 32 MB RAM. Here's a screenshot of my dxdiag just in case:

There are several guides that can be found in the Player-Made Guides: Skills, Mini Games & Quests forum. Here's one guide that might interest you. I'd recommend Muggi's guide, but it seems to have been corrupted by the rollback.

Old Ways To Make Money?
I remember, back when I started (about 6 months before the official release of RS2), that I used to mine ores, smith them into armor, and then sell them to shops. Then, when RS2 came out, for some reason it just wasn't a good money-maker anymore. I think it was from more people taking advantage of the new mining and smithing systems and loading up the stores, but I can't remember for sure. As for looking back on this and other ways I've made money over the years, yeah, I have a few methods that were quite insane (think crafting 45k ess into air runes, without runners, on f2p  ).

Hidden Puffin?
Well, for all we know, that could just be part of the graphical update itself with the new bird being there simply to make it more realistic like they did with seagulls all those months (years?) ago. Either that, or it's just an upgrade to an existing bird that nobody pays attention to. I highly doubt they'd get much money for something that small and insignificant, anyways. Not to mention the fact that you had to remember that company's name on your own. Not a very good way to advertise if it did happen to be an advertisement.

Junk Trading: Acceptable, Practical Practice?
Jagex said they were going to leave control of prices and the economy in the hands of the players. So, no, what Jagex says does not go. This may be like a dictatorship, but even dictatorships, in order to have a thriving economy, must let supply and demand determine prices. And have you ever thought about the simple fact that Jagex could go in and manually change prices and/or change the way the GE works in order to correct prices? Because I'm going to tell you right now that, for players to "fix" the GE by using it, it would cost them millions, if not bilions, of gp to get prices to where they should be and, even if they did that, there'd be no guarantee that the GE's prices would continue to reflect supply and demand.

Junk Trading: Acceptable, Practical Practice?
First off, you just pointed out another problem with the GE that needs to be fixed by Jagex by saying that "the GE will not work with high value, low demand items because they are almost never sold or bought." Secondly, I've already stated that, if the GE's price reflected the true price determined by supply and demand, people would use it instead of person-to-person trades due to how convenient it is and that continuing to use the GE while the GE's price differs from the true price would be a waste of money. And on the issue of the demand for these sorts of items, there obviously has to be some at the price that junk traders are trading at because, if there wasn't, they wouldn't be trading at those prices. Also, were Jagex to lower the prices of every overpriced item to where they should be, the demand would greatly increase as more people, who would be willing to buy them at the current junk trade price, but don't have the junk, would enter the market and help keep the price at equilibrium even more. First of all, I don't see how the GE knows there are still "unresolved" trades out there. From what I can tell from the specs, the GE only pays attention to the result of the actual trades that took place. Here it is, if you didn't catch it: ...Ergo, if it hasn't been traded from one player to another, it doesn't care. Now, if it were to automatically lower 5% after a set period of time, that would be rather nice. However, I believe that I've noticed such a trend already occurring... Take a look at the 30-day history of Partyhats, and you'll a 5%-like dent in their price, every 15-25 days. It is understood that the GE currently only determines prices from completed trades. That's why the suggestion to have it also look at uncompleted trades has come up as a way to make prices change daily instead of maybe once or twice a month and help to make junk trading a waste of time and energy due to the viability of the GE. Correct, the GE is a tool. However, it is a flawed tool that only Jagex can fix. If Jagex were to fix it so that it could keep up with the economy, then people would use it. It's not that people are stubborn, it's that they don't want to lose a bunch of hard-earned money trying to keep this "tool" updated. 1) No item on the GE exists like that. 2) Where are you getting the 15M from, if an item happened to exist like that? It doesn't matter that an item like that doesn't exist, the principle remains the same. Nobody's going to willingly sell something on the GE when they know that there are people out there willing to pay much more for it than the GE will let them because it's a waste of potential money. And this works the other way around too. If somebody wants to buy something, but they know the price on the GE is much higher than the street price, then they're going to buy it for the street price and save the extra money for something else. There will, of course, be a few exceptions to these rules, but those are miniscule and the only affect they have is that one price change every 15-25 days that could be easily turned into a price change once or twice a day (not sure how often they'd pdate prices if they used both completed and uncompleted trades).
