hmm okay these days i keep seeing dead animals in the road. Grrr it's mating season too many dead deers and plus they cutting trees down..

dead poassiums, and rabbit all this week. I think they should have some type of animal control. Or something made to stop these animals from crossing the road.. Anyone else seeing too many dead animals on the road...

wanna play ??^_^ total=1650+ =)

Ah, the roadkill topic. What's there to do? It's unfortunate but it's not like we can build thick fences around every road to keep animals from crossing. Maybe over time this type of pressure will help them to evolve positive traits that favor not getting into those messes in the first place. (I realize I'm talking nonsense, evolution takes hundreds of thousands of years).

We get deer around our area. Lots of deer  .

Roadkill is terrible :( Sometimes people just aren't paying attention, but other times animals do jump out in front of your car at the last minute and you can't stop in time. Either way, it's sad :(

The most horrifying experience for me was when we were driving and passed someone who had just hit a baby deer. The deer was still alive, but its back legs looked crippled and he was trying to drag himself to the side of the road :(

We have around 10 pheasants lying dead along the side of the road within the 1-mile stretch from my house to town. I do my best to clear them off the road, because lazy idiots just keep running them over. Same with cats or other animals, people don't care and just keep on going. It makes me kind of angry.

I really wouldn't call it an era. It was more of a definitive time period during which dinstinctive characteristics were expressed in similar ways.

I see squirrels, raccoons, skunks and the like as roadkill all the time. It's only saddening if it's a cat or dog or something like that.

If it's fresh, you can use it as food.

Well i actually feel bad for road kill unlike most of the idiots here who would laugh or eat it?

What the hell, what would possess someone to go pick up roadkill and take it back home to eat.

Let's face it, the populations of the animals that end up being roadkill are growing ridiculously fast. It's basically a method of population control despite the grotesque nature of it. I really don't think people purposely try and kill animals that cross the street, it happens in a matter of seconds when someone isn't paying attention or a dumb animal decides to jump in front of your car.

Are you kidding?!

I'd feel more sorry for the poor sod who accidentally slams into a deer in anything smaller than a truck.

No one eats it? I heard in one U.S. state, they have an annual road kill cook off. I can't say I was surprised by it.

Trial and error is a nice way to learn...

Now get out there and hit some pheasants!

I had a bird stuck to the front of my car once. I've hit countless other birds, as well as squirrels, and a dog once. I've almost wrecked twice avoiding hitting deer, which are extremely common around here. I didn't try to avoid any of the other animals.

There are alot of road kills near me, squirrels, rabbits, badgers, pheasant, deer, fox, hedgehogs. But some of them arn't killed on the road, but by farmers who then put them near the road so they look like they've been hit.

A deer also ran out infront of our car, we hit it (not intentionally) and left a nice big dent and some of its hair in the door, and it managed to survive.

Road kill is rare in Uk, we see some pigions and foxes, some people put them in plastic bags and do prank stuff with them; throwing a dead pigion in someones letter box, or an open car window when the person is on the traffic light is quet fun.

A friend to all is a friend to none.

I've never really seen alot of roadkill, but ive seen a dead fox in the road.

It was literally flattened, like a rug, but on its side, as if it never had any bones. it was funny because of the way it was flattened, a bit like coyote from looney tunes

I see the occasional squashed pigeon once in a while. :P

I dont see much, but my cousin, for some deranged reason, takes joy in taking picture of them on his phone. :-X

I've seen a bird sticking out the grill of a car - that was disgusting... :-X

I've seen lots of rabbits, birds and foxes flattened on the road. It's not the animals fault, they don't see a road and think danger they'll just see the road and think ah a different piece of terrain - ooh was that a over there? Dash across the road and be smacked by an oncoming vehicle. It's our fault. Most of the time the road kill is not on urban roads but in the country. Their habitat. I think that more should be done to prevent animals dying on the roads. For us brits who might be charged per mile they travel on the road, they could charge more to use country roads and less for urban routes. Before people think I'm for this pay as you go road tax, I am not. But if it comes into play, we may aswell utilise it to save the lives of innocent wildlife.
