BoD
For those of you who read todays news, when killed with the barrelchested anchor, it will drop 230k gp instead of the actual weapon. Now supposedly for all those people who do not use this weapon, you could use unidentified liquid to get to low health, fight white knights in the castle to purposely die, and respon to pick up the 230k. This means that you just made 180k since you spent 50k to repair the anchor. jimbob9999
He said for people who don't intend to use it, those people won't bother repairing it. It seems pretty stupid to me, considering they introduced a skill partly to drain money out of runescape. My Blog To 87 Construction

Who
You people don't get what he's saying. That technique is for people that want to make an easy 180k, and use D Scimmy/Rune Defender for Strength training, which is now better because of the speed change. So basically, if you don't want the anchor. The Complete MTA Handbook | Runecrafting Pouch Analysis | Mobilizing Armies Locator Index
Screechingmu
Yeah its a good idea to make quick cash, but if you ever want it back either because it looks cool, for training, or perhaps for a future quest, you will regret making that quick buck in the past and have to shell out the gp for a new one. TheZephyrus
Similarly you can sell your crystal seed from Roving Elves, but in doing so you lose out on a good weapon. Click (above) for my blog!!
Stilev
personally i think thats not the bightest idea in the world, but hey if you want the quick 180k go right ahead. i would just keep it in case i need it later.
Thus
i doubt it will cause a money inflation hazard. I mean, I doubt enough people even have the requirements to do this quest (including the willingness to do rum deal, cabin fever, etc)
Shadow93
since it costs 50k to repair it first time, and 50k second time, and 700k 3rd time, wouldn't players who won't ever need to use the anchor just drop it twice and get 360k? (230k + 230k - 50k -50k) because that's almost free 1/3 of a mil if you've done the quest before this update
InkofDeath
Wasn't the anchor same speed as whip? they said slightly decreased, so I'd imagine its not slower or faster then a d scimmie, it it wasn't in the first place. Although 180k isn't that much, plus if you ever needed it for a level 3 clue, or some new quests, well you've just done something dumb basically. Remember jagex may have other uses planned for it as well. I wouldn't do it.
Lighs
Yes, you can make a 180k profit. That means that if you'd rather get 180k for a quest reward instead of the weapon, you can. So? 180k as a reward for a somewhat long and slightly challenging quest is not unreasonable, even if Jagex has never given out that much cash before. I'm also guessing that you'd get 230k when you alch the anchor as well, but I personally wouldn't risk it.
aj926
180K isn't huge, and if you do the quest you will know what I mean when i say it is well worth it to keep the anchor.

Second, dont call me a bug abuser, i said theoretically speeking, meaning that I have not done it. Im just giving a tip to those out there that it would be better than dropping it on the floor like a useless item. If its bug abuse than a mod can lock this and hide the contents or something. lost rights to my dark red text >:( 12/20/06 - QUEST CAPE OF ACHIEVEMENTBarrows sets: guthan, verac, dharok, maybe ahrim eventually <- lost to a hacker whole stole everything of worth from my bank
Nabbagad
To never use it just for 180k isn't worth it. BoD
truthfully ive never even tried this weapon out except for once on a jungle horror. Im just saying for those of us who use whips and such, i dont see the point of just leaving the weapon to collect dust in the bank. lost rights to my dark red text >:( 12/20/06 - QUEST CAPE OF ACHIEVEMENTBarrows sets: guthan, verac, dharok, maybe ahrim eventually <- lost to a hacker whole stole everything of worth from my bank
