Actually, many gays are not gay by choice. They cannot force their hormones to act in a specific way against specific people, that's not the way it works. Using your theory, you could flip it the other way as well and say that you (yes, I mean you) could try really really hard and force yourself to have sexual emotions against other men. Sure you could physically force yourself, but you can't actually change your hormones.

I guess I'm not normal then :P If another female asked me out, it's really not a big deal. In fact, I doubt I would treat the situation no differently than if it were a guy. I would be flattered that they asked (even if it were another girl. No, I am not sexually attracted to them, but it's always nice to know that you're appreciated - by any gender), but politely tell them "no."

Don't ask, Don't tell means you can not commit a homosexual act, or disclose homosexual tendencies while serving in the military, and the military is not allowed to go on a "witch hunt" to oust alleged homosexuals.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now let me give you some real world examples that I have dealt with in the last 8 months.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

One of my sailors ( I am a senior Chief in the US Navy on board a super carrier deployed in Iraq area) was arrested by Virginia police for solicitation of prostitution from a male undercover officer posing as a male prostitute...the sailor was male also. He was found guilty in a civilian court of law. Upon finding this out, I went to our Legal department and said "hey, this is clearly telling" obviously he is homosexual.....the Legal department and Navy Judge told me "we don't pursue those types of cases"....oh really. Lucky for me, in 2004 they also passed a Zero Tolerance to human trafficking law in the military, this means if you get caught soliciting or prostituting, you get discharged. I turned that information over to Legal, and they flew him off the ship for Special Court Martial for the charges of "soliciting of prostitution" and "conspiracy to commit a deviant sex act"....he might get prison time. good.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Another of my sailors was arrested crossdressing and prostituting..he was brand new to the navy, hadn't been on board our ship 3 days....Goodbye, same law applied (zero tolerance) he deserted before we could prosecute him, he was arrested 4 months later in another state for crossdressing and prostitution....sick.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A friend of the family reported to me that she had seen a myspace page profile with a navy sailor off of the ship next to mine, who clearly stated under preference: Gay and proud. I notified his Captain and Command Master Chief....a week later his profile changed to preference: undecided. That is all that happened, they told him to change it, no further prosecution happened.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So in reality it is not "Don't ask, don't tell", but rather just dont "ask", they can tell all they want, the Navy doesn't want to prosecute it unless they get arrested for it....and they don't go looking for it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

There are several guys and girls on my ship (which has over 5,000 sailors on it) that are clearly of the "alternate" lifestyle....no one cares, no one says anything to them, if you do, YOU get prosecuted for creating a hostile work environment...nothing happens to them. Thats in the don't ask, dont tell policy.

I really don't think our Country should even be tainted by homos..but..they have rights too. So long as they don't go doing 'things' with unwilling other soldiers, they can be there for all I care.
