March 25, 200719 yr Not true, physical restrictions and advantages may play key roles in some types of fame (say for example wealth and Paris Hilton) but the only true thing stopping you from achieving something great is yourself. Yea, so it's easier for other people than you, but get over it, life's not fair, you have to fight for what you want. Persistence is key. You=said person. What if "said person" doesn't want anything at all? then what? in the end of it all, nothing from this life will matter. Continuum, do you mind if i hug you? heh >.>
March 25, 200719 yr What if "said person" doesn't want anything at all? then what? in the end of it all, nothing will matter. That's just it, that's the kind of attitude that puts you in the original posters place. I guess this can be ended by, whatever floats your boat I guess. Me doing staff.
March 25, 200719 yr Okay, here's an argument for the people who seem to feel the need to repeat themselves over and over in saying that what they do means nothing to the universe. What we do, no matter how little we do, we always make a difference on every level. Whether it being moving our arms to slightly change the course of the wind, or putting an end to the Civil War. It doesn't matter how little or great something seems from your limited perspective, our existence makes a difference. Think of it like voting, if you can't understand it. When you vote, you add one measly number to the millions of votes going towards candidates. To our minds, it seems like nothing, pointless. To us, 1/300 million = 0. Wana know why? It's not because it's true, it's because our mind comprehend their size and magnitude of what we do at such small levels. Same goes for high levels- like how one fails to understand the size of something once you starting going into the trillions. Our minds can't comprehend it at those levels (such as our arm blocking), but the difference is there. If the difference wasn't there, then every election would be a draw. For those of you who are lazy to do anything right now, think of the world five hundred years from now. Now, think of what you can do now that can make that world in the future better. Try to WANT to make a difference in the world of today, and of later generations. Personally, I want the world five hundred years from now to be worse without me existing today than if I did exist today. I want to make things better for other people, and you should too if you aren't heartless bastards. Stop giving into fatalism, get off your [wagon], and do something for the world. Didn't we already get a fatalism speech? Are you just repeating this for us? Not the same thing, I'm backing my "fatalism speech" with Reason. And I'm telling you your little "fatalism speech" is bull. By the way, great use of rhetoric totally turning your point around in the second to last paragraph. Oh: In case you didn't catch it, I was referring to fat in my post- I recall that he made a post very much like this a few weeks ago. I wasn't referring to you there when I said "repeating" :-w . I never said it doesnt make a difference, i just said that the difference we make would not matter at the end of life. Who honestly cares what happens 500 years from now, you won be able to know about it. You wont exist anymore and everyone will have forgotten you. You think anyone will remember (insert ANY famous person here) 500 years from now? No. why? BECAUSE THEY HAVE MOVED ON!
March 25, 200719 yr How old are you, you maladjusted, pretentious dingbat? Oh dear, it seems you're a [wagon]. hehe. He was probably joking, being as pretentious means using big words to seem smart... I wasn't joking. This fatalist crap is what I expect to see from angsty fourteen year-olds who want to sound profound by spouting some crap about how nothing in life matters, and they're so hardcore they're willing to kill themselves or anyone without a second thought. It's indicative of an individual who hasn't actually taken the time to formulate their own honest opinions about life, and thus fall back to a fatalist philosophy. There's no logical reason for a well-adjusted member of society to say that life sucks, nothing matters and they'll do whatever they want, and the hell with what anyone else says because nothing matters. Besides, if they actually believed the absurd rhetoric that comes out of their mouths half as much as they like to say they do, they would have put themselves on the end of a short rope long ago. Except they haven't. Because they're stubborn cowards who refuse to admit that they don't actually have anything profound to contribute. Now I've got to watch Eureka 7, be back in half an hour. Be assured my thoughts (posts on this thread) are sincere, they are my true thoughts. As you can see if we wanted to be "accepted" we wouldn't leak out thoughts like this, to be flamed by close minded people like you. If i wanted to be accepted i would have said the same things as most of you all have said.
March 25, 200719 yr Why the hell are you assuming we're lazy? Why can't people have a debate without any insulting, instead of an argument with someone going "lazy [wagon], lazy [wagon], lol" every five seconds? As for "repeating over and over again", it's called defending. Now then, with that out of the way, let's proceed to defend. You're comparing something that humanity controls, voting, to the major things that we can't (yet) like the Sun s'ploding. I agree with you for the "levels of difference", but simple ones, from moving arms to ending the Civil War, have no effect whatsover on the fact that the Sun is going to s'plode. Yes, I know I keep coming back to the Sun s'ploding, but it's such a good example of something that's eventually going to happen and we can't change it. Yet. Like I said before, I sincerly hope I'm wrong, and that we can change the Sun s'ploding. As for laziness, why don't you think before you talk? If we were really that lazy, that stupid, we would not own a computer, or have privileges as to using a computer, and thus couldn't be debating with you in the first place. I'm not lazy. I'm getting A's in school. Sure, I don't do sports-not my things, but whatever. It's quite stereotypical and, quite frankly, rude of you to assume that people like myself are lazy. This is my belief. (For God's sake, what the hell is wrong with you people? Is it really necessary for your idiotic egos to keep on insulting the other party over and over? Do you really think that makes your argument more convincing? God! By the way, anyone think I'm angsty? It's not that I'm basing my self-esteem off your judgment, I'm just trying to decide whether it's worthless to debate with you or whether you think my argument might actually hold some water.) Zonorhc, I dislike you.
March 25, 200719 yr Umm, psychotic? Going back to the example you used about pulling the trigger on someone, even if you could "detach yourself" for the moment, you would have to live with the guilt for the rest of your life. If you kept detaching, it would probably all build up inside of you and drive you crazy, although I'm not sure if you would be much different than you are now. But seriously, I would see a psychologist or a neuro-doctor type person. All you have to do is pretend it didn't happen. If you tell yourself "i never did (so and so)" enough times. you will believe you have never done it. and it will not affect you at all.
March 25, 200719 yr ~ Then stop thinking about the sun, and think of the millions of generations that would come before the sun would explode. Live your life for people, for those who need your help. And c'mon, going to school (which you have to do anyways), and sitting at your computer with your parents money isn't exactly what I'd call a rebuttal for not being lazy. Oh, and fly, not to sound like I'm going with society on this one, but see a psychiatrist. March 25, 200719 yr rebdragon, why can't you just accept people for who they are.. I am not a murderer, nor do i intend to be one. Im just expressing my feelings..

March 25, 200719 yr Pfft, stop being such a depressed nihilist. You're no idea how lucky you are to be alive, and this is all we've got, so make the most of it and enjoy it. Stand for beauty and righteousness, be happy, love, spread joy. "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"

Dude, I've played video games that make me feel that life is worth something (probably sounds a bit wierd but meh). There is meaning in life wherever you look, if your eyes are open.
March 25, 200719 yr Author so from what i've read so far there seems to be 4 types of people: 1. people who believe in the same sort of reasoning as me. 2. the people who accept what i said, but don't care. Theyre happy to be a nothing and, just live life beause its there, like my example in the post, they have been set a path to walk, they are not going to stop walking, and there not going to struggle there [wagon] off to try and change the direction of their path, theyr'e just guna walk the path, because they can. Which is actually the same way i look at life, but you all seem to be saying don't commit suicide and live like this, but anyway, hope you read this so you know im not suicidal 8-) 3. The people who just plain refuse to accept what i said. The people who are hypocrites, they only look at the good points in life and completley ignore the bad, and these people are just as bad as those who only look at the negative. 4. those who accept both, and say theres more good than bad in the world, and justify there meaning by trying to have a reason for their being. Your existance is meaningless im sorry to say, the whole universe is without a reason other than to exist, which is what your reason is because you are inside the universe, now the people who deny this fit into band 4, they just refuse to accept this, prehaps its because once they accept it they have no reason to do anything, which is the way i feel now. living without emotion lets you do anything like killing someone or killing yourself. Its really not that hard, just top thinking, and only think about the simplistic things, like squeezing the trigger, don't think about the reprucusions just do that. try it for a day is all im saying, prehaps you can understand how other people think. it's intresting to see how people will frantically try and give meaning to everything they do, just so they can feel good about what they do. ignorance is bliss. rushrock you are welcome to post by the way :

March 25, 200719 yr Go travelling, experience the world. Sure, this may mean nothing in the long run but you may as well have a good time "existing" while you can. Honestly, you've no idea how lucky you are to be able have such a privaleged bleak outlook. It could be so much worse for you, make the most of what you've got, because i'm getting the vibe that you don't deserve it. "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"
