Awhile back rs had a vague mention of a group chat system update, this would allow players to form their own groups/clans in-game. Does anyone remember this mentioned(!?!), if so post your thoughts and try to get this back on the priority list. :thumbsup:

Yes, I remember it was when JaGex had fight with SS (SwiftSwitch).

 

 

 

Now JaGex have made their own "worldswitcher" but group chat is still missing... :wall:

There's no need to "remind" them about it, If it's going to happen, It's Being worked on now. It's not a matter of copy and paste, they have to design and test it first.

They said they were going to make it in February.

I remember vaguely the mention of clan support around the time RS2 was released. Whether this idea is still in the works at Jagex or whether it has been dropped - I have no idea.

Well, I personally feel JaGex needs a lot more clan support in game, weather its a whole new "friends list" with clan members, or a "clan guild" JaGEx deffinitly needs more clan support...

I am assuming they are working on it. As somebody said, it will take time to perfect. I have been wrong before, though...

Just be patient, its probably something really huge and takes a lot of programming.

Well considering it's such a huge thing, they can't just make it in a week. Most of their teams are busy with scheduled updates, and this one was sort of an unplanned update so can't be easy adding it to the workload.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

They added the world switcher, that shows they're slowly but surely working on making a better client that will include clan chat.

I'm sure it will come in time. Just be patient! :wink:

Further to that I just want to clarify a few extra things:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

1) We're absolutely NOT going to ban people who used such world-switchers historically. That would be completely unfair given we've only just mentioned this! We will of course give everyone plenty of chance to read and understand the rule, and get rid of such programs first.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2) It's only RuneScape specific add-on programs we're talking about here. You can of course still use things like msn/aim whilst playing. Just bear in mind that if you do so it's entirely at your own risk, and we won't be be able to help with abuse/scamming. (so we don't recommend it at all, but it's ultimately up to you)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3) We're also looking at adding an official 'group chat' system into the game ASAP for clans and other groups of players to use.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I'm not complaining about it, but it would be nice if Jagex would give us an estimate on this update. When I first read this I got sooo excited :XD: but now I just hope that someday it will be added :!:

A better chat facility is number one on my wishlist of updates.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I can't believe they're taking so long about it... One of the things that makes RS such a big success is its community appeal. Jagex really have to cease upon this and make the development of a proper chat engine their number one priority.

Im sure it will come out soon, it's taking a while because Jagex need to finish and updates that have already promised in BTS.
