August 6, 200916 yr True. Skillcapes should be deleted, but it's never really going to happen. Its too late, everyone will flame as if the membership fee had just been quadrupled. Click here for an awesome suggestion to revive smithing!
August 6, 200916 yr Skillcapes aren't important, therefore they shouldn't exist? Uh, no. Just no. -.- Read my blog | Follow me on Twitter | Track my XP
August 6, 200916 yr I think we should have them as it takes a lot more effort to get them. However we shall not get them: (Taken from live Q/A) -.- 06-Aug-2009 22:01:05 Q) Mage Dark39 will there be f2p skillcapes? -------------------------------------- A) No having looked into this more I'm not so sure it's the good idea I first thought it was, the big reason is there is not so much variety for free players at the really high levels and as a result I don't think its the best possible experience for our players to grind away repetitively at the same content for weeks on end. Naturally members have far more granular progression at high levels so I think this offers the best possible player experience and most importantly its more fun due to all the choice at the high levels. We are looking at other ways of recognizing our RuneScape Hero's both Free and Members alike, I expect this will be far more popular but its still in the early stages of development at the moment
August 6, 200916 yr That ends that then  If you read the 1 they posted in the forums most of things seem to be useless like having something to tell you how many monster you have killed or how many steps you have taken, which after 10 mins people will never use again unless there very bored. IM GOING TO LIVE FOREVER .......... or die trying
August 7, 200916 yr This is not the end of it by far.. Yea a lot of the things they are developing (except name change) seems useless (again.) Sorry for going off topic. :-#

Till some day you get some rather crappy alternative. I don't think skill capes should be a priority ;) it's a fun thought, but I don't need it as f2p-er, I rather have other improvements like the combat triangle, or revernant nerfing or a bury x feature :)
August 7, 200916 yr I don't think it should be a priority but JAGEX have the habit of bringing out 3 or 4 updates out at the same time. IM GOING TO LIVE FOREVER .......... or die trying
August 7, 200916 yr I don't think it should be a priority but JAGEX have the habit of bringing out 3 or 4 updates out at the same time. 4 downgrades ;)
August 7, 200916 yr I assume that means your a "JAGEX fail with all updates" person then. IM GOING TO LIVE FOREVER .......... or die trying
August 7, 200916 yr I assume that means your a "JAGEX fail with all updates" person then. Not all ;) I just rather see not much changed in f2p since many "upgrades" f2p have been getting weren't much of an upgrade in my eyes ;) I just always keep crossing my fingers hoping they will only change p2p. just something that's bred into me ;)

August 7, 200916 yr Mark Gerhard's Answers by Mod Mmg 06-Aug-2009 1) Melt The Ice asks; MMG has mentioned F2P will be updated a lot more frequently, stating that F2P is NOT A DEMO. We are working hard on a new skill, which will be available to free-to-play and members and which shows our continued commitment to the free game. We are also looking to improve some of the free quests as well as early graphics. The free-to-play game is epic - there are tens of thousands of hours of gameplay and we are working on a number of updates at the moment. ----- Yea these future updates have me jumping up and down in excitement... -.-

The new skill could be awesome or it could be the next firemaking, who knows. IM GOING TO LIVE FOREVER .......... or die trying
August 7, 200916 yr Just the fact that we are getting a new skill is amazing. Last one for F2P was, what? Runecrafting?
August 7, 200916 yr Yea Rc in 2003 :( Hopefully it lives up to expectations... It depends on your expectations are ... IM GOING TO LIVE FOREVER .......... or die trying
August 7, 200916 yr Mine are low. It'll be kind of nice to level quickly for once. Since I'll have to get the new one up to the level of my other ones.
August 7, 200916 yr Well now that our long asked question of F2P skillcapes has been answered, isn't this topic pointless? =\ Though a new skill sounds cool =D Taking a Playstation 3 break.
August 8, 200916 yr Technically, this topic is still valid as long as there are new arguments to be added. However, assuming they don't go back on their word on it, we now know it isn't in the cards.
August 8, 200916 yr The topic is "Should F2P get skillcapes," not "Will F2P get skillcapes." MMG is in charge, so I'll accept his reasoning that it would be a bad idea to encourage free players to pursue level 99 at all. It's a valid point; while the intention is to reward those free players who have 99, it would also spur other free players to train for 99 when, honestly, they shouldn't. I still think a stat-nerfed version of skillcapes would be acceptable for f2p, but not as a high priority anyway, and besides, I'm not the boss. *shrug* Read my blog | Follow me on Twitter | Track my XP
August 8, 200916 yr I agree with you, troacctid. The "lesser" version of the capes is still a good plan. And Jagex has changed their minds before, so it COULD happen again.
August 8, 200916 yr I just don't see the point of messing about with crap stats to make them even worse. IM GOING TO LIVE FOREVER .......... or die trying
