magekillr
yeah i thought this would be an interesting discussion.. what (in your opinion) is the most powerful force IE: wind, sunlight, water...etc IMO it would be water just for the fact that a.) it is where we came from by definition of evolution...and without it life wouldn't even have had a place to build molecular structures together to exist in the first place (if you believe in evolution) b.) it destroys buildings through tsunamis...and hurricanes...etc. c.) we are made of like 70%+ water... d.) we need it more than anything in the world...more than food e.) it has and is still being used for transportation methods... water is more powerful than that in survival, destructive force, and majesty.. sure there are a lot of things we need to live...but water is the most important what is the most powerful/magnificent natural force to you? whether it be by looks, importance...or w.e..doesn't matter

warri0r45
Sunlight I think. Without it everything on this planet would be dead. Full points. Sunlight is the precursor to all life. Water is another big one, being essential also, but sunlight is the key to photosynthesis or, to be crude, creating energy from carbon dioxide and water. To break it down entirely, your muscles can move as an indirect consequence of the nuclear fusion in the sun.

warri0r45
what about all of the organisms at the bottom of the ocean who don't rely on sunlight :-k Essentially every organism requires food for energy, thus, the food they eat contains energy. This can basically all be traced back to the energy plants get from the sun.

Although I've never been in one, I'd imagine a strong cyclone (or hurricanes, as many of you blokes would call them) would be scary. There was a savage one about a year ago up north from where I am and it totally killed a costal town and the bananna industry. They've both recently got back on thier feet, though. Nonono, graivty is the [cabbage], it bends fricking space-time, how cool isn't that? If there's one super-power I'd like to have it isn't: i. to make people go: "OUCH! Get that sunlight outta my face!": Tan-Man ii. to throw cows around with tornadoes: Wonder-Wind. iii. to soak people. ALOT: Waterboy. iv. To make REALLY small things stick together, unbelievably hard: Super-glue Jr. no, it's the ability to travel space and time by BENDING it, cmon people, how cool isn't that. You already do have that power, you just can't sense it since it's so miniscule  . That's right bud, you've got your own gravitational force :P . *waits for someone to slap me for calling them fat* [if you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.] Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. The basic pathways given in your second article use glucose to create ATP, as is done in us but I'm not overly sure as to how anerobic organisms get thier food or did when there was no photosynthesis to create glucose. Any ideas?
assassin_696
The most powerful force is the Strong Nuclear Force, which keeps the nuclei of atoms together. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strong_nuclear_force Bah, beat me to it. Definitely this, without this we'd all be just protons and neutrons and electrons with no place to go. And gravity is WEAK relatively compared to the others, although it has been hypothesised that this is because it acts on a much larger multi-dimensional scale, so is dissipated over a larger area and hence seems weaker to us. Celt23
Besides the Sun it's undoubtably water. Water causes powerful erosian, hurricanes, storms, rain, flooding, icebergs, tornados (water causes the conditions for tornados), tsunami's and a whole lot else.
