The max hits are likely only based on melee, which would explain Ahrim.

God damn it Muggi, I did caves last night! Meh, I still win... compiling data ATM, got 114 entries... will post when done.

Odd to find Jad has 250 HP though... All the others but Jad and his healers follow the formula of: "double combat level each succeeding monster, HP is 4/9 of combat level, max hit is 3 times 1/10 of HP + 1".

NAME COMBAT HP Max Hit

Tz-Kih 22 10 4

Tz-Kek 22 10 4

Tz-Kek 45 20 7

Tok-Xil 90 40 13 (melee, ranged)

Yt-HurKot 108 60 14

Yt-MejKot 180 80 25

Ket-Zek 360 160 49 (melee, magic)

TzTok-Jad 702 250 97 (melee, magic, ranged)

And yes, I do have all PC monsters. :)

INTERESTING NEWS!

I sent a message to Jagex about Red Dragons. Apparently "they have been assigned by various slayer masters for a long time". They are mainly assigned by Chaeldar and Duradel and give 142 xp (mothers) and 68 (babies).

Someone go try and get a reds assignment?

BIG NOTE!!!

Do you realize we've NEVER seen a monster with more than 255 HP?!

Jagex must be using an unsigned 8-bit integer to store HP! So that means 255 is the max... no monster will ever have more than 255 hits!

Skeletal Wyverns have 200 HP (woot for Monster Examine)... when I asked Jagex, they said 204... THEY LOOKED AT TIP.IT! Bad Jagex CS.

Please post pics of monster examines in the Bestiary topic http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=496519 !! Muggiwhplar did and he's been credited!!

Um. I'm a bit dense here as I've never killed the KQ. She has 255 hp for one form and 253 for another, making 498 HP total?!

About what you say in your private chat there:

I think that 97 is his max melee hit. Just like Ahrim, it gives 11 as his max hit, while his spells can hit much higher. So either or both his ranged and magic attack could hit 99.

PLENTY more where that came from. As in... 269 more and counting.

They never were a slayer monster before... so I'm wondering if it's a bug that it says they are, or they really are a slayer monster now.

theirs a bunch of errors with the monster examine, the ogres near castle wars are said to have 52 HP, but infact have 60.

blue dragons have nearly 100 hp, not sure on the exact number, but it said 35 hp for me.

Blue dragons are 105 HP. The reason your scans were inaccurate is because it scans current HP, not max. So you must scan when they are at full HP, before any damage has been done to them.

Kthnxbye.

I know they never were and I was thinking the same about CS's quality... just a bit odd that the spell says they are slayer monsters.

You spelled Dagannoth wrong, and no they're not 300 HP, it's 255. Dagannoths heal very fast and the reason the Tip.It bestiary says 331 is me... before we knew that slayer XP was NOT equal to HP, as monster examine is teaching us.

There have been so many flaws with this spell, I would think that the HP limitation is with the spell, rather than in the game itself (i.e., the spell can only report a maximum of 255 HP no matter what the actual XP is)

I don't see why that would be the case when the spell is simply printing stored numbers. Storing a value is one thing and is limited, simply calling it and printing the value on screen is another... why would they limit that to 250?

The spell reads the HP from the packet containing the monster's (that you are scanning) data and prints it out.

The spell's definitely not limited to showing 255...

The max value of an 8-bit unsigned integer is 255, however if the HP for a monster were greater than 255, they'd need to use a larger type (to store it), 16 or 32 bit. If they tried to use a type of integer lower than the one the HP is stored in, to display the data on Monster Examine, they'd get a compilation error or warning, and RuneScape could not run.

So your theory is disproved, sorry. I've also counted like 262 damage on Supreme, soloing him, right after he spawned.

Also, I don't know what you mean by "so many flaws". The only flaw is that some monsters use different max hit formulas and they haven't programmed the spell to use the right ones accordingly for all the monsters yet.

Please learn programming before speaking, Berrakus...
