____
1) Do a good job everytime and it will be noticedI'd like to agree with that but at the end of the day it's all about the bottom line. A lot of people at my work had their hours slashed and given to people who: 1. Have no concept of upselling 2. Have barely any product knowledge 3. Are ineffecient at a lot of tasks 4. Lack effective custom-service skills Reason? We were too expensive to employ for the total sales being made :uhh: I find that hard to believe given that the week before she turned up my store hit 80K for the week. And since she's been there it has struggled to hit 40k at the end of the week. And when you have a 9.9% wage budget (so for a 40k week that's only 4k allowed on wages). She was hitting around 7k for wages, even with the cheapies because they simply couldn't make the sales, upsell or even answer basic questions about products so a consumer could make up their own mind #-o On the plus - She's now been transfered to another store and our sales are on the rise again. Slowly but surely my store will be back to the 80k mark per week :)
mcneilp
I've learned that the customer is never right. No-matter what they tell you, they are always wrong. "Excuse me, do you have [insert random object that doesn't even get produced anymore] in stock. No, sorry. But i saw it yesterday! Well we haven't got any sorry. Can't you check? Hmm Ok il look through the back. (Takes 5 minute break) No we don't have any" Rinse and repeat everyday....Im surprised i haven't punched someone yet who has asked for MASH instant potatoes...WE DON'T FREAKIN' STOCK THEM! :XD: It isn't in the castle, It isn't in the mist, It's a calling of the waters, As they break to show, The new Black Death, With reactors aglow, Do you think your security, Can keep you in purity, You will not shake us off above or belowScottish frictionScottish fiction

ChickyBee32
From working as a call centre operator, I have learnt that even though people talk down to you and treat you like dirt, they still expect you to everything up to and including breaking the law to give them what they want. I have also learnt that people as whole believe they're entitled to a lot more than they actually are. Personal: I learnt last night that my ex boyfriend is gay. Wait, is 'learnt" even a correct way to stay "learned?" I thought they overruled this years ago saying it was indeed "learned?" :| I think both are acceptable. I know I was brought up with 'learnt' and saying or reading 'learned' just feels wrong to me. I have to stop myself from correcting it actually.

Seriously, if it's not on the shelves or there's nowhere for it to go on the shelves, we probably don't have any and I'm not going to dig through all those boxes to find your kind some candy or whatever. My job is not to find what the customer is looking for, it's merely to run the register and stock shelves. There's god knows how many managers running around the store who are more than willing to help and yet everyone stops to ask me (or whoever is stocking with me).
