Smoking

Imo people can smoke if they want. As long as they're not blowing the smoke in my face I could care less. And I like the smell of the smoke so it doesn't bug me.

Yeah it's weird isn't it? People make a big fuss about the smell of smoke but then everyone loves the smell of a bonfire. It must be what's burning.

Would you like to smell a pile of burning hair? Or plastic? Or plastic hair?

I do not love thee, Dr. Fell,

But this I know, and know full well,

I do not love thee, Dr. Fell.

I have just as much training (if not more) in [wagon]-kickery than a Marine, so I'm really not going to tremble in the presence of a soldier. I guess he could shoot me, but yea...Still, brick to the face.

Oo tough guy on the internet...that's new -.-

I seriously doubt (unless you're a martial arts master....) that you (Tigra) could kick the [cabbage] out of a Marine....they're some of the toughest people in the world.

I've got a (tobacco) pipe that I've smoked twice. I quite like the taste and the smell, but other than that it does nothing for me. I could quit any time I wants, I tells you.

I don't mind the smell of cigarette smoke when it's in the air; only when it settles into things. I live in Scotland at the moment and to be quite honest, some pubs and clubs smell a whole lot worse when you take away the smoke because it was covering up all the bad smells that were there in the first place. That's not to say that I think the smoking ban is a bad thing, or that any more but a small minority of places will smell worse afterwards.

If nothing else I think smoking cigarettes is a waste of money unless the smoker really really enjoys every smoke. Most people I've talked to say they don't, and that they smoke mainly out of habit. I can't say I've ever met someone addicted to weed, though I know plenty of people who have smoked it (irregularly).

Drugs are bad, mmmkay. Only do them if it significantly raises your cool factor (say, all the way from "whack" to "phat"). Even then, think if there could be harmful effects before you do anything. Completely off topic, but I lived with a bunch of people who would come home in the early hours "pilled off their faces" as it were, and that's just not a good thing to do at all.

Who was being a tough guy? Did I threaten anyone? He essentially threatened me, telling me I should be afraid of someone. I simply explained why I am not.

Wow, good thing I am a martial artist, then, hmm? Marines learn basic hand-to-hand combat...I feel safe to say that I am far beyond that, and seeing that there aren't a ton of marines who are physically stronger and larger than I am, I felt safe to say that I could take a Marine. I'm fully aware that they're "zomg tough", but there is your everyday average citizen who is also. ;) While I'm sure there are some Marines who have been training for years, I've been training for over a decade, so again, all I said was that I'm not afraid of some Marine smoking a cigarette. That's another thing...If push comes to shove...Why not just outrun him! He smokes, afterall. He can't catch anything.

And my original quote, about hitting someone in the face with a brick...Obviously it was a joke. Way to take it seriously though, smart guys!

Smoking, in my humble opinion, is morally wrong, but should never be illegal. If someone wants to smoke, let them. If they want to get lung cancer and mess up their brain I'm not stopping them. I only think that the only restrictions on smoking is not smoking near other people. I know people who damaged their lungs by second-hand smoke. I once ate at a resturant, and I couldn't eat because of the smoke that seeped to my area from the smoking area. Why would they want to smoke and eat at the same time anyways?

Be ugly all you want, but if I see it, I'm using your eye sockets as an ash tray.

Well, it's not like being ugly is lethal.

Though in your case... :-k .

Sorry, it was open :-w .

Is this where I am supposed to say nice one? Because I will if it'll make you feel better.

Animosity :-s .

My post actually started out as a serious rebuttal, because looks don't kill people, smoke does; your point doesn't make any sense.

The minor joke was just to lighten things up and keep a flame war out of this. After all, Tigra was joking, so it's not like these responses should be all that serious.

I suppose there isn't really any way I expected you to respond. My response was more like a post stating "okay, it was a joke, let's just let it die", if you get what I'm saying.

Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.

I really hate it when people say this. You know smokers don't spend every day thinking "God I wish I would just get lung cancer already." Chances are they started when they were younger because it was "cool" or they started because they wre curious or knew it relieved stress. And any way they started got them hooked. Their intentions were never to die a horrible death. And you can't say everyone who smokes is going to get lunger cancer. My grandparents smoked since they were either late teens or early 20's and their lungs are fine. And (thankfully) they stopped smoking ~5 months ago and haven't started again since.

Yeah I agree with that,

Thats why most restaurants have a separate bar people can smoke in or the ban it completely

I pretty much have the same attitude about those people. To say they're smoking because they want lung cancer is ridiculous. I like cheeseburgers, but that doesn't mean I want to clog my arteries. I like to be out in the sun, but that doesn't mean i want skin cancer. And I like sweets, but that doesn't mean I want rotten teeth.

I don't care if people smoke. The only time i don't like it is if they live at home with a child who they smoke around. Otherwise it's fine, the majority of deaths by passive smoking are through consenting adults living with smokers, they have the choice. People who walk down the street and see a smoker and think "I have a right not breathe in smoke", don't have a right not too, and they may aswell just say "I have a right not to breathe in car fumes" or something else as ridiculous.

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

How can you seriously say you're going to hit someone in the face with a brick for doing something as trivial as smoking around you?
