These days forum thread titles are editted loads to brag of views and replies

 

 

 

People insist on wandering around bragging about beating a new quest while others do it.

 

 

 

People come up to you and ask your stat lvls until they find one better than yours and brag.

 

 

 

What is the big deal with all this stuff?

 

 

 

Its not like your amazing because of any of it.

 

 

 

So what do you lots think about people bragging about anything and everything rs related these days?

people like the feeling of accomplishment, no matter how insignificant that feeling may be, and it's human nature to brag :

Thats what runescape is, a competition for bragging rights. Although many will deny it, and im expecting cliche responses, many players play to advance, and feel a sense of accomplishment. Players want this accomplishment to be seen and heard outside themselves, so they gain an even bigger sense of accomplishment. That's the essence of runescape, and the reason its such a fantastically designed game.

I have a thread with over 5k views and yet I choose not to brag about it. I noticed the very same thing yesterday that you've just mentioned. I see one thread in particular that is updated very regularly just to show how many views it has. I mean.. why mention it in the title when you can just look to the right and see how many views it has gotten. I will make an exception for the one that has 100k views.. that's an accomplishment there in itself.

Some bragging I find alright if done with good taste.

 

 

 

Such as say 100k+ views on a topic

 

Getting a d chain drop

 

Getting a 99

 

Getting 200m xp in a skill

 

 

 

But ones like first post, I beat the new easy quest you didn't, Ha I'm 1 theif lvl better than you or omg 500+ thread views, are jsut pointless

Anyways, I hate it when people look at your stats just to brag, ask your lvl just to brag etc, I hate it... The people that put the amount of views in the name of the topic, I don't hate. I do find it kind of sad, but if they feel they've accomplished something, good for them, let them be happy about it. As long as they don't go posting on other topics that they are better because of the amount of views I don't mind.

Yup, I also believe this is one of, if not the biggest reason people play this game. But that doesn't mean it's normal to brag about everything, I don't. O:)

 

I mean, it's true that the sense of accomplishment is nice, but I don't brag about my lvls or completed quests. Most of my real-life friends that played have quit, so I have no reason to brag to them. I don't really socialize with people at training spots, so there isn't even a lot of opportunity for me to brag. If some random person were to comment nicely about a lvl I have, I would feel proud, but I don't start boasting about my lvls to people.

Thats what achievement capes are for

When FMing I ask people their level. Not to brag once I get the answer, but to ask if they plan on getting 99, in which case I encourage them to keep going.
