June 12, 200719 yr i hope it's something good. at least they've started to expand on the hunter skill so that it won't be completely worthless. hunter is not worthless  hunter, as i see it, is becoming another skill to support range. all combat has oone, melee is smithing, mage is runecrafting, and now range is hunter and fletching. as for archaeology as a new skill, it's not going to happen. how would you lvl up? is where you dig on the new archaeology island? what would be the point of lvling up? what would the skill give you? there are too many holes in this idea. i don't think jagex can come up with a new skill, and since runescape has always been different than other games, i doubt they'll put in necromancy/summoning, even if they weren't worthless. they might make it a new spell book, with it a new quest, but i doubt it. there would be no way to lvl it up by itself. one thing jagex should do is incorperate agility into combat. if you have high agility, you can go to an interface that shows you a list of difficult tricks you can do in combat that take up running energy. tricks such as jumping up, attacking in mid air, and landing on their other side, confusing them or stunning them for a moment. narturally a trick like that would take high agility but some can be lower. this could only be used by melee though, and possibly range. agility has needed an update for so long and i think this is a great idea.
June 12, 200719 yr summoning(necromancy is just summoning of the dead) could have fighting monsters, banking by summoning, even pressing switches with small creatures. lvling could be done like melee, damage=xp I can easily see summoning becoming a skill. The tower of life was made to test if the servers could handle summoning even. IT IS COMING. Sir, the Panzerschreck squad is blocking the road!
June 12, 200719 yr Engineering would be really cool : At lvl 99 u can make a tank  That would own in wildy \ I Am Awesome.

June 12, 200719 yr Summoning has been suggested for years now. But could it really work? With some reason, everyone knows that you will never ever be able to summon something as powerful as a steel dragon. So, what is more likely? But that is not my greatest concern by far. The thing that troubles me the most is the AI of the monsters. I can't name any game that has dumber monsters than runescape. All monsters follow a certain algorithm to move from place a to b. It's behavior is very predictable, as a matter of fact, the AOW has an excellent article about it. I just can't image getting afraid of any summoned monster, since you can block it so easily. SO, i really like the idea of summoning, but is the runescape engine complex enough to make it work in a proper way?

I favor summoning alot too, but I think that JaGeX might have to put alot of work into altering the combat system before they could implement it into the game. And even before that, I think it would take a possible landslide poll to persuade them to add it. But atm, I think it's still too early to release a new skill. Like many people have said before, I think they need to add some new features to some skills that people may find boring. One example is firemaking... I want fireworks!!! :XD: But if there absolutely needs to be a skill, I'd say FREE ARMOR TRIMMING FTW!!! :ohnoes: ^ Refresh for a new signature ^
June 13, 200719 yr Author ~Everyone seems to be for Summoning, but against Archealogy...~ ~In a 2000-character message on the RSOF, you really can't talk about a new Skill in depth. I think the idea is very good, and the Leveling process even better. They need more Skills in which you can only get 30k experience a day. Otherwise, in three weeks, a hundred people will have straight 99's. Then we'll need *another* new Skill, to keep them entertained.~ ~I also think they should seperate Alchemy from Magic. Make Magic solely training Spells and Teleports, while Alchemy will give the same end result now, but your experience will go towards the "Alchemy Skill."~
June 13, 200719 yr Lots of people saying sommining. or summit like that cant spell it lol :P Visit My Blog!

Oh yeah. ok dude how long have you been helping your mother knit? #-o Thank you, I multitask on RuneScape -- In the game, I'm fishing. In reality? Totally knitting. On a more serious note, out of all the things mentioned, I think Engineering would be the coolest. I'm not saying we should have full-fledged hand grenades, but something like a chinchompa (But less, uh, living and more tinker-style) would be pretty cool.

Played since February 200113th to 30 huntingfiremaking cape achieved 6th August 2008_-_-_-_Quest cape achieved 19th August 2009
June 13, 200719 yr I think expanding current skills would be a better but who knows. +1 I think adding even more skills will just be stupid. New players will be overwhelmed by the amount of skills, im sure they are already! P2P offers more and better ways of making money than f2p. That's one of the cons you just have to play with if you don't feel like having 1 bigmac meal less per month.

I like that agility idea. Mages could have some too, perhaps casting a spell then doing a short teleportationto put some distance between the mage and his target. (I know people complain about farcasting, but the idea that you could freeze an opponent and then attack from a distance is the entire idea behind the combat triangle.) And there could be evasive moves that all classes could use. I was thinking hunter could be a combat addition. Set traps and magic explosives to hurt your enemies, for example. There could also traps set up in specific areas, like a stalagtite that you can shoot and have collapse on monsters in caves. as for archaeology as a new skill, it's not going to happen. how would you lvl up? By digging up artifacts. The lowest levels would just be using a spade to dig around and find coins and arrowheads and tidbits like that. Then you work your way up to using delicate equipment to dig up much rarer stuff. is where you dig on the new archaeology island? They would probably have to more locations. I can't see an entire skill only useful in the desert and one island. They would really need new huge digsites, but maybe just let you dig around historical places throught RS to find little trinkets. what would be the point of lvling up? what would the skill give you? Higher levels could dig up powerful weapons, possibly new 3rd age armors (the ones we have now should stay treasure trail only). You could also dig up dinosaur bones. They could possibly be used in construction to give your house a Dorgesh-Kaan look. Perhaps you could dig up ancient jewelry with their own special abilities. there are too many holes in this idea I'm not necessarily saying I support archeology as a skill, I was just pointing out that the holes could be filled. All ideas have to start out with a few holes. I can see it as a possible. And I would like to see more skills that are just for fun instead of being another combat support skill. Look, if your mom still drops you off at school, you ain't gangsta, pull up your damn pants!3 down, 7 to go
June 13, 200719 yr Another largely useless, gimmicky one. Metal fans, check out my band!Still the King....
June 13, 200719 yr flax picking goed to farming attack speed goes to agility hitpoints speed will decrease prayer speed will increase more trees in specific forests firemaking goes with woodcutting archeologist goes with crafting so i think there will not be a new skill

June 14, 200719 yr forgot to quote, but its the first post on this page, Pet care could easily be a skill, it would be similar to farming, how you raise your pets (like plants in farming) feed it, take care of it (vet maybe?) and when its grown all the way you get xp. You could aslo compet in pvp where its your pets in minigames. There could be tons of different animals My idea: I had this for a while, a job skill where you work for compineies and do senerios like working for a resturanty making and delverying food (ie gnome delivery minigame) and you would get xp based on how well you do. Then at certin levels, you can start your own business where npcs come, and also a shop for other players to buy and sell things. Rofl. My chair has a fridge, a cooler, a toilet, a shower, and a barbecue bulit in.Hey, I may have quite Runescape, but I just bought an XBOX 360 and play way to much COD4 with the Gamertag Lava Mage
June 14, 200719 yr As far as summoning and necromancy go (at least in my own opinion) I doubt that it will happen. Jagex has built runescape in a way different from most other RPGs. They try (in my opinion) not to do things that other RPGs do, and make runescape original. Also, as far as summoning goes I doubt Jagex would implement it so that things could be summoned against other players. Imagine this, a high level player goes and summons a steel dragon in fally world 2. It would be chaos, few people would have anti-dragon-fire shields, and a bunch of people would loose valuable things. Think how that would look on Jagex's record. (not to mention membership money) Also that would go against what they said when they said you will not randomly die. What has become of the runescape community???? :wall:There is a community?
June 15, 200719 yr a skill called speed.. the higher your level.. there faster your attack how long i've waited for that but 2 problems with it. 1. how do u train it. 2. it's already determined by the wep u use lets just like def or att or str... but u can take a great axe and the speed of a d scimi
June 15, 200719 yr SWIMMING OR ANOTHER TYPE OF ATTACK LIKE HYPNOTIZING THE ENEMY "The death of one man is a tragedy. The death of millions is a statistic." -Joseph Stalin <(--=\\ CHAMILITARY MAYNE //=--)>
June 15, 200719 yr they could lift level caps and add new things to our current skills? I agree with this. P2P offers more and better ways of making money than f2p. That's one of the cons you just have to play with if you don't feel like having 1 bigmac meal less per month.
