Firemaking improvement?

Recommended Posts

Burning logs is all well and good, but wouldn't the skill be a little more realistic if you could burn other items as well?

Example?

What better way to express your annoyance with yet another unwanted "Security Handbook" by using your tinderbox on it?

Just a thought. :)

"Boy, sure would be nice to have some grenades, don't you think you think?"

BURN THOSE FREAKIN ENTS TO THE GROUND!!!!!!! O:)

yeah you'd need some type of protection, and make it so you can only burn things that you can burn in real life. You really cant burn a gold ring now can you?

Or, what could happen is that you have the option to "Use [object] -> Fire", at which your character tosses the item onto the fire. However, if you choose that option, it will say "Are you sure you wish to burn your [object]? There is no way of getting it back!" This means that it will be more realistic, as in real life you can throw anything you want onto a fire, but can't really get some items to catch light by themself.

A good idea.

maybe it could be used for attack certain monsters could be introduced that need firemaking levels to kill, you finish them with a tinderbox and they burn to ash

"hmm, i wonder if i burnt his bank note for 100k maples to get 99 firemaking"

Use Tinderbox --> Maple log

"Zomg, 1 xp? i thought i was burning 100k maples, not 1 bank note!"

heh, some rules would have to be established before it was implimented, but it sounds like a good idea. I have always wanted to burn thigns like capes, mage hats, etc. it would be fun.

Maybe you should get firemaking xp based on the rarity of the item that you burn?

I also tought about this, good idea but you do need some sort of protection so you don't burn valuables.

Now why do you need this?

You could do the same thing with alching, and there's no protection there...and why is your blue phat in inventory while you're burning logs? That's just plain stupid.

thats not a bad idea!!!!!! especially for slayer monsters!!!!!

You could kill a monster..then to get the Exp..u need to burn its remains...or this could go the same with Prayer...since cremation is a way of "burying your bones"

they should make some fires not crossable, like 91 Fm you can make an uncrossable fire until burns out OR if you cross it it hits you 5 or something. it would be useful when Pking you know...

that also is a good idea!...atk a monster...then move back light a fire and move back again..and as the monster walks over the fire he could have damage dealt to him every so often.

some sort of flamthrower would be cool

lol idont think they had flamethrowers back in medieval times...

I support everything i just said..........

I'm just going to say no because believe it or not 99 fm takes alot of effort and any way that makes it simpler at all *stand in bank and just use tinderbox -> item* demeens what I had to do. And makes it more brain numbing than fletching.

and if u are in wildernis you can throw extra logs on the fire so they cant pass it and if u shoot arrows throug it they willl lit on fire and you will hit like 2/3 fire damage extra for the fire and the body he/she wears and legs and other armour pieces willbecome damaged and they cant pass the high fire but you need to throw extra logs on a normal fire made often.

How does 20 minutes turn into 2.5 hours? Was your math perhaps magical math?

I'd like to see burning arrows. We already got lit arrows in underground pass quest but now we could get some real use for them. Just make them untradeable when lit, easy enough to lit, high fm level needed and powerful enough to be worth the fm levels.
